Hosea 9

1 Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.	1 Ne te réjouis pas Israël, ne laisse pas éclater ta joie comme les païens, car tu t’es prostitué loin de ton Dieu sur toutes les aires à battre le blé; tu as aimé le salaire de ta prostitution.
2 The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.	2 Ni l’aire, ni la cuve ne les nourriront, et le vin nouveau leur manquera.
3 They shall not dwell in the LORD's land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria.	3 Ils n’habiteront pas dans la terre de Yahvé; Éphraïm retournera en Égypte; en Assyrie ils mangeront des aliments impurs.
4 They shall not offer wine offerings to the LORD, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the LORD.	4 Là-bas ils ne pourront plus présenter à Yahvé des libations de vin, ni chercher à lui plaire par des sacrifices. Ils n’auront que du pain de deuil qui rend impurs ceux qui en mangent. Leur pain restera chez eux, il n’entrera pas dans la maison de Yahvé.
5 What will ye do in the solemn day, and in the day of the feast of the LORD?	5 Que ferez-vous au jour de la solennité?
6 For, lo, they are gone because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them: the pleasant places for their silver, nettles shall possess them: thorns shall be in their tabernacles.	6 Pour la fête de Yahvé, ils partiront pour l’exil; l’Égypte les rassemblera et Memphis sera leur tombeau; l’ortie héritera de leurs objets précieux et les ronces envahiront leurs tentes.
7 The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.	7 Le jour est arrivé où il faut rendre des comptes, les jours du châtiment sont là; Israël va l’apprendre. Les prophètes seront comme fous et l’homme inspiré perdra la tête, car ta défaite sera à la mesure de ton péché.
8 The watchman of Ephraim was with my God: but the prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.	8 Le prophète est une sentinelle pour Éphraïm; il est avec Dieu, mais on lui tend des pièges sur tous ses chemins, et dans la Maison de son Dieu il rencontre des adversaires.
9 They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: therefore he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.	9 Ils sont complètement corrompus comme aux jours lointains de Guibéa. Dieu se souviendra de leur faute; il punira leurs péchés.
10 I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baal-peor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.	10 J’ai trouvé Israël comme des raisins dans le désert, j’ai vu vos pères comme un fruit précoce sur un figuier; mais sitôt arrivés à Baal-Péor ils se sont vendus à Baal, ils sont devenus aussi méprisables que l’idole qu’ils aimaient.
11 As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception.	11 La gloire d’Éphraïm s’envolera comme l’oiseau; il n’y aura plus d’enfantement, même plus de grossesse, même plus de conception.
12 Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, that there shall not be a man left: yea, woe also to them when I depart from them!	12 Seront-ils capables d’élever des fils? Je les en priverai avant qu’ils ne soient devenus des hommes. Je les punirai et les abandonnerai.
13 Ephraim, as I saw Tyrus, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer.	13 J’ai déjà vu qu’Éphraïm allait faire de ses fils un gibier; Éphraïm mènera ses fils à l’égorgeur.
14 Give them, O LORD: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.	14 Donne-leur, Yahvé… Que leur donneras-tu? Un sein stérile et des mamelles sans lait!
15 All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.	15 Ils ont montré toute leur méchanceté à Guilgal; c’est là que je les ai pris en dégoût. Je les chasserai de ma maison pour tous leurs crimes. Je ne les aimerai plus car tous leurs chefs sont des rebelles.
16 Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb.	16 Éphraïm est atteint, sa racine se dessèche; il ne donnera plus de fruits. Même s’il leur naît des enfants, je ferai mourir ce fruit précieux de leur sein;
17 My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.	17 mon Dieu les repoussera parce qu’ils ne l’ont pas écouté, il les dispersera parmi les nations.
