1 Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.	1 Au maître de chant. Sur la guittienne. D’Asaf.
2 Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.	2 Criez de joie pour Dieu, notre force, acclamez le Dieu de Jacob!
3 Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.	3 Allez-y pour le chant, faites donner les tambours, la harpe mélodieuse et la lyre!
4 For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.	4 Sonnez du cor pour le premier du mois, puis à la pleine lune, au jour de notre fête!
5 This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.	5 C’est une règle en Israël par décision du Dieu de Jacob,
6 I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.	6 un décret qu’il imposa aux enfants de Joseph quand ils quittaient le pays d’Égypte. Alors ils entendirent une voix inconnue:
7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.	7 “J’ai enlevé le fardeau de ton épaule, tu n’auras plus les mains rivées aux corbeilles.
8 Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;	8 Tu criais dans la détresse, je t’ai délivré, je t’ai répondu dans le secret de la nuée, je t’ai mis à l’épreuve aux eaux de Mériba.
9 There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.	9 Écoute, mon peuple, car je veux t’avertir, Israël, écoute-moi:
10 I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.	10 On ne verra pas chez toi un dieu étranger; tu ne serviras pas un dieu venu d’ailleurs:
11 But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.	11 je suis Yahvé, ton Dieu, qui t’ai fait remonter d’Égypte. Ouvre ta bouche toute grande, que je la remplisse.”
12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.	12 Mon peuple, pourtant, n’a pas voulu m’entendre, Israël ne m’a pas obéi.
13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!	13 Je les ai donc laissés: “N’en faites qu’à votre tête, allez par où bon vous semble!”
14 I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.	14 Ah! si mon peuple m’écoutait, si Israël prenait mes chemins,
15 The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.	15 en peu de temps je soumettrais ses ennemis, d’un revers de main je frapperais l’adversaire.
16 He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.	16 Les ennemis du Seigneur lui feraient des sourires, ils seraient effrayés pour de bon.
	17 Mais lui, je le nourrirais des blés les meilleurs, avec le miel du rocher, plus qu’il n’en peut prendre.
