1 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Va trouver Pharaon et dis-lui: Ainsi parle Yahvé, le Dieu des Hébreux: Laissepartir mon peuple, qu'il me serve.	1 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and tell him: Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews: Let my people go to worship me.
2 Si tu refuses de le laisser partir et le retiens plus longtemps,	2 If you refuse to let them go and persist in holding them,
3 voici que la main de Yahvé frappera tes troupeaux qui sont dans les champs, les chevaux, les ânes,les chameaux, les boeufs et le petit bétail, d'une peste très grave.	3 I warn you, the LORD will afflict all your livestock in the field--your horses, asses, camels, herds and flocks--with a very severe pestilence.
4 Yahvé discernera les troupeaux d'Israël des troupeaux des Egyptiens, et rien ne mourra de ce quiappartient aux Israélites.	4 But the LORD will distinguish between the livestock of Israel and that of Egypt, so that none belonging to the Israelites will die."
5 Yahvé a fixé le temps en disant: Demain Yahvé fera cela dans le pays."	5 And setting a definite time, the LORD added, "Tomorrow the LORD shall do this in the land."
6 Le lendemain, Yahvé fit cela, et tous les troupeaux des Egyptiens moururent, mais des troupeaux desIsraélites, pas une bête ne mourut.	6 And on the next day the LORD did so. All the livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one beast belonging to the Israelites.
7 Pharaon fit une enquête, et voici que des troupeaux d'Israël pas une seule bête n'était morte. Mais lecoeur de Pharaon s'appesantit et il ne laissa pas partir le peuple.	7 But though Pharaoh's messengers informed him that not even one beast belonging to the Israelites had died, he still remained obdurate and would not let the people go.
8 Yahvé dit à Moïse et à Aaron: "Prenez plein vos mains de suie de fourneau et que Moïse la lance enl'air, sous les yeux de Pharaon.	8 Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Take a double handful of soot from a furnace, and in the presence of Pharaoh let Moses scatter it toward the sky.
9 Elle se changera en fine poussière sur tout le pays d'Egypte et provoquera, sur les gens et sur lesbêtes, des ulcères bourgeonnant en pustules, dans toute l'Egypte."	9 It will then turn into fine dust over the whole land of Egypt and cause festering boils on man and beast throughout the land."
10 Ils prirent de la suie de fourneau et se tinrent devant Pharaon; Moïse la lança en l'air et gens et bêtesfurent couverts d'ulcères bourgeonnant en pustules.	10 So they took soot from a furnace and stood in the presence of Pharaoh. Moses scattered it toward the sky, and it caused festering boils on man and beast.
11 Les magiciens ne purent se tenir devant Moïse à cause des ulcères, car les magiciens étaientcouverts d'ulcères comme tous les Egyptiens.	11 The magicians could not stand in Moses' presence, for there were boils on the magicians no less than on the rest of the Egyptians.
12 Yahvé endurcit le coeur de Pharaon et il ne les écouta pas, comme l'avait prédit Yahvé.	12 But the LORD made Pharaoh obstinate, and he would not listen to them, just as the LORD had foretold to Moses.
13 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Lève-toi de bon matin et tiens-toi devant Pharaon. Tu lui diras: Ainsi parleYahvé, le Dieu des Hébreux: Laisse partir mon peuple, qu'il me serve.	13 Then the LORD told Moses, "Early tomorrow morning present yourself to Pharaoh and say to him: Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews: Let my people go to worship me,
14 Car cette fois-ci, je vais envoyer tous mes fléaux contre toi-même, contre tes serviteurs et contre tonpeuple, afin que tu apprennes qu'il n'y en a pas comme moi sur toute la terre.	14 or this time I will hurl all my blows upon you and your servants and your subjects, that you may know that there is none like me anywhere on earth.
15 Si j'avais étendu la main et vous avais frappés de la peste, toi et ton peuple, tu aurais été effacé de laterre.	15 For by now I would have stretched out my hand and struck you and your subjects with such pestilence as would wipe you from the earth.
16 Mais je t'ai laissé subsister afin que tu voies ma force et qu'on publie mon nom par toute la terre.	16 But this is why I have spared you: to show you my power and to make my name resound throughout the earth!
17 Tu le prends de haut avec mon peuple en ne le laissant pas partir.	17 Will you still block the way for my people by refusing to let them go?
18 Eh bien demain, à pareille heure, je ferai tomber une grêle très forte, comme il n'y en a jamais eu enEgypte depuis le jour de sa fondation jusqu'à maintenant.	18 I warn you, then, tomorrow at this hour I will rain down such fierce hail as there has never been in Egypt from the day the nation was founded up to the present.
19 Et maintenant, envoie mettre tes troupeaux à l'abri, et tout ce qui, dans les champs, t'appartient. Toutce qui, homme ou bête, se trouvera dans les champs et n'aura pas été ramené à la maison, la grêle tombera sur luiet il mourra."	19 Therefore, order all your livestock and whatever else you have in the open fields to be brought to a place of safety. Whatever man or beast remains in the fields and is not brought to shelter shall die when the hail comes upon them."
20 Celui des serviteurs de Pharaon qui craignit la parole de Yahvé fit rentrer en hâte ses esclaves et sestroupeaux dans les maisons.	20 Some of Pharaoh's servants feared the warning of the LORD and hurried their servants and livestock off to shelter.
21 Mais celui qui ne prit pas à coeur la parole de Yahvé laissa aux champs ses esclaves et sestroupeaux.	21 Others, however, did not take the warning of the LORD to heart and left their servants and livestock in the fields.
22 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Etends ta main vers le ciel et qu'il grêle dans tout le pays d'Egypte, sur leshommes et sur les bêtes, sur toute l'herbe des champs au pays d'Egypte."	22 The LORD then said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that hail may fall upon the entire land of Egypt, on man and beast and every growing thing in the land of Egypt."
23 Moïse étendit son bâton vers le ciel, et Yahvé tonna et fit tomber la grêle. La foudre frappa le sol, etYahvé fit tomber la grêle sur le pays d'Egypte.	23 But Pharaoh, seeing that the rain and hail and thunder had ceased, sinned again: he with his servants became obdurate,
24 Il y eut de la grêle et le feu jaillissait au milieu de la grêle, une grêle très forte, comme il n'y en avaitjamais eu au pays des Egyptiens depuis qu'ils formaient une nation.	24 and lightning constantly flashed through the hail, such fierce hail as had never been seen in the land since Egypt became a nation.
25 La grêle frappa, dans tout le pays d'Egypte, tout ce qui était dans les champs, hommes et bêtes. Lagrêle frappa toutes les herbes des champs et brisa tous les arbres des champs.	25 It struck down every man and beast that was in the open throughout the land of Egypt; it beat down every growing thing and splintered every tree in the fields.
26 Ce n'est qu'au pays de Goshèn, où se trouvaient les Israélites, qu'il n'y eut pas de grêle.	26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the Israelites dwelt, was there no hail.
27 Pharaon fit appeler Moïse et Aaron et leur dit: "Cette fois, j'ai péché; c'est Yahvé qui est juste, moiet mon peuple, nous sommes coupables.	27 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said to them, "I have sinned again! The LORD is just; it is I and my subjects who are at fault.
28 Priez Yahvé. Il y a eu assez de tonnerre et de grêle. Je m'engage à vous laisser partir et vous neresterez pas plus longtemps."	28 Pray to the LORD, for we have had enough of God's thunder and hail. Then I will let you go; you need stay no longer."
29 Moïse lui dit: "Quand je sortirai de la ville, j'étendrai les mains vers Yahvé, le tonnerre cessera et iln'y aura plus de grêle, afin que tu saches que la terre est à Yahvé.	29 Moses replied, "As soon as I leave the city I will extend my hands to the LORD; the thunder will cease, and there will be no more hail. Thus you shall learn that the earth is the LORD'S.
30 Mais ni toi ni tes serviteurs, je le sais bien, vous ne craindrez encore Yahvé Dieu."	30 But you and your servants, I know, do not yet fear the LORD God."
31 Le lin et l'orge furent abattus, car l'orge était en épis et le lin en fleurs.	31 Now the flax and the barley were ruined, because the barley was in ear and the flax in bud.
32 Le froment et l'épeautre ne furent pas abattus car ils sont tardifs.	32 But the wheat and the spelt were not ruined, for they grow later.
33 Moïse sortit de chez Pharaon et de la ville; il étendit les mains vers Yahvé; le tonnerre et la grêlecessèrent, et la pluie ne se déversa plus sur la terre.	33 When Moses had left Pharaoh's presence and had gone out of the city, he extended his hands to the LORD. Then the thunder and the hail ceased, and the rain no longer poured down upon the earth.
34 Quand Pharaon vit que la pluie, la grêle et le tonnerre avaient cessé, il recommença à pécher, et luiet ses serviteurs appesantirent leur coeur.
35 Le coeur de Pharaon s'endurcit et il ne laissa pas partir les Israélites, comme Yahvé l'avait prédit parMoïse.	35 and in his obstinacy he would not let the Israelites go, as the LORD had foretold through Moses.
