1 But I determined this with myself, not to come to you again in sorrow.	1 Sam to sobie postanowiłem, by nie przychodzić do was ponownie w smutku.
2 For if I make you sorrowful, who is he then that can make me glad, but the same who is made sorrowful by me?	2 Jeżeli ja was zasmucam, któż mi radość sprawi, jeśli nie ten, którego ja zasmucam?
3 And I wrote this same to you; that I may not, when I come, have sorrow upon sorrow, from them of whom I ought to rejoice: having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.	3 A napisałem to, aby nie doznać podwójnego smutku, gdy przybędę do tych, od których winienem doznawać radości; zresztą jestem przeświadczony co do was wszystkich, że moja radość jest także waszą radością.
4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart, I wrote to you with many tears: not that you should be made sorrowful: but that you might know the charity I have more abundantly towards you.	4 Pisałem bowiem do was będąc w wielkiej rozterce i ucisku serca, wśród wielu łez, nie po to, aby was zasmucić, lecz żebyście wiedzieli, jak tym bardziej was miłuję.
5 And if any one have caused grief, he hath not grieved me; but in part, that I may not burden you all.	5 Jeżeli zaś ktoś smutek sprawił, to nie mnie, lecz po części - by nie przesadzać - wam wszystkim.
6 To him who is such a one, this rebuke is sufficient, which is given by many:	6 Niech już takiemu wystarczy kara, wymierzona przez większość spośród was.
7 So that on the contrary, you should rather forgive him and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.	7 Raczej wypada teraz wybaczyć mu i podtrzymać go na duchu, aby nie popadł ów człowiek w rozpaczliwy smutek.
8 Wherefore, I beseech you, that you would confirm your charity towards him.	8 Dlatego napominam was, abyście jego sprawę rozstrzygnęli z miłością.
9 For to this end also did I write, that I may know the experiment of you, whether you be obedient in all things.	9 W tym też celu napisałem, aby was wypróbować i aby się przekonać, czy we wszystkim jesteście posłuszni.
10 And to whom you have pardoned any thing, I also. For, what I have pardoned, if I have pardoned any thing, for your sakes have I done it in the person of Christ.	10 Komu zaś cokolwiek wybaczyliście, ja też /mu wybaczam/. 11 That we be not overreached by Satan. For we are not ignorant of his devices.	11 ażeby nie uwiódł nas szatan, którego knowania dobrze są nam znane.
12 And when I was come to Troas for the gospel of Christ, and a door was opened unto me in the Lord,	12 Kiedy przybyłem do Troady, by głosić Ewangelię Chrystusa, a bramy były mi otwarte w Panu,
13 I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother; but bidding them farewell, I went into Macedonia.	13 duch mój nie zaznał spokoju, bo nie spotkałem Tytusa, brata mojego. Pożegnałem się przeto i wyruszyłem do Macedonii.
14 Now thanks be to God, who always maketh us to triumph in Christ Jesus, and manifesteth the odour of his knowledge by us in every place.	14 Lecz Bogu niech będą dzięki za to, że pozwala nam zawsze zwyciężać w Chrystusie i roznosić po wszystkich miejscach woń Jego poznania.
15 For we are the good odour of Christ unto God, in them that are saved, and in them that perish.	15 Jesteśmy bowiem miłą Bogu wonnością Chrystusa zarówno dla tych, którzy dostępują zbawienia, jak i dla tych, którzy idą na zatracenie;
16 To the one indeed the odour of death unto death: but to the others the odour of life unto life. And for these things who is so sufficient?	16 dla jednych jest to zapach śmiercionośny - na śmierć, dla drugich zapach ożywiający - na życie. A któż temu sprosta?
17 For we are not as many, adulterating the word of God; but with sincerity, but as from God, before God, in Christ we speak.	17 Nie jesteśmy bowiem jak wielu, którzy kupczą słowem Bożym, lecz ze szczerości, jak od Boga mówimy w Chrystusie przed Bogiem.
