DOUAI-RHEIMS	BIBLIA
1 I will stand upon my watch, and fix my foot upon the tower: and I will watch, to see what will be said to me, and what I may answer to him that reproveth me.	1 En mi puesto de guardia me pondré, me plantaré en mi muro, y otearé para ver lo que él me dice, lo que responde a mi querella.
2 And the Lord answered me, and said: Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables: that he that readeth it may run over it.	2 Y me respondió Yahveh y dijo: «Escribe la visión, ponla clara en tablillas para que se pueda leer de corrido.
3 For as yet the vision is far off, and it shall appear at the end, and shall not lie: if it make any delay, wait for it: for it shall surely come, and it shall not be slack.	3 Porque es aún visión para su fecha, aspira ella al fin y no defrauda; si se tarda, espérala, pues vendrá ciertamente, sin retraso.
4 Behold, he that is unbelieving, his soul shall not be right in himself: but the just shall live in his faith.	4 «He aquí que sucumbe quien no tiene el alma recta, más el justo por su fidelidad vivirá».
5 And as wine deceiveth him that drinketh it: so shall the proud man be, and he shall not be honoured: who hath enlarged his desire like hell: and is himself like death, and he is never satisfied: but will gather together unto him all nations, and heap together unto him all people.	5 ¡Oh, ciertamente es traidora la riqueza! ¡Es hombre fatuo y no tendrá éxito el que ensancha como el seol sus fauces; como la muerte, él nunca se sacia, reúne para sí todas las naciones, acapara para sí los pueblos todos!
6 Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a dark speech concerning him: and it shall be said: Woe to him that heapeth together that which is not his own? how long also doth he load himself with thick clay?	6 ¿No profetizarán todos éstos sobre él una sátira, adivinanzas y enigmas sobre él? Dirán: ¡Ay de quien amontona lo que no es suyo (¿hasta cuándo?) y se carga de prendas empeñadas!
7 Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee: and they be stirred up that shall tear thee, and thou shalt be a spoil to them?	7 ¿No se alzarán de repente tus acreedores, no se despertarán tus vejadores, y serás presa de ellos?
8 Because thou hast spoiled many nations, all that shall be left of the people shall spoil thee: because of men's blood, and for the iniquity of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.	8 Por haber saqueado a naciones numerosas, te saqueará a ti todo el resto de los pueblos, por la sangre del hombre y la violencia a la tierra, a la ciudad y a todos los que la habitan.
9 Woe to him that gathereth together an evil covetousness to his house, that his nest may be on high, and thinketh he may be delivered out of the hand of evil.	9 ¡Ay de quien gana ganancia inmoral para su casa, para poner su nido en alto y escapar a la garra del mal!
10 Thou hast devised confusion to thy house, thou hast cut off many people, and thy soul hath sinned.	10 ¡Vergüenza para tu casa has sentenciado: al derribar a muchos pueblos, contra ti mismo pecas!
11 For the stone shall cry out of the wall: and the timber that is between the joints of the building, shall answer.	11 Porque la piedra grita desde el muro, y la viga desde el maderamen le responde.
12 Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and prepareth a city by iniquity.	12 ¡Ay de quien edifica una ciudad con sangre, y funda un pueblo en la injusticia!
13 Are not these things from the Lord of hosts? for the people shall labour in a great fire: and the nations in vain, and they shall faint.	13 ¿No viene de Yahveh Sebaot que los pueblos se fatiguen para el fuego y las gentes se agoten para nada?
14 For the earth shall be filled, that men may know the glory of the Lord, as waters covering the sea.	14 ¡Pues la tierra se llenará del conocimiento de la gloria de Yahveh, como las aguas cubren el mar!
15 Woe to him that giveth drink to his friend, and presenteth his gall, and maketh him drunk, that he may behold his nakedness.	15 ¡Ay del que da de beber a sus vecinos, y les añade su veneno hasta embriagarlos, para mirar su desnudez!
16 Thou art filled with shame instead of glory: drink thou also, and fall fast asleep: the cup of the right hand of the Lord shall compass thee, and shameful vomiting shall be on thy glory.	16 ¡Te has saciado de ignominia, no de gloria! ¡Bebe tú también y enseña tu prepucio! ¡A ti se vuelve el cáliz de la diestra de Yahveh, y la ignominia sobre tu gloria!
17 For the iniquity of Libanus shall cover thee, and the ravaging of beasts shall terrify them because of the blood of men, and the iniquity of the land, and of the city, and of all that dwell therein.	17 Pues la violencia hecha al Líbano te cubrirá y la matanza de los animales te aterrará, (por la sangre del hombre y la violencia a la tierra, a la ciudad y a todos los que la habitan).
18 What doth the graven thing avail, because the maker thereof hath graven it, a molten, and a false image? because the forger thereof hath trusted in a thing of his own forging, to make dumb idols.	18 ¿De qué sirve una escultura para que su autor la esculpa, una imagen fundida, un oráculo engañoso, para que en ellos confíe el autor de tal obra haciendo ídolos mudos?
19 Woe to him that saith to wood: Awake: to the dumb stone: Arise: can it teach? Behold, it is laid over with gold, and silver, and there is no spirit in the bowels thereof.	19 ¡Ay de quien dice al madero: «Despierta», «Levántate», a la piedra muda! ¿Da ello algún oráculo? ¡Está, sí, cubierto de oro y plata, pero ni un soplo en su interior!
20 But the Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.	20 Mas Yahveh está en su santo Templo: ¡silencio ante él, tierra entera!
