2 Maccabees 1

1 To the brethren the Jews that are I throughout Egypt, the brethren, the Jews that are in Jerusalem, and in the land of Judea, send health, and good peace.	1 A li fratelli Giudei, i quali sono per lo Egitto, salute dicono li fratelli Giudei i quali sono in Ierusalem, e quelli che sono nella regione Giudea, e buona pace.
2 May God be gracious to you, and remember his covenant that he made with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, his faithful servants:	2 Faccivi Iddio bene, e ricordisi del suo testamento, lo qual parlò ad Abraam e Isaac e Iacob, servi suoi fedeli.
3 And give you all a heart to worship him, and to do his will with a great heart, and a willing mind.	3 E dia a voi tal cuore, che voi l'amiate e facciate la sua volontà, con lo cuore grande e di buona volontà.
4 May he open your heart in his law, and in his commandments, and send you peace.	4 Apra (e illumini) il cuor vostro nella sua legge e nelli suoi comandamenti, e facciavi pace.
5 May he hear your prayers, and be reconciled unto you, and never forsake you in the evil time.	5 Esaudisca le vostre orazioni, e rimanga riconciliato con voi, e non vi abbandoni nel tempo pericoloso.
6 And now here we are praying for you.	6 E in questo tempo noi stiamo in orazione per voi.
7 When Demetrius reigned, in the year one hundred and sixty-nine, we Jews wrote to you, in the trouble, and violence, that came upon us in those years, after Jason withdrew himself from the holy land, and from the kingdom.	7 Regnando Demetrio, nell' anno centesimo sessagesimo nono, noi Giudei abbiamo scritto a voi nella tribulazione e nello impeto, ch' è sopravenuto a noi in questi anni, da quel tempo in qua che lasone si parti della terra santa e del regno
8 They burnt the gate, and shed innocent blood: then we prayed to the Lord, and were heard, and we offered sacrifices, and fine flour, and lighted the lamps, and set forth the leaves.	8 Hanno abbruciata la porta, e hanno isparso il sangue innocente; e noi pregammo il Signore, e siamo stati esauditi; e abbiamo offerto il sacrificio e la farina, e abbiamo offerti li pani.
9 And now celebrate ye the days of Scenopegia in the month of Casleu.	9 E [ora] frequentate i giorni della celebrazione de' tabernacoli del mese di decembre.
10 In the year Bone hundred and eightyeight, the people that is at Jerusalem, and in Judea, and the senate, and Judas, to Aristobolus, the preceptor of king Ptolemee, who is of the stock of the anointed priests, and to the Jews that are in Egypt, health and welfare.	10 Nell' anno centesimo ottogesimo ottavo il popolo, lo qual è in Ierusalem e in Giudea, e il senato e Giuda, ad Aristobolo, maestro di Tolomeo re, lo qual è della generazione de' sacerdoti unti, e a quelli Giudei i quali sono in Egitto, salute e sanità.
11 Having been delivered by God out of great dangers, we give him great thanks, forasmuch as we have been in war with such a king.	11 Noi, liberati di gran pericoli da Dio, referiamo magnifiche grazie a lui, sì come abbiamo combattuto contra uno così fatto re.
12 For he made numbers of men swarm out of Persia that have fought against us, and the holy city.	12 Esso certo fece uscire fuori di Persia coloro che combatterono contro a noi e contro alla città santa.
13 For when the leader himself was in Persia, and with him a very great army, he fell in the temple of Nanea, being deceived by the counsel of the priests of Nanea.	13 Però che essendo in Persia esso duca, e con lui esèrcito sanza numero, cadette nel templo di Nanea, ingannato dagli sacerdoti (de! templo) di Nanea.
14 For Antiochus, with his friends, came to the place as though he would marry her, and that he might receive great sums of money under the title of a dowry.	14 Antioco e li suoi amici venne a quel luogo, per abitar con lui, e per pigliare gran quantità di danari per nome di dote.
15 And when the priests of Nanea had set it forth, and he with a small company had entered into the compass of the temple, they shut the temple,	15 E avendoli offerti li sacerdoti di Nanea, lui con pochi essendovi entrati nel circuito del templo, serrarono il templo,
16 When Antiochus was came in: and opening a secret entrance of the temple, they cast stones and slew the leader, and them that were with him, and hewed them in pieces, and cutting off their heads they threw them forth.	16 essendovi entrato Antioco; e aperta una occulta entrata del templo, gettando per quella pietre, uccisero il duca e quegli i quali erano con lui; e tagliorono loro a pezzi, e tagliati loro i capi, li gettarono fuori.
17 Blessed be God in all things, who hath delivered up the wicked.	17 E in tutte queste cose benedetto sia Iddio, i quali gastiga e' malvagi.
18 Therefore whereas we purpose to keep the purification of the temple on the five and twentieth day of the month of Casleu, we thought it necessary to signify it to you: that you also may keep the day of Scenopegia, and the day of the fire, that was given when Nehemias offered sacrifice, after the temple and the altar was built.	18 Noi adunque, i quali abbiamo a fare la purificazione del templo nel vicesimo [quinto] dì del mese di decembre, abbiamo deliberato esser necessario di avvisarvi, acciò che anco voi facciate la festa de' tabernacoli, e lo dì del fuoco, lo qual fu dato quando Neemia offerse i sacrificii dopo la edificazione del templo e dell' altare.
19 For when our fathers were led in Persia, the priests that then were worshippers of God took privately the fire from the altar, and hid it in a valley where there was a deep pit without water, and there they kept it safe,	19 Però che quando i nostri padri erano [condotti in Persia] amatori di Dio, tolto il fuoco dell' altare occultamente, lo nascosero nella valle dove era uno pozzo profondo e secco, e in quello lo difenderono e conservarono, sì che a tutti era il luogo incognito.
20 But when many years had passed, and it pleased God that Nehemias should be sent by the king of Persia, he sent some of the posterity of those priests that had hid it, to seek for the fire: and as they told us, they found no fire, but thick water.	20 Ed essendo passati molti anni, e piacque a Dio che fosse mandato Neemia dal re di Persia, mandò Neemia i nepoti di quelli sacerdoti, i quali aveano nascosto il fuoco, a cercarlo; e come ci fu narrato, non trovorono il fuoco, ma acqua crassa (e spessa).
21 Then he bade them draw it up, and bring it to him: and the priest Nehemias commanded the sacrifices that were laid on, to be sprinkled with the same water, both the wood, and the things that were laid upon it.	21 E comandò loro che ne pigliassono, e la portassono a tui; e li sacrificii, ch' erano sopra posti, comandò Neemia sacerdote che fossono bagnati con questa acqua, e le legna ch' erano sopra poste.
22 And when this was done, and the time came that the sun shone out, which before was in a cloud, there was a great fire kindled, so that all wondered.	22 E fatto questo, e fu tempo che lo sole risplendette, lo quale prima era nel nuvolo, s' accese un gran fuoco, sì che tutti si maravegliarono.
23 And all the priests made prayer, while the sacrifice was consuming, Jonathan beginning, and the rest answering.	23 E tutti li sacerdoti facevano orazione, mentre che lo sacrificio si consumava, Ionata cominciando, e tutti gli altri rispondendo.
24 And the prayer of Nehemias was after this manner: 0 Lord God, Creator of all things, dreadful and strong, just and merciful, who alone art the goad king,	24 E Neemia faceva orazione in questo modo: Signore Iddio, creatore di tutti, terribile, forte e giusto e misericorde, lo quale sei buono re,
25 Who alone art gracious, who alone art just, and almighty, and eternal, who deliverest Israel from all evil, who didst choose the fathers and didst sanctify them :	25 solo soprastante (ed eccellente), solo giusto e onnipotente ed eterno, lo qual liberi Israel da ogni male, lo qual facesti li padri eletti, e santificasti loro,
26 Receive the sacrifice for all thy people Israel, and preserve thy own portion, and sanctify it.	26 ricevi questo sacrificio per tutto il popolo tuo Israel, e conserva la parte tua, e santifica.
27 Gather together our scattered people, deliver them that are slaves to the Gentiles, and look upon them that are despised and abhorred: that the Gentiles may know that thou art our God.	27 Congrega la dispersione nostra, libera loro i quali servono alle genti; quelli i quali sono in dispregio e in abominazione, fa che li guardi, acciò che sappino le genti, che tu sei Iddio nostro.
28 Punish them that oppress us, and that treat us injuriously with pride.	28 Affiiggi quelli i quali opprimono noi e ci ingiuriano nella loro superbia.
29 Establish thy people in thy holy place, as Moses hath spoken.	29 E poni e ordina il popolo tuo nel luogo santo tuo, sì come disse Moisè.
30 And the priests sung hymns till the sacrifice was consumed.	30 E li sacerdoti cantavano li inni, persino che fusse consumato lo sacrificio.
31 And when the sacrifice was consumed, Nehemias commanded the water that was left to be poured out upon the great stones.	31 Ed essendo consumato lo sacrificio, dello residuo deli' acqua Neemia comandò che fusse buttata. sopra le pietre maggiori.
32 Which being done, there -was kindled a dame from them: but it was consumed by the light that shined from the altar.	32 La qual cosa fatta, la fiamma s' accese in quelle; ma del lume, lo qual risplendette dall' altare, fu consumata.
33 And when this matter became public, it was told to the king of Persia, that in the place where the priests that were led away, had hid the fire, there appeared water, with which Nehemias and they that were with him had purified the sacrifices.	33 E manifestata che fu questa cosa, fu significato allo re di Persia, che era apparso acqua nel luogo nel quale i sacerdoti, i quali furono transferiti, aveano nascosto il fuoco; della qual Neemia, e quelli ch' erano con lui, aveano purificati i sacrificii.
34 And the king considering, and diligently examining the matter, made a temple for it, that he might prove what had happened.	34 E considerando il re, e diligentemente esaminando questa cosa, feceli uno templo, acciò che provasse quello ch' è fatto.
35 And when he had proved it, he gave the priests many goods, and divers presents, and he took end distributed them to them with his own hand.	35 E avendolo provato, diede ai sacerdoti molti beni e altri doni; e pigliandoli con le mani, dava loro.
36 And Nehemias called this place Nephthar, which is interpreted purification. But many call it Nephi.	36 E chiamò Neemia questo luogo NEFTAR, che è interpretato Purificazione; e anco chiamasi appo molti NEFI.
