DOUAI-RHEIMSSAGRADA BIBLIA
And he said to Moses: Come up to the Lord, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abiu, and seventy of the ancients of Israel, and you shall adore afar off.1 Deus disse a Moisés: "Sobe para o Senhor, com Aarão, Nadab e Abiú e setenta anciãos de Israel, e prostrai-vos à distância.
And Moses alone shall come up to the Lord, but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people come up with him.2 Só Moisés se aproximará do Senhor, e não os outros, e o povo não subirá com ele."
So Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice: We will do all the words of the Lord, which he hath spoken.3 Moisés veio referir ao povo todas as palavras do Senhor, e todas as suas leis; e o povo inteiro respondeu a uma voz: "Faremos tudo o que o Senhor disse."
And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord: and rising in the morning he built an altar at the foot of the mount, and twelve titles according to the twelve tribes of Israel.4 E Moisés escreveu todas as palavras do Senhor. No dia seguinte, de manhã, edificou um altar ao pé da montanha e levantou doze estelas para as doze tribos de Israel.
And he sent young men of the children of Israel, and they offered holocausts, and sacrificed pacific victims of calves to the Lord.5 Enviou jovens dentre os israelitas, os quais ofereceram holocaustos e sacrifícios ao Senhor e imolaram touros em sacrifícios pacíficos.
Then Moses took half of the blood, and put it into bowls: and the rest he poured upon the altar.6 Moisés tomou a metade do sangue para metê-lo em bacias, e derramou a outra metade sobre o altar.
And taking the book of the covenant, he read it in the hearing of the people: and they said: All things that the Lord hath spoken we will do, we will be obedient.7 Tomou o livro da aliança e o leu ao povo, que respondeu: "Faremos tudo o que o Senhor disse e seremos obedientes."
And he took the blood and sprinkled it upon the people, and he said: This is the blood of the covenant which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words.8 Moisés tomou o sangue para aspergir com ele o povo: "Eis, disse ele, o sangue da aliança que o Senhor fez convosco, conforme tudo o que foi dito."
Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abiu, and seventy of the ancients of Israel went up:9 Moisés subiu, com Aarão, Nadab e Abiú, e setenta anciãos de Israel.
And they saw the God of Israel: and under his feet as it were a work of sapphire stone, and as the heaven, when clear.10 Eles viram o Deus de Israel. Sob os seus pés havia como um lajeado de safiras transparentes, tão límpido como o próprio céu.
Neither did he lay his hand upon those of the children of Israel, that retired afar off, and they saw God, and they did eat and drink.11 Sobre os eleitos dos israelitas, Deus não estendeu a mão. Viram Deus, e depois comeram e beberam.
And the Lord said to Moses: Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and the law, and the commandments which I have written: that thou mayst teach them.12 O Senhor disse a Moisés: "Sobe para mim no monte. Ficarás ali para que eu te dê as tábuas de pedra, a lei e as ordenações que escrevi para sua instrução."
Moses rose up, and his minister Josue: and Moses going up into the mount of God,13 Moisés levantou-se com Josué, seu auxiliar, e subiu o monte de Deus.
Said to the ancients: Wait ye here till we return to you. You have Aaron and Hur with you: if any question shall arise, you shall refer it to them.14 E disse aos anciãos: "Esperai-nos aqui até que voltemos. Tendes convosco Aarão e Hur. Se alguém tiver um litígio, dirigir-se-á a eles."
And when Moses was gone up, a cloud covered the mount.15 Moisés subiu ao monte. A nuvem cobriu o monte
And the glory of the Lord dwelt upon Sinai, covering it with a cloud six days: and the seventh day he called him out of the midst of the cloud.16 e a glória do Senhor repousou sobre o monte Sinai, que ficou envolvido na nuvem durante seis dias. No sétimo dia, o Senhor chamou Moisés do seio da nuvem.
And the sight of the glory of the Lord was like a burning fire upon the top of the mount, in the eyes of the children of Israel.17 Aos olhos dos israelitas a glória do Senhor tinha o aspecto de um fogo consumidor sobre o cume do monte.
And Moses, entering into the midst of the cloud, went up into the mountain: and he was there forty days, and forty nights.18 Moisés penetrou na nuvem e subiu a montanha. Ficou ali quarenta dias e quarenta noites.
