Seconda lettera ai Corinzi 8

1 ORA, fratelli, noi vi facciamo assapere la grazia di Dio, ch’è stata data nelle chiese della Macedonia;	1 And so we are making known to you, brothers, the grace of God that has been given in the churches of Macedonia.
2 cioè: che in molta prova d’afflizione, l’abbondanza della loro allegrezza, e la lor profonda povertà è abbondata nelle ricchezze della loro liberalità.	2 For within a great experience of tribulation, they have had an abundance of joy, and their profound poverty has only increased the richness of their simplicity.
3 Poichè, secondo il poter loro, io ne rendo testimonianza, anzi, sopra il poter loro, sono stati volonterosi.	3 And I bear witness to them, that they were willing to accept what was in accord with their ability, and even what was beyond their ability.
4 Pregandoci, con molti conforti, d’accettar la grazia, e la comunione di questa sovvenzione che è per li santi.	4 For they were begging us, with great exhortation, for the grace and the communication of the ministry that is with the saints.
5 Ed hanno fatto, non solo come speravamo; ma imprima si son donati loro stessi al Signore; ed a noi, per la volontà di Dio.	5 And this is beyond what we had hoped, since they gave themselves, first of all to the Lord, and then also to us, through the will of God,
6 Talchè noi abbiamo esortato Tito che, come innanzi ha cominciato, così ancora compia eziandio presso voi questa grazia	6 so much so that we petitioned Titus, that in the same manner as he had begun, he would also complete in you this same grace.
7 Ma, come voi abbondate in ogni cosa, in fede, e in parola, ed in conoscenza, e in ogni studio, e nella carità vostra inverso noi; fate che abbondiate ancora in questa grazia.	7 But, just as in all things you abound in faith and in word and in knowledge and in all solicitude, and even more so in your charity toward us, so also may you abound in this grace.
8 Io non lo dico per comandamento; ma per lo studio degli altri, facendo prova ancora della schiettezza della vostra carità.	8 I am speaking, not commanding. But through the solicitude of others, I approve of the good character of your charity.
9 Perciocchè voi sapete la grazia del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo, come, essendo ricco, si è fatto povero per voi; acciocchè voi arricchiste per la sua povertà.	9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, he became poor for your sakes, so that through his poverty, you might become rich.
10 E do consiglio in questo; perciocchè questo è utile a voi, i quali non soltanto avete cominciato a fare, ma già ne avevate l’intenzione, fin dall’anno passato.	10 And about this, I give my counsel. For this is useful to those of you who, only a year earlier, had just begun to act, or even to be willing to act.
11 Ora, compiete dunque eziandio il fare; acciocchè, come vi è stata la prontezza del volere, così ancora vi sia il compiere secondo il vostro avere.	11 So, truly now, accomplish this in deed, so that, in the same manner as your willing mind is prompted, you may also act, out of that which you have.
12 Perciocchè, se vi è la prontezza dell’animo, uno è accettevole secondo ciò ch’egli ha, e non secondo ciò ch’egli non ha.	12 For when the will is prompted, it receives according to what that person has, not according to what that person does not have.
13 Poichè questo non si fa acciocchè vi sia alleggiamento per altri, ed aggravio per voi; ma, per far par pari, al tempo presente le vostra abbondanza sarà impiegata a sovvenire alla loro inopia.	13 And it is not that others should be relieved, while you are troubled, but that there should be an equality.
14 Acciocchè altresì la loro abbondanza sia impiegata a sovvenire alla vostra inopia; affinchè vi sia ugualità; secondo che è scritto:	14 In this present time, let your abundance supply their need, so that their abundance may also supply your need, in order that there may be an equality, just as it was written:
15 Chi ne avea raccolto assai, non n’ebbe di soverchio; e chi poco, non n’ebbe mancamento	15 “He with more did not have too much; and he with less did not have too little.”
16 Ora, ringraziato sia Iddio, che ha messo nel cuor di Tito lo stesso studio per voi.	16 But thanks be to God, who has granted to the heart of Titus, this same solicitude for you.
17 Poichè egli ha accettata l’esortazione; e in gran diligenza si è volonterosamente messo in cammino, per andare a voi.	17 For certainly, he accepted the exhortation. But since he was more solicitous, he went to you of his own free will.
18 Or noi abbiam mandato con lui questo fratello, la cui lode nell’evangelo è per tutte le chiese.	18 And we have even sent with him a brother whose praise accompanies the Gospel throughout all the churches.
19 E non sol questo; ma ancora è stato dalle chiese eletto, per esser nostro compagno di viaggio con questa sovvenzione, ch’è da noi amministrata alla gloria del Signore stesso, ed al servigio della prontezza dell’animo vostro;	19 And not only that, but he was also chosen by the churches to be a companion for our sojourn in this grace, which is ministered by us with our determined will, to the glory of the Lord.
20 schivando noi questo: che niuno ci biasimi in quest’abbondanza, che è da noi amministrata;	20 So let us avoid this, lest anyone disparage us over the abundance that is ministered by us.
21 procurando cose oneste, non solo nel cospetto del Signore, ma ancora nel cospetto degli uomini.	21 For we provide for what is good, not only in the sight of God, but also in the sight of men.
22 Or noi abbiam mandato con loro questo nostro fratello, il quale abbiamo spesse volte, in molte cose, sperimentato esser diligente, ed ora lo è molto più, per la molta confidanza che si ha di voi.	22 And we have also sent with them our brother, whom we have proven to be frequently solicitous in many matters. But now there is a greater solicitousness, which is greatly entrusted to you;
23 Quant’è a Tito, egli è mio consorte, e compagno d’opera inverso voi; quant’è a’ fratelli, sono apostoli delle chiese, gloria di Cristo.	23 and whether it concerns Titus, who is a companion to me and a helper to you, or whether it concerns our brothers, the Apostles of the churches, it is to the glory of Christ.
24 Dimostrate adunque inverso loro, nel cospetto delle chiese, la prova della vostra carità, e di ciò che ci gloriamo di voi	24 Therefore, in the sight of the churches, show them the proof of your charity and of our glorying about you.
