DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Cantico di Maalot. RICORDATI, Signore, di Davide, E di tutte le sue afflizioni.	1 [Song of Ascents] Yahweh, remember David and al the hardships he endured,
2 Come egli giurò al Signore, E fece voto al Possente di Giacobbe, dicendo:	2 the oath he swore to Yahweh, his vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3 Se io entro nel tabernacolo della mia casa, Se salgo sopra la lettiera del mio letto;	3 'I wil not enter tent or house, wil not climb into bed,
4 Se do alcun sonno agli occhi miei, O alcun sonnecchiare alle mie palpebre;	4 will not al ow myself to sleep, not even to close my eyes,
5 Infino a tanto che io abbia trovato un luogo al Signore, Degli abitacoli al Possente di Giacobbe.	5 til I have found a place for Yahweh, a dwel ing for the Mighty One of Jacob!'
6 Ecco, noi abbiamo udito che l’Arca era stata nella contrada Efratea; Poi la trovammo ne’ campi di Iaar.	6 Listen, we heard of it in Ephrathah, we found it at Forest-Fields.
7 Entriamo negli abitacoli del Signore; Adoriamo allo scannello de’ suoi piedi.	7 Let us go into his dwel ing-place, and worship at his footstool.
8 Levati, Signore; Tu, e l’Arca della tua forza, per entrar nel tuo riposo.	8 Go up, Yahweh, to your resting-place, you and the ark of your strength.
9 I tuoi sacerdoti sieno rivestiti di giustizia, E giubilino i tuoi santi.	9 Your priests are robed in saving justice, your faithful are shouting for joy.
10 Per amor di Davide, tuo servitore, Non negare al tuo unto la sua richiesta	10 For the sake of your servant David, do not reject your anointed.
11 Il Signore giurò verità a Davide, E non la rivocherà, dicendo: Io metterò sopra il tuo trono del frutto del tuo ventre.	11 Yahweh has sworn to David, and wil always remain true to his word, 'I promise that I wil set a sonof yours upon your throne.
12 Se i tuoi figliuoli osservano il mio patto, E la mia testimonianza, che io insegnerò loro; Essi, e i lor figliuoli in perpetuo, Sederanno sopra il tuo trono.	12 If your sons observe my covenant and the instructions I have taught them, their sons too forevermore wil occupy your throne.'
13 Perciocchè il Signore ha eletta Sion; Egli l’ha gradita per sua stanza, dicendo:	13 For Yahweh has chosen Zion, he has desired it as a home.
14 Questo è il mio riposo in perpetuo, Qui abiterò; perciocchè questo è il luogo che io ho desiderato.	14 'Here shal I rest for evermore, here shal I make my home as I have wished.
15 Io benedirò largamente la sua vittuaglia; Io sazierò di pane i suoi poveri.	15 'I shal generously bless her produce, give her needy their fil of food,
16 E vestirò i suoi sacerdoti di vesti di liberazione; E i suoi santi giubileranno in gran letizia.	16 I shal clothe her priests with salvation, and her faithful wil sing aloud for joy.
17 Quivi farò germogliare un corno a Davide; E terrò accesa una lampana al mio unto.	17 'There I shal raise up a line of descendants for David, light a lamp for my anointed;
18 Io vestirò i suoi nemici di vergogna; E la sua benda reale fiorirà sopra lui	18 I shal clothe his enemies with shame, while his own crown shall flourish.'
