DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 OR Iddio si ricordò di Noè, e di tutte le fiere, e di tutti gli animali domestici ch’erano con lui nell’Arca; e fece passare un vento in su la terra; e le acque si posarono.	1 But God had Noah in mind, and al the wild animals and all the cattle that were with him in the ark. Godsent a wind across the earth and the waters began to subside.
2 Ed essendo state le fonti dell’abisso e le cateratte del cielo serrate, e rattenuta la pioggia del cielo,	2 The springs of the deep and the sluices of heaven were stopped up and the heavy rain from heavenwas held back.
3 le acque andarono del continuo ritirandosi d’in su la terra. Al termine adunque di cencinquanta giorni cominciarono a scemare	3 Little by little, the waters ebbed from the earth. After a hundred and fifty days the waters fel ,
4 E, nel decimosettimo giorno del settimo mese, l’Arca si fermò sopra le montagne di Ararat.	4 and in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountainsof Ararat.
5 E le acque andarono scemando fino al decimo mese. Nel primo giorno del decimo mese, le sommità de’ monti apparvero	5 The waters gradual y fell until the tenth month when, on the first day of the tenth month, the mountaintops appeared.
6 E, in capo di quaranta giorni, Noè aperse la finestra dell’Arca, ch’egli avea fatta.	6 At the end of forty days Noah opened the window he had made in the ark
7 E mandò fuori il corvo, il quale usciva del continuo fuori, e tornava, fin che le acque furono asciutte d’in su la terra.	7 and released a raven, which flew back and forth as it waited for the waters to dry up on earth.
8 Poi mandò d’appresso a sè la colomba, per veder se le acque erano scemate d’in su la faccia della terra.	8 He then released a dove, to see whether the waters were receding from the surface of the earth.
9 Ma la colomba, non trovando ove posar la pianta del piè, se ne ritornò a lui dentro l’Arca; perciocchè v’erano ancora delle acque sopra la faccia di tutta la terra. Ed egli, stesa la mano, la prese, e l’accolse a sè, dentro l’Arca.	9 But the dove, finding nowhere to perch, returned to him in the ark, for there was water over the wholesurface of the earth; putting out his hand he took hold of it and brought it back into the ark with him.
10 Ed egli aspettò sette altri giorni, e di nuovo mandò la colomba fuor dell’Arca.	10 After waiting seven more days, he again released the dove from the ark.
11 Ed in sul tempo del vespro, la colomba ritornò a lui; ed ecco, avea nel becco una fronde spiccata di un ulivo; onde Noè conobbe che le acque erano scemate d’in su la terra.	11 In the evening, the dove came back to him and there in its beak was a freshly-picked olive leaf! SoNoah realised that the waters were receding from the earth.
12 Ed egli aspettò sette altri giorni, e mandò fuori la colomba, ed essa non ritornò più a lui	12 After waiting seven more days, he released the dove, and now it returned to him no more.
13 E, nell’anno seicentunesimo di Noè, nel primo giorno del primo mese, le acque furono asciutte d’in su la terra. E Noè, levato il coperto dell’Arca, vide che la faccia della terra era asciutta.	13 It was in the six hundred and first year of Noah's life, in the first month and on the first of the month,that the waters began drying out on earth. Noah lifted back the hatch of the ark and looked out. The surface ofthe ground was dry!
14 E, nel ventisettesimo giorno del secondo mese, la terra era tutta asciutta	14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.
15 E Iddio parlò a Noè, dicendo:	15 Then God said to Noah,
16 Esci fuor dell’Arca, tu, e la tua moglie, ed i tuoi figliuoli, e le mogli de’ tuoi figliuoli teco.	16 'Come out of the ark, you, your wife, your sons, and your sons' wives with you.
17 Fa uscir fuori teco tutti gli animali che son teco, di qualunque carne, degli uccelli, delle bestie, e di tutti i rettili che serpono sopra la terra; e lascia che scorrano per la terra, e figlino, e moltiplichino in su la terra.	17 Bring out all the animals with you, all living things, the birds, the cattle and al the creeping things thatcreep along the ground, for them to swarm on earth, for them to breed and multiply on earth.'
18 E Noè uscì fuori, co’ suoi figliuoli, e con la sua moglie, e con le mogli de’ suoi figliuoli.	18 So Noah came out with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives.
19 Tutte le bestie ancora, e tutti i rettili, e tutti gli uccelli, e tutti gli animali che si muovono sopra la terra, secondo le lor generazioni, uscirono fuor dell’Arca	19 And al the wild animals, al the cattle, al the birds and al the creeping things that creep along theground, came out of the ark, one species after another.
20 E Noè edificò un altare al Signore; e prese d’ogni specie di animali mondi, e d’ogni specie di uccelli mondi, ed offerse olocausti sopra l’altare.	20 Then Noah built an altar to Yahweh and, choosing from al the clean animals and all the clean birds hepresented burnt offerings on the altar.
21 E il Signore odorò un odor soave; e disse nel cuor suo: Io non maledirò più la terra per l’uomo; conciossiachè l’immaginazione del cuor dell’uomo sia malvagia fin dalla sua fanciullezza; e non percoterò più ogni cosa vivente, come ho fatto.	21 Yahweh smelt the pleasing smell and said to himself, 'Never again wil I curse the earth because ofhuman beings, because their heart contrives evil from their infancy. Never again wil I strike down every livingthing as I have done.
22 Da ora innanzi, quanto durerà la terra, sementa e ricolta, freddo e caldo, state e verno, giorno e notte giammai non cesseranno	22 As long as earth endures: seed-time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and nightwil never cease.'
