1 Dio vendicatore, Signore,Dio vendicatore, risplendi!	1 LORD, avenging God, avenging God, shine forth!
2 Àlzati, giudice della terra,rendi ai superbi quello che si meritano!	2 Rise up, judge of the earth; give the proud what they deserve.
3 Fino a quando i malvagi, Signore,fino a quando i malvagi trionferanno?	3 How long, LORD, shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked glory?
4 Sparleranno, diranno insolenze,si vanteranno tutti i malfattori?	4 How long will they mouth haughty speeches, go on boasting, all these evildoers?
5 Calpestano il tuo popolo, Signore,opprimono la tua eredità.	5 They crush your people, LORD, torment your very own.
6 Uccidono la vedova e il forestiero,massacrano gli orfani.	6 They kill the widow and alien; the fatherless they murder.
7 E dicono: «Il Signore non vede,il Dio di Giacobbe non intende».	7 They say, "The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob takes no notice."
8 Intendete, ignoranti del popolo:stolti, quando diventerete saggi?	8 Understand, you stupid people! You fools, when will you be wise?
9 Chi ha formato l’orecchio, forse non sente?Chi ha plasmato l’occhio, forse non vede?	9 Does the one who shaped the ear not hear? The one who formed the eye not see?
10 Colui che castiga le genti, forse non punisce,lui che insegna all’uomo il sapere?	10 Does the one who guides nations not rebuke? The one who teaches humans not have knowledge?
11 Il Signore conosce i pensieri dell’uomo:non sono che un soffio.	11 The LORD does know human plans; they are only puffs of air.
12 Beato l’uomo che tu castighi, Signore,e a cui insegni la tua legge,	12 Happy those whom you guide, LORD, whom you teach by your instruction.
13 per dargli riposo nei giorni di sventura,finché al malvagio sia scavata la fossa;	13 You give them rest from evil days, while a pit is being dug for the wicked.
14 poiché il Signore non respinge il suo popoloe non abbandona la sua eredità,	14 You, LORD, will not forsake your people, nor abandon your very own.
15 il giudizio ritornerà a essere giustoe lo seguiranno tutti i retti di cuore.	15 Judgment shall again be just, and all the upright of heart will follow it.
16 Chi sorgerà per me contro i malvagi?Chi si alzerà con me contro i malfattori?	16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand up for me against evildoers?
17 Se il Signore non fosse stato il mio aiuto,in breve avrei abitato nel regno del silenzio.	17 If the LORD were not my help, I would long have been silent in the grave.
18 Quando dicevo: «Il mio piede vacilla»,la tua fedeltà, Signore, mi ha sostenuto.	18 When I say, "My foot is slipping," your love, LORD, holds me up.
19 Nel mio intimo, fra molte preoccupazioni,il tuo conforto mi ha allietato.	19 When cares increase within me, your comfort gives me joy.
20 Può essere tuo alleato un tribunale iniquo,che in nome della legge provoca oppressioni?	20 Can unjust judges be your allies, those who create burdens in the name of law,
21 Si avventano contro la vita del giustoe condannano il sangue innocente.	21 Those who conspire against the just and condemn the innocent to death?
22 Ma il Signore è il mio baluardo,roccia del mio rifugio è il mio Dio.	22 No, the LORD is my secure height, my God, the rock where I find refuge,
23 Su di loro farà ricadere la loro malizia,li annienterà per la loro perfidia,li annienterà il Signore, nostro Dio.	23 Who will turn back their evil upon them and destroy them for their wickedness. Surely the LORD our God will destroy them!
