1 Ecco i figli d’Israele, secondo il loro numero, i capi di casato, i comandanti di migliaia e di centinaia, i loro scribi al servizio del re, secondo le loro classi, delle quali una entrava e l’altra usciva, ogni mese, per tutti i mesi dell’anno. Ogni classe comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.	1 The Israelites listed according to heads of families, commanders of thousands and hundreds, withtheir officials in the king's service who dealt with al matters affecting the companies on monthly duty, month bymonth throughout the year, each company consisting of twenty-four thousand men:
2 Alla prima classe, in funzione nel primo mese, presiedeva Iasobàm, figlio di Zabdièl; la sua classe era di ventiquattromila.	2 The commander of the first company detailed for the first month was Jashobeam son of Zabdiel,whose company consisted of twenty-four thousand men.
3 Egli era dei discendenti di Peres ed era il capo di tutti i comandanti dell’esercito, per il primo mese.	3 He belonged to the family of Perez and was the senior military officer of al those detailed for the firstmonth.
4 Alla classe del secondo mese presiedeva Dodài di Acòach; la sua classe era di ventiquattromila uomini.	4 The commander of the company for the second month was Dodai the Ahohite, whose companyconsisted of twenty-four thousand men.
5 Al terzo gruppo, per il terzo mese, presiedeva Benaià, figlio di Ioiadà, sommo sacerdote; la sua classe era di ventiquattromila uomini.	5 The officer commanding the third body of men for the third month was Benaiah son of Jehoiada, thechief priest, whose company consisted of twenty-four thousand men.
6 Questo Benaià era un prode dei Trenta e aveva il comando dei Trenta e della sua classe. Suo figlio era Ammizabàd.	6 This was the Benaiah who was an important member of the Thirty and his company. His son wasAmmizabad.
7 Quarto, per il quarto mese, era Asaèl, fratello di Ioab, e, dopo di lui, Zebadia, suo figlio; la sua classe era di ventiquattromila uomini.	7 The fourth for the fourth month was Asahel brother of Joab, and his son Zebadiah after him, whosecompany consisted of twenty-four thousand men.
8 Quinto, per il quinto mese, era il comandante Samut, di Zerach; la sua classe era di ventiquattromila uomini.	8 The fifth officer commanding for the fifth month was Shamhuth the Zerahite, whose companyconsisted of twenty-four thousand men.
9 Sesto, per il sesto mese, era Ira, figlio di Ikkes, di Tekòa; la sua classe era di ventiquattromila uomini.	9 The sixth for the sixth month was Ira son of Ikkesh of Tekoa, whose company consisted of twenty-fourthousand men.
10 Settimo, per il settimo mese, era Cheles, di Pelon, dei discendenti di Èfraim; la sua classe era di ventiquattromila uomini.	10 The seventh for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, one of the Ephraimites, whose companyconsisted of twenty-four thousand men.
11 Ottavo, per l’ottavo mese, era Sibbecài, di Cusa, lo Zerachita; la sua classe era di ventiquattromila uomini.	11 The eighth for the eighth month was Sibbecai of Hushah, a Zerahite, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.
12 Nono, per il nono mese, era Abièzer, di Anatòt, il Beniaminita; la sua classe era di ventiquattromila uomini.	12 The ninth for the ninth month was Abiezer of Anathoth, a Benjaminite, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.
13 Decimo, per il decimo mese, era Marài, di Netofà, lo Zerachita; la sua classe era di ventiquattromila uomini.	13 The tenth for the tenth month was Maharai of Netophah, a Zerahite, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.
14 Undicesimo, per l’undicesimo mese, era Benaià, di Piratòn, dei discendenti di Èfraim; la sua classe era di ventiquattromila uomini.	14 The eleventh for the eleventh month was Benaiah of Pirathon, an Ephraimite, whose companyconsisted of twenty-four thousand men.
15 Dodicesimo, per il dodicesimo mese, era Cheldài, di Netofà, della stirpe di Otnièl; la sua classe era di ventiquattromila uomini.	15 The twelfth for the twelfth month was Heldai of Netophah, of Othniel, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.
16 Riguardo alle tribù d’Israele: della tribù di Ruben era condottiero Elièzer, figlio di Zikrì; di quella di Simeone, Sefatia, figlio di Maacà;	16 Responsible for the tribes of Israel were chief Eliezer son of Zichri for the Reubenites, Shephatiahson of Maacah for the Simeonites,
17 di quella di Levi, Casabia, figlio di Kemuèl; degli Arònnidi, Sadoc;	17 Hashabiah son of Kemuel for the Levites, Zadok for the Aaronites,
18 di quella di Giuda, Eliu, dei fratelli di Davide; di quella di Ìssacar, Omri, figlio di Michele;	18 Elihu, one of David's brothers, for Judah, Omri son of Michael for Issachar,
19 di quella di Zàbulon, Ismaia, figlio di Abdia; di quella di Nèftali, Ierimòt, figlio di Azrièl;	19 Ishmaiah son of Obadiah for Zebulun, Jerimoth son of Azriel for Naphtali,
20 degli Efraimiti, Osea, figlio di Azazia; di una metà della tribù di Manasse, Gioele, figlio di Pedaià;	20 Hoshea son of Azaziah for the Ephraimites, Joel son of Pedaiah for the half-tribe of Manasseh,
21 dell’altra metà della tribù di Manasse in Gàlaad, Iddo, figlio di Zaccaria; di quella di Beniamino, Iaasièl, figlio di Abner;	21 Iddo son of Zechariah for the half-tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Jaasiel son of Abner for Benjamin,
22 di quella di Dan, Azarèl, figlio di Ierocàm. Questi erano i capi delle tribù d’Israele.	22 and Azarel son of Jeroham for Dan. These were the tribal chiefs of Israel.
23 Davide non fece il censimento di quelli al di sotto dei vent’anni, perché il Signore aveva detto che avrebbe moltiplicato Israele come le stelle del cielo.	23 Now in the census David did not include those who were twenty years old and under, since Yahwehhad promised to make Israel as numerous as the stars of heaven.
24 Ioab, figlio di Seruià, aveva cominciato il censimento, ma non lo terminò; proprio per questo si scatenò l’ira su Israele. Questo censimento non fu registrato nel libro delle Cronache del re Davide.	24 Joab son of Zeruiah began the count but never finished. This is why retribution came upon Israel,and the number did not come up to that recorded in the annals of King David.
25 Sovrintendenti: ai tesori del re, Azmàvet, figlio di Adièl; ai tesori che erano nella campagna, nelle città, nei villaggi e nelle torri, Giònata, figlio di Ozia;	25 Overseer of the king's supplies: Azmaveth son of Adiel. Overseer of supplies in the countryside,towns, vil ages and fortresses: Jonathan son of Uzziah.
26 agli operai agricoli, per la lavorazione del suolo, Ezrì, figlio di Chelub;	26 Overseer of the farmers who til ed the land: Ezri son of Chelub.

28 agli oliveti e ai sicomòri nella Sefela, Baal-Canan, di Gheder; ai depositi di olio, Ioas;	28 Overseer of olive and sycamore trees in the Shephelah: Baal-Hanan of Geder. Overseer of oilsupplies: Joash.
29 agli armenti che pascolavano nella pianura di Saron, il Saronita Sitrài; agli armenti nelle valli, Safat, figlio di Adlài;	29 Overseer of cattle at pasture in the plains of Sharon: Shitrai of Sharon. Overseer of cattle in theval eys: Shaphat son of Adlai.
30 ai cammelli, Obil, l’Ismaelita; alle asine, Iecdia, di Meronòt;	30 Overseer of camels: Obil the Ishmaelite.
31 alle pecore, Iaziz, l’Agareno. Tutti costoro erano sovrintendenti ai beni del re Davide.	31 Overseer of donkeys: Jehdeiah of Meranoth. Overseer of flocks: Jaziz the Hagrite. Al the abovesupervised the property belonging to King David.
32 Giònata, zio di Davide, era consigliere; uomo intelligente e scriba, egli insieme con Iechièl, figlio di Acmonì, si occupava dei figli del re.	32 Jonathan, David's uncle, a council or, wise man and scribe, and Jehiel son of Hachmoni took care ofthe king's sons.
33 Achitòfel era consigliere del re; Cusài, l’Arkita, era amico del re.	33 Ahitophel was the king's counsellor and Hushai, the Archite, was Friend of the King.
34 Ad Achitòfel successero Ioiadà, figlio di Benaià, ed Ebiatàr. Comandante dell’esercito del re era Ioab.	34 Jehoiada son of Benaiah and Abiathar succeeded Ahitophel -- Joab was commander of the king'sarmy.
