1 Lorsque arriva la fête de la Pentecôte, ils étaient tous réunis.	1 And when the days of the Pentecost were accomplished, they were all together in one place:
2 Un bruit soudain se fit entendre dans le ciel, comme une violente rafale, et il remplit toute la maison où ils se trouvaient.	2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a mighty wind coming, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3 Ils virent comme un feu qui se divisait, et sur chacun d’eux se posait une des langues de ce feu.	3 And there appeared to them parted tongues as it were of fire, and it sat upon every one of them:
4 Tous furent remplis de l’Esprit Saint et ils se mirent à parler en d’autres langues dans lesquelles l’Esprit leur donnait de s’exprimer.	4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they began to speak with divers tongues, according as the Holy Ghost gave them to speak.
5 Il y avait alors à Jérusalem des Juifs de passage, des croyants venus de toutes les nations qui sont sous le ciel.	5 Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem, Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6 Et ces gens, quel que soit leur dialecte, les entendirent s’exprimer dans leur propre langue, car le bruit qui s’était produit avait attiré la foule. Ils n’en revenaient pas!	6 And when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded in mind, because that every man heard them speak in his own tongue.
7 Ils étaient stupéfaits, étonnés: "Ce sont tous des Galiléens, disaient-ils, et voyez comme ils parlent!	7 And they were all amazed, and wondered, saying: Behold, are not all these, that speak, Galileans?
8 Chacun de nous les entend s’exprimer dans sa propre langue.	8 And how have we heard, every man our own tongue wherein we were born?
9 Que nous soyons Parthes ou Mèdes ou Élamites, habitants de Mésopotamie, de Judée ou de Cappadoce, du Pont et de l’Asie,	9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea, and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
10 de Phrygie et de Pamphylie, d’Égypte ou de la Libye en allant sur Cyrène,	10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome,
11 que nous soyons des Juifs installés à Rome ou des prosélytes, des Crétois ou des Arabes, nous les entendons proclamer dans nos diverses langues les merveilles de Dieu!”	11 Jews also, and proselytes, Cretes, and Arabians: we have heard them speak in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.
12 Ils étaient tous stupéfaits et se demandaient les uns aux autres ce que cela signifiait.	12 And they were all astonished, and wondered, saying one to another: What meaneth this?
13 Certains répondaient en riant: "Ils ont simplement bu plus que leur compte.”	13 But others mocking, said: These men are full of new wine.
14 C’est alors que Pierre s’avança et prit la parole; les Onze étaient avec lui. Il leur cria: "Écoutez donc, amis juifs et vous tous qui êtes de passage à Jérusalem, j’ai quelque chose à vous apprendre.	14 But Peter standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spoke to them: Ye men of Judea, and all you that dwell in Jerusalem, be this known to you, and with your ears receive my words.
15 Ne pensez pas que nous avons bu: il n’est encore que neuf heures du matin.	15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day:
16 C’est simplement ce qu’avait annoncé le prophète Joël:	16 But this is that which was spoken of by the prophet Joel:
17 Dans les derniers jours, dit Dieu, voici ce qui aura lieu: je communiquerai mon Esprit aux humains, quels qu’ils soient. Vos fils et vos filles prophétiseront, vos jeunes auront des visions, et vos vieillards des révélations en songes.	17 And it shall come to pass, in the last days, (saith the Lord,) I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Même sur mes serviteurs, sur mes servantes, je répandrai mon Esprit en ces jours-là et ils prophétiseront.	18 And upon my servants indeed, and upon my handmaids will I pour out in those days of my spirit, and they shall prophesy.
19 Je réaliserai des prodiges là-haut dans le ciel et des signes ici-bas sur la terre: sang et feu et nuée ardente.	19 And I will shew wonders in the heaven above, and signs on the earth beneath: blood and fire, and vapour of smoke.
20 Le soleil se changera en ténèbres et la lune en sang avant la venue du grand jour du Seigneur.	20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and manifest day of the Lord come.
21 Alors sera sauvé, quel qu’il soit, celui qui invoquera le Nom du Seigneur.	21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved.
22 “Hommes d’Israël, écoutez bien ces paroles: Dieu avait accrédité au milieu de vous un homme, Jésus de Nazareth. Dieu lui avait donné de faire au milieu de vous des miracles, des choses étonnantes et des signes, vous le savez tous.	22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you, by miracles, and wonders, and signs, which God did by him, in the midst of you, as you also know:
23 Cependant vous l’avez livré, vous l’avez fait supplicier et mourir par la main des païens; cela répondait à un plan de Dieu qui d’avance avait prévu cela.	23 This same being delivered up, by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you by the hands of wicked men have crucified and slain.
24 Mais Dieu l’a délivré des douleurs de la mort et l’a ressuscité: le royaume des morts ne pouvait pas le garder.	24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the sorrows of hell, as it was impossible that he should be holden by it.
25 “Voyez ce que David dit à son sujet: Je garde toujours le Seigneur devant mes yeux; s’il se tient à ma droite, qui pourra m’ébranler?	25 For David saith concerning him: I foresaw the Lord before my face: because he is at my right hand, that I may not be moved.
26 J’en ai le cœur joyeux, ma langue le chante, même ma chair en éprouve sécurité;	26 For this my heart hath been glad, and any tongue hath rejoiced: moreover my flesh also shall rest in hope.
27 car tu ne donneras pas mon âme au royaume des morts, tu ne voudras pas pour ton fidèle l’expérience de la corruption.	27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, nor suffer thy Holy One to see corruption.
28 Tu me feras connaître le chemin de la vie, une plénitude de joie en ta présence.	28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life: thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
29 “Frères, je n’ai pas besoin de vous prouver que notre patriarche David est mort et qu’il a été enterré: son tombeau est toujours là chez nous.	29 Ye men, brethren, let me freely speak to you of the patriarch David; that he died, and was buried; and his sepulchre is with us to this present day.
30 Mais il était prophète: Dieu lui avait juré qu’un fils de son sang régnerait sur son trône et, sachant cela,	30 Whereas therefore he was a prophet, and knew that God hath sworn to him with an oath, that of the fruit of his loins one should sit upon his throne.
31 quand il parlait de ne pas rester au pouvoir de la mort et de ne pas connaître la corruption de sa chair, il avait en vue la résurrection du Messie.	31 Foreseeing this, he spoke of the resurrection of Christ. For neither was he left in hell, neither did his flesh see corruption.
32 “C’est ainsi que Dieu a ressuscité Jésus: nous en sommes tous témoins.	32 This Jesus hath God raised again, whereof all we are witnesses.
33 Une fois élevé à la droite de Dieu, Jésus a reçu du Père le don qu’il promettait, c’est-à-dire l’Esprit Saint, et il l’a répandu: c’est ce que vous venez de voir et d’entendre.	33 Being exalted therefore by the right hand of God, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath poured forth this which you see and hear.
34 “David n’était pas monté au ciel, mais il avait dit: Le Seigneur a dit à mon Seigneur: Siège à ma droite,	34 For David ascended not into heaven; but he himself said: The Lord said to my Lord, sit thou on my right hand,
35 le temps que je fasse de tes ennemis un escabeau pour tes pieds.	35 Until I make thy enemies thy footstool.
36 “Toute la maison d’Israël doit donc savoir en toute certitude que Dieu a fait Seigneur et Messie ce Jésus que vous avez crucifié.”	36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know most certainly, that God hath made both Lord and Christ, this same Jesus, whom you have crucified.
37 En entendant cela, tous furent pris de remords. Ils dirent à Pierre et aux autres apôtres: "Frères, que devons-nous faire?”	37 Now when they had heard these things, they had compunction in their heart, and said to Peter, and to the rest of the apostles: What shall we do, men and brethren?
38 Pierre leur dit: "Repentez-vous et que chacun de vous se fasse baptiser au nom de Jésus, le Messie, pour obtenir le pardon de ses péchés. Alors vous recevrez le don de l’Esprit Saint.	38 But Peter said to them: Do penance, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins: and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 Car la promesse est pour vous, pour vos enfants et pour tous ceux que le Seigneur Dieu voudra appeler, même s’ils se sont éloignés.”	39 For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are far off, whomsoever the Lord our God shall call.
40 Pierre continua et insista, leur disant bien d’autres choses. Il les pressait et leur répétait: "Sauvez-vous, laissez là cette génération égarée!”	40 And with very many other words did he testify and exhort them, saying: Save yourselves from this perverse generation.
41 Beaucoup de gens accueillirent ses paroles et furent baptisés; ce jour-là près de 3 000 personnes vinrent s’ajouter.	41 They therefore that received his word, were baptized; and there were added in that day about three thousand souls.
42 Elles venaient de façon assidue pour l’enseignement des apôtres, le partage communautaire, la fraction du pain et les prières.	42 And they were persevering in the doctrine of the apostles, and in the communication of the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43 Tout le monde en était impressionné, d’autant qu’à Jérusalem de nombreux signes et prodiges se réalisaient par les mains des apôtres.	43 And fear came upon every soul: many wonders also and signs were done by the apostles in Jerusalem, and there was great fear in all.
44 Tous ceux qui avaient cru se retrouvaient ensemble: ils mettaient tout en commun	44 And all they that believed, were together, and had all things common.
45 et vendaient leurs propriétés, leurs biens, partageant avec tous ceux qui étaient dans le besoin.	45 Their possessions and goods they sold, and divided them to all, according as every one had need.
46 Ils se retrouvaient tous les jours avec un même entrain dans le Temple; ils avaient à leur domicile la fraction du pain et ils prenaient leur nourriture dans la joie et la simplicité du cœur.	46 And continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they took their meat with gladness and simplicity of heart;
47 Ils louaient Dieu et tout le peuple leur était favorable; le Seigneur amenait de jour en jour à l’Église ceux qu’il continuait de sauver.	47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord increased daily together such as should be saved.
