1 Yahvé dit à Moïse:	1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 “Voici ce que tu diras aux Israélites: lorsqu’une femme aura été fécondée et donnera le jour à un garçon, elle sera impure durant sept jours comme elle est impure à la période de ses règles.	2 Speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them: A woman, if she has received the seed to bear a male, shall be unclean for seven days, just as in the days of separation due to menstruation.
3 Le huitième jour l’enfant sera circoncis dans sa chair, son prépuce.	3 And on the eighth day, the little infant shall be circumcised.
4 Elle, elle restera 33 jours à se purifier de son sang, elle ne touchera aucune chose sainte et n’entrera pas dans le sanctuaire jusqu’au jour où s’achèvera le temps de sa purification.	4 Yet truly, she herself shall remain for thirty-three days in the blood of her purification. She shall not touch anything holy, nor shall she enter into the Sanctuary, until the days of her purification are completed.
5 Si elle a mis au monde une fille, elle sera impure durant deux semaines, comme au temps de ses règles, puis elle restera 66 jours à se purifier de son sang.	5 But if she will bear a female, she shall be unclean for two weeks, according to the custom of her monthly flow, and she shall remain in the blood of her purification for sixty-six days.
6 Lorsque le temps de sa purification sera accompli, pour un fils comme pour une fille, elle présentera au prêtre à l’entrée de la Tente du Rendez-Vous, un agneau d’un an pour l’holocauste et un jeune pigeon ou une tourterelle pour le sacrifice pour le péché.	6 And when the days of her purification have been completed, for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring to the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, a one-year-old lamb as a holocaust, and a young pigeon or a turtledove for sin, and she shall deliver them to the priest.
7 Le prêtre les offrira devant Yahvé et fera pour elle l’expiation, alors elle sera pure de son flux de sang. Voici la loi concernant la femme qui met au monde un fils ou une fille.	7 He shall offer them in the sight of the Lord, and he shall pray for her. And so she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for one who bears a male or a female.
8 Si la femme n’a pas de quoi se procurer un agneau, elle prendra deux tourterelles ou deux jeunes pigeons, l’un pour l’holocauste et l’autre pour le sacrifice pour le péché. Le prêtre fera pour elle l’expiation et elle sera purifiée.”	8 And if her hand has not obtained or been able to offer a lamb, she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons: one as a holocaust, and the other for sin. And the priest shall pray for her, and so she shall be cleansed.
