Epistola di Santo Paulo alli Colossensi 2

1 Voglio che voi sappiate quale sollecitudine abbia per voi, e per tutti coloro che sono nella vostra provincia di Laodicea, e per tutti quelli che non videro ancora la mia faccia in carne,	1 For I would have you know, what manner of care I have for you and for them that are at Laodicea, and whosoever have not seen my face in the flesh:
2 perchè si possano consolare li cuori di coloro, ammaestrati nella carità e in tutte le ricchezze della plenitudine dell' intelletto, in conoscimento delle cose secrete di Dio padre, e del Figliuolo Iesù Cristo,	2 That their hearts may be comforted, being instructed in charity, and unto all riches of fulness of understanding, unto the knowledge of the mystery of God the Father and of Christ Jesus:
3 nel quale (Iesù Cristo) sono tutti li tesauri della sapienza e scienza nascosti.	3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
4 E questo vi dico, perchè niuno non v'inganni con sottilità di parole.	4 Now this I say, that no man may deceive you by loftiness of words.
5 Chè se io non son (con voi) presente con il corpo, sì sono con voi con il spirito, godendo e vedendo il vostro ordine, e il firmamento della vostra fede, il qual è in Iesù Cristo.	5 For though I be absent in body, yet in spirit I am with you; rejoicing, and beholding your order, and the steadfastness of your faith which is in Christ.
6 Adunque si come riceveste Iesù Cristo nostro Signore, così andate	6 As therefore you have received Jesus Christ the Lord, walk ye in him;
7 in lui radicati, e sopra firmati nella fede, secondo che voi imprendeste, abbondando in quello con referimento di grazie.	7 Rooted and built up in him, and confirmed in the faith, as also you have learned, abounding in him in thanksgiving.
8 Guardate che altri non vi inganni per filosofia o per altra fallacia, secondo l' ammaestramento degli uomini, e secondo le lettere di questo mondo, e non secondo Cristo.	8 Beware lest any man cheat you by philosophy, and vain deceit; according to the tradition of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ:
9 Imperò che in lui abita ogni plenitudine di divinità corporalmente.	9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead corporeally;
10 E siete ripieni di lui, il quale è capo di ogni principato e di ogni signoria.	10 And you are filled in him, who is the head of all principality and power:
11 Nel qual voi siete circoncisi, di circoncisione che non è fatta con mano di uomo, nè con tagliamento di carne del corpo, ma con circoncisione di Cristo;	11 In whom also you are circumcised with circumcision not made by hand, in despoiling of the body of the flesh, but in the circumcision of Christ:
12 insieme sepolti con lui nel battesimo, per lo quale voi ancora siete resuscitati per fede di operazione di Dio, il quale suscitò [lui] da morte.	12 Buried with him in baptism, in whom also you are risen again by the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him up from the dead.
13 E voi, conciosia cosa che foste morti ne' peccati e nella pagania, (Dio padre) risuscitò voi con quello, perdonandovi tutte le vostre offensioni.	13 And you, when you were dead in your sins, and the uncircumcision of your flesh; he hath quickened together with him, forgiving you all offences:
14 Ed estinse la equitazione del decreto, quel ch' era contra di noi, e tolsela del mezzo, lasciando ficcare il suo Figliuolo in sulla croce.	14 Blotting out the handwriting of the decree that was against us, which was contrary to us. And he hath taken the same out of the way, fastening it to the cross:
15 E spogliando li principati e le potestati (dell' inferno), arditamente menò fuori in palese (quelli ch' erano incatenati), facendo vittoria di coloro in sè medesimo.	15 And despoiling the principalities and powers, he hath exposed them confidently in open shew, triumphing over them in himself.
16 Adunque niuno vi giudichi in mangiare o in bere, o in parte del dì di festa, o di calende o di sabbato (secondo la legge vecchia);	16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink, or in respect of a festival day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbaths,
17 le quali cose son ombra (e simiglianza) delle cose che debbono venire, cioè il corpo di Cristo.	17 Which are a shadow of things to come, but the body is of Christ.
18 Niuno v' inganni con bassamento di senno, e con religione delli angeli, li quali non videro ancora quelli che vi vogliono ingannare; anzi vanno in vano, essendo enfiati del senno carnale,	18 Let no man seduce you, willing in humility, and religion of angels, walking in the things which he hath not seen, in vain puffed up by the sense of his flesh,
19 e non tenendo quello capo, per lo qual si mantiene tutto il corpo, e per nodi e per giunture composto e ordinato (così) cresce in crescimento di Dio.	19 And not holding the head, from which the whole body, by joints and bands, being supplied with nourishment and compacted, groweth unto the increase of God.
20 Adunque se voi siete morti con Cristo dagli elementi di questo mondo, perchè discernete ancora, secondo che voi viveste al mondo (certi cibi secondo la legge)?	20 If then you be dead with Christ from the elements of this world, why do you yet decree as though living in the world?
21 Non le toccate, e non le saggiate, e non le manicate,	21 Touch not, taste not, handle not:
22 quelle cose le quali sono tutte a perdizione. per quello uso, secondo li comandamenti e secondo. la dottrina degli uomini,	22 Which all are unto destruction by the very use, according to the precepts and doctrines of men.
23 Li quali pare che abbiano cagione di saviezza con vana religione e con viltade, e vanno temperando il corpo, e non con alcuno onore, ma a saturità (del ventre vanno, e secondo l'amore) della carne.	23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in superstition and humility, and not sparing the body; not in any honour to the filling of the flesh.
