Salmi 138

1 Signore, tu m' hai provato e cognosciuto;	1 Unto the end. A Psalm of David. O Lord, you have examined me, and you have known me.
2 tu hai conosciuto la mia sessione e la resurrezione mia.	2 You have known my sitting down and my rising up again.
3 Dalla lunga hai inteso li pensieri miei; il mio sentiero e la particella mia hai cercato.	3 You have understood my thoughts from afar. My path and my fate, you have investigated.
4 E hai preveduto tutte le vie mie; per che non è parlare nella lingua mia.	4 And you have foreseen all my ways. For there is no word in my tongue.
5 Ecco, Signore, che tu hai cognosciuto le ultime e antique; tu m' hai formato, e sopra di me posto la mano tua	5 Behold, O Lord, you have known all things: the newest and the very old. You have formed me, and you have placed your hand over me.
6 A me fatta è mirabile la scienza tua; ell'è confortata, e non potrò contra quella.	6 Your knowledge has become a wonder to me. It has been reinforced, and I am not able to prevail against it.
7 Dal spirito tuo dove andarò? e dove fuggirò dalla faccia tua?	7 Where will I go from your Spirit? And where will I flee from your face?
8 Se salirò nel cielo, tu sei ivi; se descenderò all' inferno, sarai presente.	8 If I ascend into heaven, you are there. If I descend into Hell, you are near.
9 Se per tempo torrò le penne mie, e abitarò nelli ultimi luoghi del mare;	9 If I assume my feathers in early morning, and dwell in the utmost parts of the sea,
10 e certo la mano tua ivi mi menarà; e la tua destra mi tenerà.	10 even there, your hand will lead me forth, and your right hand will hold me.
11 E dissi forse che le tenebre mi conculcaranno; e la notte sarà mia illuminazione in le delicie mie.	11 And I said: Perhaps darkness will overwhelm me, and the night will be my illumination, to my delight.
12 Per che le tenebre non [si] oscuriranno da te, e la notte illuminarassi come giorno; come sono le tenebre sue, così è il lume suo.	12 But darkness will not be impenetrable to you, and night will illuminate like the day: for just as its darkness is, so also is its light.
13 Per che possedesti le reni mie; ricevestimi dal ventre della madre mia.	13 For you have possessed my temperament. You have supported me from the womb of my mother.
14 A te confessarò, per che terribilmente magnificato sei; e l' anima mia molto cognosce le mirabili opere tue.	14 I will confess to you, for you have been magnified terribly. Your works are miraculous, as my soul knows exceedingly well.
15 Da te non è nascosto l'osso mio, che 'l facesti in secreto; è nelli inferiori della terra la sostanza mia.	15 My bone, which you have made in secret, has not been hidden from you, and my substance is in accord with the lower parts of the earth.
16 Gli occhi tuoi videro il mio imperfetto; e nel libro tuo tutti saranno scritti; formaransi li giorni, e nullo in essi.	16 Your eyes saw my imperfection, and all this shall be written in your book. Days will be formed, and no one shall be in them.
17 Da me molto sono onorificati, Iddio, li amici tuoi; molto è confortato loro principato.	17 But to me, O God, your friends have been greatly honored. Their first ruler has been exceedingly strengthened.
18 Annumerarolli, e moltiplicaranno sopra l'arena; sommi resuscitato, e ancora son teco.	18 I will number them, and they will be more numerous than the sand. I rose up, and I am still with you.
19 Se tu, Iddio, arai ucciso li peccatori; uomini omicidiali, partitevi da me.	19 O God, if only you would cut down sinners. You men of blood: depart from me.
20 Per che voi dite nel pensiero: torranno nella vanità loro città.	20 For you say in thought: They will accept your cities in vain.
21 Signore, non avea in odio coloro che ti odiavano, e dolevami sopra li nemici tuoi?	21 Have I not hated those who hated you, Lord, and wasted away because of your enemies?
22 Con perfetto odio aveali odiati; e a me sono fatti nemici.	22 I have hated them with a perfect hatred, and they have become enemies to me.
23 Provami, Signore, e saprai il cuore mio; addimanda me, e cognosci le mie vestigie.	23 Examine me, O God, and know my heart. Question me, and know my paths.
24 E vedi, se in me egli è la via della iniquità; e menami nella via eterna.	24 And see if there might be in me the way of iniquity, and lead me in the way of eternity.
