1 Ed Abraam in verità meno un'altra moglie; lo nome suo fue Cetura.	1 Abraham married another wife whose name was Keturah;
2 La quale partorì a lui Zamra e leesan e [Madan e] Madian e Jesboc e Sue.	2 and she bore him Zimram, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah.
3 In verità, che Jeesan generò Saba e Dadan. Figliuoli di Dadan furono Assurim (di cui Somma fu primieramente nomata; e poi degli altri discendenti di costoro fu detto di prima Affrica e Barbaria, però che abitarono da prima le terre ed i paesi) e Latusim e Laomin.	3 Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan, and the descendants of Dedan were the Asshurites, theLetushim and the Leummim.
4 E in verità di Madian nato è Efa ed Ofer ed Enoc ed Abida ed Eldaa; tutti questi figliuoli di Cetura (n' uscì grande lignaggio).	4 The descendants of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida and Eldaah. Al these were sons ofKeturah.
5 E diede Abraam ogni cosa che possedeva a Isaac.	5 Abraham left al his possessions to Isaac.
6 Ma ai figliuoli delle concubine diede guider done; e partilli da Isaac suo figliuolo, insino a tanto che egli ancora vivesse, dalla parte orientale.	6 To the sons of his concubines Abraham made grants during his lifetime, sending them away from hisson Isaac eastward, to the Land of the East.
7 E furono in verità li dì della vita d'Abraam cLxxv anni.	7 The number of years Abraham lived was a hundred and seventy-five.
8 E vegnente a meno, morto è in vecchiezza buona, di grandissima etade e pieno di dì; e raunato è il popolo suo.	8 When Abraham had breathed his last, dying at a happy ripe age, old and ful of years, he wasgathered to his people.
9 E seppellirono lui Isaac ed Ismael suoi figliuoli nella spelonca doppia, la quale è nel campo d'Efron, figliuolo di Seor Eteo, della regione di Mambre.	9 His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah facing Mamre, in the field of Ephronthe Hittite son of Zohar.
10 La quale egli avea comperata da' figliuoli di Et. Quivi seppellito è egli e Sara sua moglie.	10 This was the field that Abraham had bought from the Hittites, and Abraham and his wife Sarah wereburied there.
11 E dopo la morte sua benedisse Iddio Isaac suo figliuolo, il quale abitava appresso lo pozzo ch' avea nome DEL VIVENTE E DEL VEDENTE.	11 After Abraham's death, God blessed his son Isaac. Isaac settled near the wel of Lahai Roi.
12 Queste sono le generazioni d'Ismael figliuolo d'Abraam, il quale parturì a lui Agar egiziaca, serva di Sara.	12 These are the descendants of Ishmael son of Abraham by Hagar, Sarah's Egyptian slave-girl.
13 E questi sono i nomi de' figliuoli suoi, in li nomi e in le generazioni sue: il primogenito d'Ismael Nabaiot, e quindi Cedar e Adbeel e Mabsam,	13 These are the names of the sons of Ishmael by name and line: Ishmael's first-born was Nebaioth;then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,
14 e Masma e Duma, Massa,	14 Mishma, Dumah, Massa,
15 Adar e Tema, Ietur e Nafis e Cedma.	15 Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah.
16 Questi sono i figliuoli d'Ismael, e quest'i nomi per li castelli e magioni loro; XII principi delle schiatte loro.	16 These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, according to their settlements andencampments, twelve chiefs of as many tribes.
17 Li anni della vita d'Ismael sono CXXXVII; e vegnendo a meno, morto è ed apposto al popolo suo.	17 The number of years Ishmael lived was one hundred and thirty-seven. When he breathed his lastand died, he was gathered to his people.
18 Ed abito da Evila insino a Sur, la quale riguarda lo Egitto entranti dentro li Assirii; innanzi a tutti i fratelli suoi morì.	18 He lived in the territory stretching from Havilah-by-Shur just outside Egypt on the way to Assyria, andhe held his own against all his kinsmen.
19 In verità queste sono le generazioni di Isaac, figliuolo d'Abraam: Abraam generò Isaac.	19 This is the story of Isaac son of Abraham. Abraham fathered Isaac.
20 Il quale, quando egli era di xL anni, menò Rebecca per moglie, figliuola di Batuel siro, di Me sopotamia, sorocchia di Laban.	20 Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah the daughter of Bethuel the Aramaean ofPaddan-Aram, and sister of Laban the Aramaean.
21 E pregò Isaac lo Signore per la moglie sua; imperciò ch' ella era sterile; il quale esaudi lui, e diede il concepimento a Rebecca.	21 Isaac prayed to Yahweh on behalf of his wife, for she was barren. Yahweh heard his prayer, and hiswife Rebekah conceived.
22 E azzuffavansi i fanciulli nel ventre suo; la quale disse: se così a me dovea introvenire, che fu l'uso di concipere? E andò, a ciò ch' ella addo mandasse consiglio da Dio.	22 But the children inside her struggled so much that she said, 'If this is the way of it, why go on living?'So she went to consult Yahweh,
23 Il quale rispondente disse: due genti nel ventre tuo sono, e due popoli del ventre tuo si di videranno; e l'uno popolo soverchierà l'altro po polo, e il maggiore al minore servirà.	23 and Yahweh said to her: There are two nations in your womb, your issue wil be two rival peoples.One nation wil have the mastery of the other, and the elder wil serve the younger.
24 Già lo tempo del partorire era venuto; amendue nel ventre suo trovati sono.	24 When the time came for her confinement, there were indeed twins in her womb.
25 E lo primo, che n'era venuto, era rosso e tutto peloso nel modo della pelle del becco; e chiamato è lo nome suo Esaù. Dopo questo l'altro vegnente la pianta del fratello tenea colla mano; e imperciò è chiamato lui Iacob.	25 The first to be born was red, altogether like a hairy cloak; so they named him Esau.
26 Di sessant'anni era Isaac, quando sono nati i figliuoli.	26 Then his brother was born, with his hand grasping Esau's heel; so they named him Jacob. Isaac wassixty years old at the time of their birth.
27 I quali nutricati, fatto è Esaù uomo pratico di cacciare, e lavoratore di terra; e Iacob era semplice, ed abitava ne'tabernacoli.	27 When the boys grew up Esau became a skil ed hunter, a man of the open country. Jacob on theother hand was a quiet man, staying at home among the tents.
28 Isaac amava Esaù, imperciò che delle cac ciagioni sue mangiava; Rebecca amava Iacob.	28 Isaac preferred Esau, for he had a taste for wild game; but Rebekah preferred Jacob.
29 E cosse a Iacob la vivanda da mangiare; al quale quando venne Esaù, lasso del campo,	29 Once, when Jacob was cooking a stew, Esau returned from the countryside exhausted.
30 disse: dàmmi di questa cosa cotta rufa, im perciò ch' io [dell' ] oppido lasso sono. Per la quale cagione chiamato è lo nome suo EDOM.	30 Esau said to Jacob, 'Give me a mouthful of that red stuff there; I am exhausted' -- hence the namegiven to him, Edom.
31 Al quale rispose Iacob: vendi a me le prime genite tue.	31 Jacob said, 'First, give me your birthright in exchange.'
32 Ed egli rispose: in verità io muoio; che mi faranno pro' le prime genite?	32 Esau said, 'Here I am, at death's door; what use is a birthright to me?'
33 E disse Iacob: giura adunque a me. Giurò Esaù, e vendè le prime genite.	33 Then Jacob said, 'First give me your oath'; he gave him his oath and sold his birthright to Jacob.
34 E così tolto lo pane e le lenti e lo compa natico, egli mangiò e bevve e partissi, poco curando delle prime genite sue, che avea vendute.	34 Then Jacob gave him some bread and lentil stew; he ate, drank, got up and went away. That was allEsau cared about his birthright.
