1 And again, the sons of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord. And he delivered them into the hands of the Philistines for forty years.	1 Gdy znów zaczęli Izraelici czynić to, co złe w oczach Pana, wydał ich Pan w ręce Filistynów na czterdzieści lat.
2 Now there was a certain man from Zorah, and of the stock of Dan, whose name was Manoah, having a barren wife.	2 W Sorea, w pokoleniu Dana, żył pewien mąż imieniem Manoach. Żona jego była niepłodna i nie rodziła.
3 And an Angel of the Lord appeared to her, and he said: “You are barren and without children. But you shall conceive and bear a son.	3 Anioł Pana ukazał się owej kobiecie mówiąc jej: Otoś teraz niepłodna i nie rodziłaś, ale poczniesz i porodzisz syna.
4 Therefore, take care that you do not drink wine or strong drink. Neither shall you eat anything unclean.	4 Lecz odtąd strzeż się: nie pij wina ani sycery i nie jedz nic nieczystego.
5 For you shall conceive and bear a son, whose head no razor shall touch. For he shall be a Nazirite of God, from his infancy and from his mother’s womb. And he shall begin to free Israel from the hand of the Philistines.”	5 Oto poczniesz i porodzisz syna, a brzytwa nie dotknie jego głowy, gdyż chłopiec ten będzie Bożym nazirejczykiem od chwili urodzenia. On to zacznie wybawiać Izraela z rąk filistyńskich.
6 And when she had gone to her husband, she said to him: “A man of God came to me, having the countenance of an Angel, exceedingly terrible. And when I had inquired of him, who he was, and where he was from, and what name he was called, he was not willing to tell me.	6 Poszła więc kobieta do swego męża i tak rzekła do niego: Przyszedł do mnie mąż Boży, którego oblicze było jakby obliczem Anioła Bożego - pełne dostojeństwa.
7 But he responded: ‘Behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. Take care that you do not drink wine or strong drink. And you shall not consume anything unclean. For the boy shall be a Nazirite of God from his infancy, from his mother’s womb, even until the day of his death.’ ”	7 Rzekł do mnie: Oto poczniesz i porodzisz syna, lecz odtąd nie pij wina ani sycery, ani nie jedz nic nieczystego, bo chłopiec ten będzie Bożym nazirejczykiem od chwili urodzenia aż do swojej śmierci.
8 And so Manoah prayed to the Lord, and he said, “I beg you Lord, that the man of God, whom you sent, may come again, and may teach us what we ought to do about the boy who is to be born.”	8 Wówczas modlił się Manoach do Pana mówiąc: Proszę cię, Panie, niech mąż Boży, którego posłałeś, przyjdzie raz jeszcze do nas i niech nas nauczy, co mamy czynić z chłopcem, który się narodzi!
9 And the Lord heeded the prayer of Manoah, and the Angel of the Lord appeared again to his wife, sitting in a field. But her husband Manoah was not with her. And when she had seen the Angel,	9 A Bóg wysłuchał głosu Manoacha: Anioł Boży przyszedł jeszcze raz do tej kobiety, kiedy siedziała na polu. Męża jej Manoacha nie było przy niej.
10 she hurried and ran to her husband. And she reported to him, saying, “Behold, the man appeared to me, whom I had seen before.”	10 Pobiegła więc kobieta skwapliwie do swego męża z wiadomością: Oto ukazał mi się ten mąż, który owego dnia przybył do mnie.
11 And he rose up and followed his wife. And going to the man, he said to him, “Are you the one who spoke to my wife?” And he responded, “I am.”	11 Manoach wstał, poszedł za swoją żoną i przyszedł do owego męża, zwracając się do niego słowami: Czy to ty jesteś owym mężem, który rozmawiał z moją żoną? - Odpowiedział: Ja.
12 And Manoah said to him: “When will your word be fulfilled. What do you want the boy to do? Or from what should he keep himself?”	12 Rzekł więc Manoach: A gdy się spełni twoje słowo, jakie zasady i jakie obyczaje winien mieć chłopiec?
13 And the Angel of the Lord said to Manoah: “Concerning all the things about which I have spoken to your wife, she herself should abstain.	13 Rzekł Anioł Pana do Manoacha: Niech się twoja żona wystrzega tego wszystkiego, co jej powiedziałem.
14 And let her eat nothing from the vine. She may not drink wine or strong drink. She may consume nothing unclean. And let her observe and keep what I have instructed to her.”	14 Niech (syn) nie używa nic z tego, co pochodzi z winorośli, niech nie pije wina ani sycery, ani też niech nie spożywa nic nieczystego, lecz niech zachowuje to, co jej poleciłem.
15 And Manoah said to the Angel of the Lord, “I beg you to agree to my petition, and to let us prepare a kid from the goats.”	15 Rzekł jeszcze Manoach do Anioła Pana: Pozwól, że cię zatrzymamy i przygotujemy ci koźlątko.
16 And the Angel answered him: “Even if you compel me, I will not eat from your bread. But if you are willing to offer a holocaust, offer it to the Lord.” And Manoah did not know that he was an Angel of the Lord.	16 (6b) Nie wiedział bowiem Manoach, że to był Anioł Pana. (6a) Jednakże Anioł Pana rzekł do Manoacha: Nawet gdybyś mnie zatrzymał, nie będę spożywał twojego chleba. Natomiast jeśli chcesz przygotować całopalenie, złóż je dla Pana.
17 And he said to him, “What is your name, so that, if your word is fulfilled, we may honor you?”	17 Wówczas rzekł Manoach do Anioła Pana: Jakie jest imię twoje, abyśmy, gdy spełni się słowo twoje, mogli cię uczcić.
18 And he answered him, “Why do you ask my name, which is a wonder?”	18 Odpowiedział mu Anioł: Dlaczego pytasz się o moje imię: ono jest tajemnicze.
19 And so, Manoah took a kid from the goats, and libations, and he placed them upon a rock, as an offering to the Lord, who accomplishes wonders. Then he and his wife watched.	19 Następnie Manoach przyniósł koźlę oraz ofiarę pokarmową i na skale ofiarował je Panu, który działa tajemniczo. A Manoach i jego żona patrzyli.
20 And when the flame of the altar ascended to heaven, the Angel of the Lord ascended in the flame. And when Manoah and his wife had seen this, they fell prone on the ground.	20 Gdy płomień unosił się z ołtarza ku niebu, Anioł Pan wstąpił w płomień ołtarza, a Manoach i jego żona widząc to padli twarzą na ziemię.
21 And the Angel of the Lord no longer appeared to them. And immediately, Manoah understood him to be an Angel of the Lord.	21 Odtąd nie ukazał się już więcej Anioł Pana Manoachowi i jego żonie. Wówczas poznał Manoach, że to był Anioł Pana.
22 And he said to his wife, “We shall certainly die, since we have seen God.”	22 Potem rzekł Manoach do żony: Z całą pewnością pomrzemy, bowiem ujrzeliśmy Boga.
23 And his wife answered him, “If the Lord wished to kill us, he would not have accepted the holocaust and the libations from our hands. He would not have revealed all these things to us, nor would he have told us the things that are in the future.”	23 Żona mu odpowiedziała: Gdyby Pan miał zamiar pozbawić nas życia, nie przyjąłby z rąk naszych całopalenia i ofiary pokarmowej ani też nie okazałby nam tego wszystkiego, ani też nie objawiłby nam teraz takich rzeczy.
24 And so she bore a son, and she called his name Samson. And the boy grew up, and the Lord blessed him.	24 Porodziła więc owa kobieta syna i nazwała go imieniem Samson. Chłopiec rósł, a Pan mu błogosławił.
25 And the Spirit of the Lord began to be with him in the camp of Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.	25 Duch Pana zaś począł na niego oddziaływać w Obozie Dana między Sorea a Esztaol.
