1 After this David attacked the Philistines and conquered them, wresting. . . from the Philistines.	1 Po tych wydarzeniach Dawid pobił Filistynów i zmusił ich do uległości. Odebrał też z rąk Filistynów Gat.
2 He also defeated Moab and then measured them with a line, making them lie down on the ground. He told off two lengths of line for execution, and a full length to be spared. Thus the Moabites became tributary to David.	2 Potem pobił Moabitów i zmierzył ich sznurem, rozkazawszy im położyć się na ziemi. Wymierzył dwa sznury tych, co mieli być zabici, a długość jednego sznura dla tych, którzy mieli pozostać przy życiu. Tak Moabici stali się niewolnikami Dawida płacącymi daninę.
3 Next David defeated Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah, when he went to reestablish his dominion at the Euphrates River.	3 Dawid pobił też Hadazera, syna Rechoba, króla Soby, kiedy ten wyprawił się, aby przywrócić swą władzę nad Rzeką.
4 David captured from him one thousand seven hundred horsemen and twenty thousand foot soldiers. And he hamstrung all the chariot horses, preserving only enough for a hundred chariots.	4 Wziął mu też Dawid tysiąc siedemset konnicy i dwadzieścia tysięcy piechoty. Poprzecinał ścięgna skokowe wszystkich koni zaprzęgowych, zostawiając z nich tylko sto zaprzęgów.
5 When the Arameans of Damascus came to the aid of Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David slew twenty-two thousand of them.	5 Kiedy Aramejczycy z Damaszku przybyli na odsiecz królowi Soby, Hadadezerowi, Dawid pobił dwadzieścia dwa tysiące ludzi spośród Aramejczyków.
6 David then placed garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became subjects, tributary to David. The LORD brought David victory in all his undertakings.	6 Potem umieścił Dawid załogi w Aramie damasceńskim, Aramejczycy zaś stali się niewolnikami Dawida, płacącymi daninę. Tak Pan udzielał Dawidowi pomocy we wszystkim, co ten zamierzył.
7 David also took away the golden shields used by Hadadezer's servants and brought them to Jerusalem. (These Shishak, king of Egypt, took away when he came to Jerusalem in the days of Rehoboam, son of Solomon.)	7 Dawid zabrał też złote uzbrojenie, jakie mieli słudzy Hadadezera, i przeniósł je do Jerozolimy.
8 From Tebah and Berothai, towns of Hadadezer, King David removed a very large quantity of bronze.	8 A z miast Hadadezera, Tebach i Berotaj, zabrał król Dawid również wielką ilość brązu.
9 When Toi, king of Hamath, heard that David had defeated all the forces of Hadadezer,	9 Gdy usłyszał Tou, król Chamat, że Dawid rozbił całe wojsko Hadadezera,
10 he sent his son Hadoram to King David to greet him and to congratulate him for his victory over Hadadezer in battle, because Toi had been in many battles with Hadadezer. 12 from Edom and Moab, from the Ammonites, from the Philistines, from the Amalekites, and from the plunder of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.	12 z Edomu, Moabu, od Ammonitów, Filistynów, Amalekitów, wraz z łupami pochodzącymi od Hadadezera, syna Rechoba, króla Soby.
13 On his return, David became famous for having slain eighteen thousand Edomites in the Salt Valley;	13 Imię Dawida stało się sławne. Powracając zaś pobił osiemnaście tysięcy Edomitów w Dolinie Soli.
14 after which he placed garrisons in Edom. Thus all the Edomites became David's subjects, and the LORD brought David victory in all his undertakings.	14 I w Edomie pozostawił załogi. Wszyscy więc Edomici stali się niewolnikami Dawida: Pan udzielał Dawidowi pomocy we wszystkim, co ten zamierzył.
15 David reigned over all Israel, judging and administering justice to all his people.	15 Dawid panował nad całym Izraelem, wykonując sąd i sprawiedliwość nad całym swoim ludem.
16 Joab, son of Zeruiah, was in command of the army. Jehoshaphat, son of Ahilud, was chancellor.	16 Joab, syn Serui, był dowódcą wojska, Joszafat zaś, syn Achiluda, był pełnomocnikiem,
17 Zadok, son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech, son of Abiathar, were priests. Shawsha was scribe.	17 Sadok, syn Achituba, i Abiatar, syn Achimeleka, byli kapłanami, Serejasz zaś był pisarzem.
18 Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, was in command of the Cherethites and Pelethites. And David's sons were priests.	18 Benajasz, syn Jojady, sprawował dowództwo nad Keretytami i Peletytami, a synowie Dawida byli kapłanami.
