1 Paweł, apostoł Chrystusa Jezusa według nakazu Boga naszego, Zbawiciela, i Chrystusa Jezusa, naszej nadziei -	1 Paul, apostle of Christ Jesus appointed by the command of God our Saviour and of Christ Jesus ourhope,
2 do Tymoteusza, swego prawowitego dziecka w wierze. Łaska, miłosierdzie, pokój od Boga Ojca i Chrystusa Jezusa, naszego Pana!	2 to Timothy, true child of mine in the faith. Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from ChristJesus our Lord.
3 Jak prosiłem cię, byś pozostał w Efezie, kiedy wybierałem się do Macedonii, [tak proszę teraz], abyś nakazał niektórym zaprzestać głoszenia niewłaściwej nauki,	3 When I was setting out for Macedonia I urged you to stay on in Ephesus to instruct certain people not tospread wrong teaching
4 a także zajmowania się baśniami i genealogiami bez końca. Służą one raczej dalszym dociekaniom niż planowi Bożemu zgodnie z wiarą.	4 or to give attention to myths and unending genealogies; these things only foster doubts instead offurthering God's plan which is founded on faith.
5 Celem zaś nakazu jest miłość, płynąca z czystego serca, dobrego sumienia i wiary nieobłudnej.	5 The final goal at which this instruction aims is love, issuing from a pure heart, a clear conscience and asincere faith.
6 Zboczywszy od nich, niektórzy zwrócili się ku czczej gadaninie.	6 Some people have missed the way to these things and turned to empty speculation,
7 Chcieli uchodzić za uczonych w Prawie nie rozumiejąc ani tego, co mówią, ani tego, co stanowczo twierdzą.	7 trying to be teachers of the Law; but they understand neither the words they use nor the matters aboutwhich they make such strong assertions.
8 Wiemy zaś, że Prawo jest dobre, jeśli je ktoś prawnie stosuje,	8 We are wel aware that the Law is good, but only provided it is used legitimately,
9 rozumiejąc, że Prawo nie dla sprawiedliwego jest przeznaczone, ale dla postępujących bezprawnie i dla niesfornych, bezbożnych i grzeszników, dla niegodziwych i światowców, dla ojcobójców i matkobójców, dla zabójców,	9 on the understanding that laws are not framed for people who are upright. On the contrary, they are forcriminals and the insubordinate, for the irreligious and the wicked, for the sacrilegious and the godless; they arefor people who kil their fathers or mothers and for murderers,
10 dla rozpustników, dla mężczyzn współżyjących z sobą, dla handlarzy niewolnikami, kłamców, krzywoprzysięzców i [dla popełniających] cokolwiek innego, co jest sprzeczne ze zdrową nauką,	10 for the promiscuous, homosexuals, kidnappers, for liars and for perjurers -- and for everything else thatis contrary to the sound teaching
11 w duchu Ewangelii chwały błogosławionego Boga, którą mi zwierzono.	11 that accords with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God, the gospel that was entrusted to me.
12 Dzięki składam Temu, który mię przyoblekł mocą, Chrystusowi Jezusowi, naszemu Panu, że uznał mnie za godnego wiary, skoro przeznaczył do posługi mnie,	12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength. By cal ing me into his service he has judgedme trustworthy,
13 ongiś bluźniercę, prześladowcę i oszczercę. Dostąpiłem jednak miłosierdzia, ponieważ działałem z nieświadomością, w niewierze.	13 even though I used to be a blasphemer and a persecutor and contemptuous. Mercy, however, wasshown me, because while I lacked faith I acted in ignorance;
14 A nad miarę obfitą okazała się łaska naszego Pana wraz z wiarą i miłością, która jest w Chrystusie Jezusie.	14 but the grace of our Lord filled me with faith and with the love that is in Christ Jesus.
15 Nauka to zasługująca na wiarę i godna całkowitego uznania, że Chrystus Jezus przyszedł na świat zbawić grzeszników, spośród których ja jestem pierwszy.	15 Here is a saying that you can rely on and nobody should doubt: that Christ Jesus came into the worldto save sinners. I myself am the greatest of them;
16 Lecz dostąpiłem miłosierdzia po to, by we mnie pierwszym Jezus Chrystus pokazał całą wielkoduszność jako przykład dla tych, którzy w Niego wierzyć będą dla życia wiecznego.	16 and if mercy has been shown to me, it is because Jesus Christ meant to make me the leading exampleof his inexhaustible patience for al the other people who were later to trust in him for eternal life.
17 A Królowi wieków nieśmiertelnemu, niewidzialnemu, Bogu samemu - cześć i chwała na wieki wieków! Amen.	17 To the eternal King, the undying, invisible and only God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
18 Ten właśnie nakaz poruczam ci, Tymoteuszu, dziecko [moje], po myśli proroctw, które uprzednio wskazywały na ciebie: byś wsparty nimi toczył dobrą walkę,	18 Timothy, my son, these are the instructions that I am giving you, in accordance with the words oncespoken over you by the prophets, so that in their light you may fight like a good soldier
19 mając wiarę i dobre sumienie. Niektórzy odrzuciwszy je ulegli rozbiciu we wierze;	19 with faith and a good conscience for your weapons. Some people have put conscience aside andwrecked their faith in consequence.
20 do nich należy Hymenajos i Aleksander, których przekazałem szatanowi, ażeby się oduczyli bluźnić.	20 I mean men like Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan so that they may learnnot to be blasphemous.
