1 E andossene Sansone in Gaza, e videvi una femina peccatrice; e andando dentro, istette con lei.	1 He went also into Gaza, and saw there a woman a harlot, and went in unto her.
2 La quale cosa avendo udito i Filistei, e crescesse loro la voce (e il nome) cioè che fosse entrato Sansone nella cittade, sì lo attorniarono, ponendo le guardie nella porta della cittade, e quivi alla porta tutta notte aspettando ch' egli venisse, chetamente, acciò che fatta la mattina, vegnendo alla porta, sì l'uccidessono.	2 And when the Philistines had beard this, and it was noised about among them, that Samson was come into the city, they surrounded him, setting guards at the gate of the city, and watching there all the night in silence, that in the morning they might kill him as he went out.
3 Ma Sansone sì dormì insino a mezza notte; e poi levandosi suso, (e vegnendo alla porta) sì pigliò amendue le porte con gli sogliari (e con i gangheri) e con li chiavistelli; e postele in su le spalle, portolle suso in su la cima del monte che è verso Ebron.	3 But Samson slept till midnight, and then rising he took both the doors of the gate, with the posts thereof, and the bolt, and laying them on his shoulders, carried them up to the top of the hill, which looketh towards Hebron.
4 E dopo questo, sì amò una femina, la quale abitava nella valle di Sorec, e avea nome Dalila.	4 After this he loved a woman, who dwelt in the valley of Sorec, and she was called Dalila.
5 E vennero a Dalila tutti i principi de' Filistei, e sì le dissero: fa che tu inganni Sansone e sappi da lui onde hae tanta fortezza, e come noi il potessimo vincere, e legato affligerlo; la quale cosa se tu la farai, ciascuno di noi daremo a te mille e cento grossi d'argento.	5 And the princes of the Philistines came to her, and said: Deceive him, and learn of him wherein his great strength lieth, and how we may be able to overcome him, to bind and afflict him: which if thou shalt do, we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.
6 E favellò Dalila a Sansone, e disse: pregoti che tu mi dichi, dove e in che luogo stae questa tua grandissima fortezza, e che è quella cosa che, essendo tu legato con essa, tu non potresti rompere?	6 And Dalila said to Samson: Tell me, I beseech thee, wherein thy greatest strength lieth, and what it is wherewith if thou wert bound thou couldst not break loose.
7 Alla quale respuose Sansone: se io sarò legato con sette funi di nervo, che non siano ancora secche, ma siano umide, sarò infermo (e debile), come gli altri uomini.	7 And Samson answered her: If I shall be bound with seven cords made of sinews not yet dry, but still moist, I shall be weak like other men.
8 E recaronle li principi de' Filistei sette funi di nervo, sì come avea detto; con le quali funi (dormendo egli) sì lo legò Dalila,	8 And the princes of the Philistines brought unto her seven cords, such is he spoke of, with which she bound him;
9 istando in casa dentro nascosti gli agguati degli uomini, e dentro dalla camera aspettando la fine (e quello che di ciò intervenisse). E, legato che l'ebbe, Dalila sì gridò (e disse): Sansone, Sansone, i Filistei ti sono adosso. Il quale (desedandosi) sì rompette questi legami, sì come romperebbe uno altro uomo uno filo di stoppa torto con lo sputo, quando sente la fiamma del fuoco (e il caldo); e non fu (saputo nè) conosciuto, in che istesse la sua grandissima fortezza.	9 Men lying privately in wait with her, and in the chamber expecting the event of the thing, and she cried out to him: The Philistines are upon thee, Samson. And he broke the bands, as a man would break a thread of tow twined with spittle, when it smelleth the fire: so it was not known wherein his strength Jay.
10 E disse Dalila un' altra volta a Sansone: ecco, tu mi hai dileggiata, e non mi hai detto il vero; almeno di' ora a me, che è quella cosa la quale, essendo tu legato con essa, tu non potresti rompere.	10 And Dalila said to him: Behold thou hast mocked me, and hast told me a false thing: but now at least tell me wherewith thou mayest be bound.
11 Alla quale (disse e) respuose Sansone: se io sarò legato con nuove funi, le quali mai non fosseno state adoperate, io sarò infermo (e debile) e somigliante agli altri uomini.	11 And he answered her: If I shall be bound with new ropes, that were never in work, I shall be weak and like other men.
12 Con le quali funi sì lo legò un' altra volta Dalila. E legato che l' ebbe, sì gridò, essendo gli agguati degli uomini dietro al letto (cioè di quella cosa ov' era Sansone), e dicendo Dalila: Sansone, Sansone, ecco i Filistei ti sono adosso. Il quale (distendendosi) sì ruppe tutti questi legami, siccome ei fossero fili di tela.	12 Dalila bound him again with these, and cried out: The Philistines are upon thee, Samson, there being an ambush prepared for him in the chamber. But he broke the bands like threads of webs.
13 E disse Dalila un' altra volta a Sansone: perchè pure m' inganni insino a qui, e sempre mai mi di' (bugia e) falso? Mostrami (pregoti) con che tu dèi essere legato. E disse Sansone: sette crini del [mio] capo legherai forte con uno legame di panno e uno grosso aguto (e sarò con esso forte legato intorno intorno), e poi sì conficcherai in terra; e sarò infermo (e debole come gli altri uomini).	13 And Dalila said to him again: How long dost thou deceive me, and tell me lies? Shew me wherewith thou mayest be bound. And Samson answered her: If thou plattest the seven locks of my head with a lace, and tying them round about a nail fastenest it in the ground, I shall be weak.
14 La quale cosà avendo fatta Dalila, sì disse: o Sansone, Sansone, i Filistei ti sono adosso. Il quale, levandosi suso dal sonno, sì trasse fuori l' aguto insieme co' capelli e con lo legame del panno.	14 And when Dalila had done this, she said to him: The Philistines are upon thee, Samson. And awaking out of his sleep he drew out the nail with the hairs and the lace.
15 E dissegli Dalila: come di' tu che m' ami, conciosia cosa che l'animo tuo non sia con meco? (cioè che non ti fidi tu di me) Bene tre volte m'hai mentito, e non m' hai voluto dire in che (istà o) sia la tua grandissima fortezza.	15 And Dalila said to him: How dost thou say thou lovest me, when thy mind is not with me? Thou hast told me lies these three times, and wouldst not tell me wherein thy great strength lieth.
16 Molestandolo molto spesso, e per ispazio di molti di continuamente dicendogli questo, e non lasciandolo istare punto (nè in pace nè) in riposo, vennegli meno l'anima, e fu affaticata quasi insino alla morte.	16 And when she pressed him much, and continually hung upon him for many days, giving him no time to rest, his soul fainted away, and was wearied even until death.
17 E allora discoprendole (e dicendole) la verità del fatto, sì le disse: sappi che ferro non fu posto giammai in su il capo mio, imperò ch' io sono Nazareo, cioè sacrato a Dio, insino ch' io uscìo del ventre della madre mia: (onde sappi che) se il capo mio sarà raso, si partirà da me la mia fortezza, e verrò meno, e sarò come gli altri nomini.	17 Then opening the truth of the thing, he said to her: The razor hath never come upon my head, for I am a Nazarite, that is to say, consecrated to God from my mother's womb: if my head be shaven, my strength shall depart from me, and I shall become weak, and shall be like other men.
18 E veggendo Dalila che Sansone le avea (detto e) confessato tutto l'animo suo (e la verità), mandò a' principi de' Filistei, e comandò loro: venite suso ancora un' altra volta, imperciò che ora Sansone si m' ha (detto la verità e) aperto il cuore suo. I quali si andarono suso, portando i denari ch' aveano promesso a Dalila.	18 Then seeing that be had discovered to her all his mind, she sent to the princes of the Philistines, saying: Come up this once more, for now he hath opened his heart to me. And they went up taking with them the money which they had promised.
19 E Dalila si 'I fece addormentare sopra (il grembo e) le ginocchia sue, e in sul petto riposare il suo capo (cioè di Sansone). E chiamò il barbiere, e sì gli rase sette crini (de' capegli del capo suo), e cominciollo a mandarlo via, e cacciollo da sè; e incontanente si partì da sè la sua fortezza (cioè lo Spirito santo).	19 But she made him sleep upon her knees, and lay his head in her bosom. And she called a barber, and shaved his seven locks, and began to drive him away, and thrust him from her: for immediately his strength departed from him.
20 E disse (Dalila a Sansone): Sansone, i Filistei ti sono adosso. Il quale levandosi suso, disse nell' animo suo io uscirò fuori come ho fatto l'altre volte, e sì mi difenderò, non sapendo che Iddio si fosse partito da lui.	20 And she said: The Philistines are upon thee, Samson. And awaking from sleep, he said in his mind: I will go out as I did before, and shake myself, not knowing that the Lord was departed from him.
21 Il quale avendo preso i Filistei, incontanente sì gli cavarono gli occhii, e sì lo menarono in Gaza legato con le catene; e mettendolo in carcere, sì gli facevano (menare il molino e) macinare.	21 Then the Philistines seized upon him, and forthwith pulled out his eyes, and led him bound in chains to Gaza, and shutting him up in prison made him grind.
22 E dopo questo i capegli del capo suo avean già cominciato a crescere.	22 And now his hair began to grow again.
23 E tutti quanti i principi de' Filistei sì si raunarono insieme, acciò che facessono offerte magnifiche e sacrifizio a Dagon iddio loro, e mangiassero, dicendo: il dio nostro sì ha messo nelle nostre mani Sansone nostro nemico.	23 And the princes of the Philistines assembled together, to offer great sacrifices to Dagon their god, and to make merry, saying: Our god hath delivered our enemy Samson into our hands.
24 La quale cosa vedendo ancora il popolo, sì lodava il dio suo, e quelle parole medesime dicea, cioè il dio nostro signore sì ha dato (e messo) nelle nostre mani l'avversario nostro, il quale guastò la terra nostra, e molti uccise di noi.	24 And the people also seeing this, praised their god, and said the same: Our god hath delivered our adversary into our bands, him that destroyed our country and killed very many.
25 E rallegrandosi per conviti, e avendo già mangiato, comandarono (i principi) che fosse chiamato (e menato a loro) Sansone, che giuocasse lì dinanzi a loro; e fecero stare lui tra due colonne.	25 And rejoicing in their feasts, when they had now taken their good cheer, they commanded that Samson should be called, and should play before them. And being brought out of prison he played before them, and they made him stand between two pillars.
26 Il quale (cioè Sansone) sì disse al garzone che il menava: lasciami, e fa sì ch' io tocchi le colonne, alle quali tutte queste cose s' appoggiano, acciò ch' io mi possa uno poco appoggiare, e riposare sopra loro (appoggiandomi).	26 And he said to the lad that guided his steps: Suffer me to touch the pillars which support the whole house, and let me lean upon them, and rest a little.
27 E in quello punto sì era piena la casa di uomini e di femine, e sì v'erano tutti quanti i principi de' Filistei, e ancora in sul tetto e del solaio si aspettavano bene tre milia persone, tra maschii e femine, per vedere giuocare Sansone.	27 Now the house was full of men and women, and all the princes of the Philistines were there. Moreover about three thousand persons of both sexes from the roof and the higher part of the house, were beholding Samson's play.
28 E chiamato Iddio Signore, si disse Sansone: Signore Iddio, ricòrdati di me, e rendimi la mia fortezza di prima, Iddio mio, acciò ch' io mi vendichi de' miei nemici; e per due occhii, ch' io ho perduti, solamente mi dà una vendetta.	28 But he called upon the Lord, saying: O Lord God, remember me, and restore to me now my former strength, O my God, that I may revenge myself on my enemies, and for the loss of my two eyes I may take one revenge.
29 E Sansone pigliando amendue le colonne, alle quali s' appoggiava la casa, e tenendo l' una con la mano ritta, e l' altra con la mano manca	29 And laying hold on both the pillars on which the house rested, and holding the one with his right hand, and the other with his left,
30 sì disse: muoia l' anima mia insieme colli Filistei. E scorlando fortemente le colonne, cadde tutta la casa sopra tutti i principi e sopra tutta l'altra moltitudine che quivi era; e molto più ne uccise morendo, che non avea morti innanzi, vivo.	30 He said: Let me die with the Philistines. And when he had strongly shook the pillars, the house fell upon all the princes, and the rest of the multitude that was there: and he killed many more at his death, than he had killed before in his life.
31 E vegnendo giuso i fratelli suoi e tutto il suo parentado, tolsono il corpo suo, e sì lo sotterrarono tra Saraa ed Estaol nella spelonca di Manue suo padre. E giudicò (e resse) Israel venti anni.	31 And his brethren and all his kindred, going down took his body, and buried it between Saraa and Esthaol in the buryingplace of his father Manue: and he judged Israel twenty years.
