1 Adunque state fermi (nella fede), e non vi sottomettete più al giogo della servitù.	1 Christ set us free, so that we should remain free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be fastenedagain to the yoke of slavery.
2 Ecco, io Paulo dico a voi, che se voi vi circoncidete (e vorrete diventare iudei), che Cristo niuna cosa vi giovarà.	2 I, Paul, give you my word that if you accept circumcision, Christ wil be of no benefit to you at al .
3 E ancora rendo testimonianza ad ogni uomo che si circoncide, ch' egli è debito (e tenuto) di servare tutta la legge.	3 I give my assurance once again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is under obligation tokeep the whole Law;
4 Partiti siete da Cristo, voi che vi magnificate nella legge; e siete caduti della grazia.	4 once you seek to be reckoned as upright through the Law, then you have separated yourself fromChrist, you have fal en away from grace.
5 Ma noi aspettiamo la speranza della giustizia con spirito e con fede.	5 We are led by the Spirit to wait in the confident hope of saving justice through faith,
6 E questo sappiate, che in Iesù Cristo non vale niente nè circoncisione nè prepuzio; ma vale la fede la qual sì adopera in caritade.	6 since in Christ Jesus it is not being circumcised or being uncircumcised that can effect anything -- onlyfaith working through love.
7 Voi correvate bene; or chi vi ha impedito, che non obbediate a verità?	7 You began your race wel ; who came to obstruct you and stop you obeying the truth?
8 (Non consentite a niuno di coloro che vi confortano d' altra fede, e) questo confortamento (lo quale vi fanno) non è di Dio il quale chiamò voi.	8 It was certainly not any prompting from him who called you!
9 Un poco di levato corrompe tutta la massa (e così il mal frumento corrompe tutta la fede buona).	9 A pinch of yeast ferments the whole batch.
10 Ma io mi conforto in voi nel Signore, che voi non intenderete a fare nulla altra cosa, (se non quella del Signore); e quelli che vi conturba (porterà la sua pena e) averà la sua sentenza, qualunque è quello.	10 But I feel sure that, united in the Lord, you wil not be led astray, and that anyone who makes troublewith you will be condemned, no matter who he is.
11 Ed io, fratelli, se anche prèdico la circoncisione, perchè patisco persecuzione? Adunque è invanito il scandolo della croce.	11 And I, brothers -- if I were stil preaching circumcision, why should I still be persecuted? For then theobstacle which is the cross would have no point any more.
12 Voglia Dio, che siano partiti (e tagliati) quelli che vi conturbano.	12 I could wish that those who are unsettling you would go further and mutilate themselves.
13 Ma voi, fratelli, siete chiamati in franchezza. Adunque la vostra franchitate, non la date in cagione di carne; ma in carità del Spirito servitevi insieme.	13 After al , brothers, you were called to be free; do not use your freedom as an opening for self-indulgence, but be servants to one another in love,
14 Chè tutta la legge in una parola si compie: ama il prossimo tuo, come te medesimo.	14 since the whole of the Law is summarised in the one commandment: You must love your neighbour asyourself.
15 Ma se voi vi mordete insieme e vi manicate, guardate che non vi consumiate così l'uno l'altro.	15 If you go snapping at one another and tearing one another to pieces, take care: you will be eaten up byone another.
16 Dicovi che andiate per la via del Spirito; e così non compirete li desiderii della carne.	16 Instead, I tel you, be guided by the Spirit, and you wil no longer yield to self-indulgence.
17 La carne (desidera ed) ha concupiscenza contra lo spirito, e il spirito contro la carne; queste due cose insieme si contrastano (e hanno briga), perchè voi non facciate tutte quelle cose che voi volete.	17 The desires of self-indulgence are always in opposition to the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are inopposition to self-indulgence: they are opposites, one against the other; that is how you are prevented fromdoing the things that you want to.
18 E se voi siete menati dal spirito, non siete sotto la legge.	18 But when you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.
19 L'opere della carne son manifeste, le quali son queste, cioè: fornicazione, (adulterio), immondizia, impudicizia e lussuria,	19 When self-indulgence is at work the results are obvious: sexual vice, impurity, and sensuality,
20 e servitù d'idoli; li veneficii, (l'incantamenti), i mali emuli, le contenzioni e l'ire, le battaglie, le dissensioni, le sette (e compagnie),	20 the worship of false gods and sorcery; antagonisms and rivalry, jealousy, bad temper and quarrels,disagreements,
21 le invidie, li omicidii, le ebrietà, il troppo mangiare, e tutti gli altri peccati simiglianti a questi; li quali dico a voi inanzi, secondo altra volta vi dissi, che quelli che faranno queste tali cose, non avranno il regno di Dio.	21 factions and malice, drunkenness, orgies and al such things. And about these, I tel you now as I havetold you in the past, that people who behave in these ways wil not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 Il frutto del Spirito sì è: carità, gaudio, pazienza, la lunga sofferenza, la bontà, la benignità,	22 On the other hand the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness,
23 la mansuetudine, la fede, la temperanza, la continenza e la castità. E incontro a queste cose non è legge.	23 gentleness and self-control; no law can touch such things as these.
24 Ma quelli che son di Cristo, la carne loro hanno crucifissa con li vizii e con le concupiscenze (combattendo con esse).	24 All who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified self with al its passions and its desires.
25 Se viviamo per spirito, per spirito andiamo.	25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let our behaviour be guided by the Spirit
26 E non siano cupidi di vana gloria, provocando l'uno l'altro, e portando invidia l'uno all'altro.	26 and let us not be conceited or provocative and envious of one another.
