Amos 5

1 Udite questa parola, la quale io lievo sopra voi, cioè lo pianto: la casa d' Israel cadde, e non si rileverà.	1 Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel.
2 La vergine d' Israel è gittata nella sua terra, e non è chi la risvegli.	2 The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
3 Questo dice lo Signore Iddio: la città, d'onde ne uscivano mille, cento ve ne rimarrà; di quella donde n' uscivano cento, ve ne rimarranno X nella casa d' Israel.	3 For thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.
4 Però [che] questo dice lo Signore Iddio [alla casa] d'Israel: addomandate me, e viverete.	4 For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:
5 E non vogliate addomandare Betel, e non vogliate entrare in Galgala, e non entrerete in Bersabee; però che Galgala sarà menata in prigionia, e Betel sarà (menata) inutile; (questi tre nomi, cioè Betel, Galgala e Bersabee, sono nomi di terre).	5 But seek not Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nought.
6 Addomandate lo Signore, e vivete; acciò che forse non si accenda lo fuoco nella casa di Iosef, e divorerà Betel, e non sarà chi lo spenga.	6 Seek the LORD, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel.
7 I quali convertite in assenzio lo giudicio, e la giustizia (del Signore) lasciate in terra.	7 Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,
8 Colui che fa lo mese da seminare e da ricogliere, e che fae la nebbia convertire nella mattina, e muta lo dì nella notte; e chiama l' acque del mare, e spargele sopra la faccia della terra; lo suo nome è Signore;	8 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name:
9 il quale sorride (e fa beffe) del guastamento ch' è sopra lo robusto, e dà spopolamento (e disertamento conduce) sopra lo potente.	9 That strengtheneth the spoiled against the strong, so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress.
10 Ed ebbono in odio colui che li riprendeva nella porta, e abbominarono colui che parlava perfettamente.	10 They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.
11 E però che voi rubavate lo povero, e togliavate la preda eletta da lui, edificherete le case con quadrate pietre, e non abiterete; e pianteretevi le vigne dilettissime, e non berete lo loro vino.	11 Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.
12 Però ch' io ho conosciuto le molte vostre fellonie, e li vostri forti peccati; poi che siete nimici del giusto, e togliete lo dono, e battete lo povero nella porta.	12 For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.
13 E però lo savio tacerà in quello tempo; però che lo tempo è reo.	13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.
14 Addomandate lo bene, e non lo male, accid che voi viviate; e lo Signore delli esèrciti sarà con voi, sì come voi diceste.	14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.
15 Abbiate in odio lo male, e amate lo bene, e ordinate nella porta lo giudicio; se forse lo Signore delli esèrciti abbia misericordia dello rimanente di Iosef.	15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
16 E però questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti, lo Iddio signoreggiatore: in tutte le piazze si piange (lo pianto); e tutti quelli che sono di fuori si dirà: guai, guai, (guai a noi); e chiameranno lo lavoratore della terra a piagnere, e chiameranno al pianto coloro che sanno piagnere.	16 Therefore the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord, saith thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.
17 E lo pianto sarà in tutte le vigne; però ch' io passerò per lo mezzo, dice lo Signore.	17 And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through thee, saith the LORD.
18 Guai a coloro che desiderano lo dì del Signore; per che lo volete quello dì? a voi questo dì sarà di tenebre, e non di luce.	18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.
19 Come se l' uomo fugga dalla faccia del leone, e incontro li vegna l'orso; ed entri nella casa, e quando anderà su per la parete aggrappandosi con mano, lo serpente lo morda.	19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
20 Or dunque non è come ombra lo dì del Signore, e non luce; e oscuritade, non splendore, in quello?	20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
21 Io hoe avuto in odio, e hoe gittate via le vostre feste; e non piglieròe odore delle vostre compagnie.	21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.
22 E se voi offerrete a me l' offerte e li vostri doni, io non li riceverò, e non ragguarderò alli voti delle vostre cose grasse.	22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
23 Leva da me lo tumulto de' vostri versi; e non esaudirò lo canto dello vostro volto.	23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.
24 E lo giudicio si leverà come acqua, e la giustizia come uno forte fiumicello.	24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.
25 Or (non) mi offeriste voi l'ostie e lo sacrificio nel diserto XL anni, o (tu) casa d' Israel?	25 Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
26 E portaste li tabernacoli a Moloc vostro, e la imagine de' vostri idoli, la stella del vostro iddio, li quali voi faceste a voi.	26 But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.
27 E farovvi passare Damasco, dice colui il quale si chiama per nome lo Signore Iddio delli esèrciti.	27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the LORD, whose name is The God of hosts.
