Ezechiele 18

BIBBIA VOLGARE	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 E disse Iddio a me:	1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying: What is the meaning?
2 Che cosa è questa, che deducete questa parabola in questo proverbio nella terra d' Israel, dicendo: li padri manicarono le uve acerbe, e li denti de' figliuoli sono alligati?	2 That you use among you this parable as a proverb in the land of Israel, saying: The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the teeth of the children are set on edge.
3 Io vivo, dice lo Signore Iddio, se questa parabola sarà più a voi in proverbio in Israel.	3 As I live, saith the Lord God, this parable shall be no more to you a proverb in Israel.
4 Ecco, tutte sono mie le anime; e così è mia l'anima del figliuolo, come quella del padre; l'anima che peccherà, ella morrà.	4 Behold all souls are mine: as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, the same shall die.
5 E se l'uomo sarà stato giusto, e averà fatto giudicio e giustizia,	5 And if a man be just, and do judgment and justice,
6 e non averà mangiato ne' monti, e non averà alzato li occhi alli idoli della casa d' Israel; e non averà isforzato la moglie del suo prossimo, e a donna menstruata non sarà andato;	6 And hath not eaten upon the mountains, nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel: and hath not defiled his neighbour's wife, nor come near to a menstruous woman:
7 e non averà contristato niuno uomo; e averà renduto il pegno al suo debitore, e non averà tolta niuna cosa per forza; e averà dato del suo pane allo affamato, e averà ricoperto lo ignudo col suo vestimento;	7 And hath not wronged any man: but hath restored the pledge to the debtor, hath taken nothing away by violence: hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment:
8 e non averà prestato ad usura, e non averà tolto più; e averà levato la sua mano dalla malvagità, e averà fatto vero giudicio tra uomo e uomo;	8 Hath not lent upon usury, nor taken any increase: hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, and hath executed true judgment between man and man:
9 e sarà andato ne' miei comandamenti, e averà osservato li miei giudicii per fare la verità; questo è giusto, e averà vita, dice lo Signore onnipotente.	9 Hath walked in my commandments, and kept my judgments, to do truth: he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord God.
10 E se genererà figliuolo ladro, e spargente sangue, e averà fatto uno di questi;	10 And if he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that hath done some one of these things:
11 e [se] non averà fatto tutte queste cose, ma che manuchi ne' monti, e corrompa la moglie del prossimo suo;	11 Though he doth not all these things, but that eateth upon the mountains, and that defileth his neighbour's wife:
12 e che contristi lo povero e lo bisognoso, e che tolga con rapina, e non renda il pegno, e che lievi i suoi occhi alli idoli, e che faccia abominazione;	12 That grieveth the needy and the poor, that taketh away by violence, that restoreth not the pledge, and that lifteth up his eyes to idols, that committeth abomination:
13 e prestante ad usura, e che tolga più che non dà; or viverà costui? certo non viverà; ma morrà, conciosia cosa che abbia fatte tutte le cose interdette; lo suo sangue sarà sopra lui.	13 That giveth upon usury, and that taketh an increase: shall such a one live? he shall not live. Seeing he hath done all these detestable things, he shall surely die, his blood shall be upon him.
14 E se averà generato figliuolo, lo quale vedendo tutti li peccati del padre suo li quale egli averà fatti, e averà temuto e non averà fatto simile a quelli peccati;	14 But if he beget a son, who, seeing all his father's sine, which he hath done, is afraid, and shall not do the like to them :
15 e non averà mangiato sopra li monti, e non averà levati i suoi occhi alli idoli della casa d' Israel, e non averà isforzata la moglie del suo prossimo;	15 That hath not eaten upon the mountains, nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, and hath not defiled his neighbour's wife:
16 e non averà contristato l'uomo, e non averà ritenuto lo pegno, e non averà tolto con rapina, e averà dato del suo pane allo affamato, e averà ricoperto lo ignudo col vestimento suo;	16 And hath not grieved any man, nor withholden the pledge, nor taken away with violence, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and covered the naked with a garment:
17 e averà riguardata la sua mano dalla ingiuria del povero, e non averà tolto usura nè soperchio, e averà fatto (i miei comandamenti e) li miei giudicii, e sarà andato ne' miei comandamenti; questo non morrà nella iniquità del suo padre, ma viverà a vita.	17 That hath turned away his hand from injuring the poor, hath not taken usury and increase, but hath executed my judgments, and hath walked in my commandments: this man shall not die for the iniquity of his father, but living he shall live.
18 Ma per che lo padre suo ha fatto calunnia, e ha fatto forza al suo fratello, e hae adoperato male nel mezzo del suo popolo, ecco ch' egli è morto nella sua iniquità.	18 As for his father, because he oppressed and offered violence to his brother, and wrought evil in the midst of his people, behold he is dead in his own iniquity.
19 Voi dite: per che non porta il figliuolo la iniquità del padre? Però che lo figliuolo hae adoperato giudicio e giustizia, lui ha osservato tutti li miei comandamenti e feceli, e' viverà a vita.	19 And you say: Why hath not the son borne the iniquity of his father? Verily, because the son hath wrought judgment and justice, hath kept all my commandments, and done them, living, he shall live.
20 L'anima che peccherà, ella morrà; e lo figliuolo non porterà la iniquità del padre, e lo padre non porterà la iniquità del figliuolo; la giustizia del giusto sarà sopra lui, e la empietà dello empio sarà sopra lui.	20 The soul that sinneth, the same shall die: the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, and the father shall not bear the iniquity of the son: the justice of the just shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
21 E se lo malvagio averà fatto penitenza di tutti i suoi peccati, i quali lui averà fatti, e averà guardati tutti i miei comandamenti, e averà fatto giudicio e giustizia; viverà, e non morrà.	21 But if the wicked do penance for all his sins which he hath committed, and keep all my commandments, and do judgment, and justice, living he shall live, and shall not die.
22 Io non mi ricorderò di tutte le iniquitadi, le quali egli averà fatte; e viverà per la sua giustizia ch' egli averà fatta.	22 I will not remember all his iniquities that he hath done: in his justice which he hath wrought, he shall live.
23 Or saria di mia volontà la morte del malvagio, dice lo Signore Iddio, e che non si converta dalla sua malvagia via, e viva?	23 Is it my will that a sinner should die, saith the Lord God, and not that he should be converted from his ways, and live?
24 E se il giusto sarà rivolto dalla sua giustizia, e averà fatto le iniquitadi secondo che il malvagio suole adoperare, or viverà egli? (Quasi dica: no). Non si ricorderà di tutta la giustizia sua, la quale elli avea fatto; nella sua prevaricazione, nella quale egli è prevaricato, e nel suo peccato il quale egli hae commesso, in quello morrà.	24 But if the just man turn himself away from his justice, and do iniquity according to all the abominations which the wicked man useth to work, shall he live? all his justices which he hath done, shall not be remembered: in the prevarication, by which he hath prevaricated, and in his sin, which he hath committed, in them he shall die.
25 E diceste: la via di Dio non è diritta. Adunque odi, casa d' Israel: la mia via non è la diritta, e non sono le vostre vie peggiori?	25 And you have said: The way of the Lord is not right. Hear ye, therefore, O house of Israel: Is it my way that is not right, and are not rather your ways perverse?
26 E quando lo giusto si rivolgerà della sua giustizia, e averà fatto la iniquità, morrassi in quella; morrà nella [in]giustizia, la quale egli averà adoperata.	26 For when the just turneth himself away from his justice, and committeth iniquity, he shall die therein: in the injustice that he hath wrought he shall die.
27 E quando si rivolgerà lo malvagio dalla sua malvagità, la quale egli averà adoperato, e averà fatto giudicio e giustizia, egli vivificherà l'anima sua.	27 And when the wicked turneth himself away from his wickedness, which he hath wrought, and doeth judgment, and justice: he shall save his soul alive.
28 E considerando, e rivoltandosi da tutte le sue iniquitadi le quali hae adoperate, viverà a vita, e non morrà.	28 Because he considereth and turneth away himself from all his iniquities which he hath wrought, he shall surely live, and not die.
29 E li figliuoli d' Israel dicono: la via di Dio non è diritta. O casa d' Israel, or non sono diritte le mie vie, e le vostre vie non sono più tosto ree?	29 And the children of Israel say: The way of the Lord is not right. Are not my ways right, O house of Israel, and are not rather your ways perverse?
30 Però io giudicherò ciascuno della casa d' Israel secondo le sue vie, dice lo Signore Iddio. Convertitevi, e fate penitenza delle vostre iniquitadi; e la vostra iniquità non vi sarà in ruina; (cioè quando l'uomo si pente del peccato, e fanne penitenza, non hae paura dello inferno).	30 Therefore will I judge every man according to his ways, O house of Israel, saith the Lord God. Be converted, and do penance for all your iniquities: and iniquity shall not be your ruin.
31 Gittate da voi tutte le vostre prevaricazioni, nelle quali voi avete prevaricato, e fatevi nuovo cuore e nuovo spirito; e, o casa d' Israel, per che morrete? (Quasi dica: per che non vi convertite?).	31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, by which you have transgressed, and make to yourselves a new heart, and a new spirit: and why will you die, O house of Israel?
32 Però ch' io non voglio la morte del peccatore, (ma che si converta e viva), dice lo Signore Iddio; ritornate a me, e viverete.	32 For I desire not the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord God, return ye and live.
