Ieremia 39

1 Nell'anno nono di Sedecia re di Giuda, nel mese decimo, venne Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, e tutta la sua oste a Ierusalem, e assediavanla.	1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylonadvanced on Jerusalem with his entire army, and they laid siege to it.
2 Nello undecimo anno di Sedecia (re di Giuda), nel mese quarto, nel quinto di del mese, sì fu aperta la città.	2 In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, a breach was made in the city wall.
3 Ed entrarono tutti li principi dello re di Babilonia, e sederono nella porta mezza; e furono Neregel, Sereser, Semegarnabu, Sarsachim, Rabsares, Neregel, Sereser, Rebmag, e tutti li altri principi dello re di Babilonia.	3 The king of Babylon's officials, al having made their entry, took their seats in the Middle Gate: Nergal-Sharezer, Samgar-Nebo, Sar-Sechim a high dignitary of state, Nergal-Sharezer the chief astrologer, and al theking of Babylon's other officials . . .
4 E quando li vidde Sedecia re di Giuda, e tutti li uomini della battaglia, fuggirono; e uscirono la notte della città per la via dell' orto dello re, e per la porta la quale era tra le due mura, e uscirono alla via dello deserto.	4 On seeing them, Zedekiah king of Judah and al the fighting men fled, leaving the city under cover ofdark, by way of the king's garden through the gate between the two walls, and made their way towards theArabah.
5 Ma l'oste de' Caldei li perseguitò; e presono Sedecia nel campo della solitudine Iericontina, e il menarono preso a Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia in (una terra che si chiama) Reblata, la quale è nella terra di Emat: e parlò a lui giudicii.	5 But the Chaldaean troops pursued them and caught up with Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. Theycaptured him and took him to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon at Riblah in the territory of Hamath, where hepassed sentence on him.
6 E lo re di Babilonia uccise li figliuoli di Sedecia in Reblata, innanzi alli suoi occhi; e anche necise tutti li nobili uomini di Giuda lo re di Babilonia.	6 The king of Babylon had Zedekiah's sons slaughtered before his eyes at Riblah; the king of Babylonalso had al the leading men of Judah put to death.
7 Eli occhi di Sedecia accecò; e legollo nelli legami, acciò che fosse menato in Babilonia.	7 He then put out Zedekiah's eyes and, loading him with chains, carried him off to Babylon.
8 E li Caldei arsono la casa del re e la casa del popolo, e rivolsono lo muro di Ierusalem.	8 The Chaldaeans burnt down the royal palace and the private houses, and demolished the wal s ofJerusalem.
9 E le reliquie del popolo, che rimasono nella città, e li fuggitivi che fuggivano a lui, transportò Nabuzardan, maestro de' cavalieri, in Babilonia.	9 Nebuzaradan commander of the guard deported the remainder of the population left behind in the city,the deserters who had gone over to him, and the rest of the artisans to Babylon.
10 E della plebe [quelli] ch' erano restati poverissimi rimasero a Nabuzardan, maestro de' cavalieri, nella terra di Giuda; e diede loro vigne e cisterne in quello dì.	10 But Nebuzaradan commander of the guard left some of the poor people behind in the country ofJudah, those who had nothing, at the same time giving them vineyards and fields.
11 E comandò Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, di Ieremia a Nabuzardan, maestro della milizia, dicendo:	11 With regard to Jeremiah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had given the fol owing orders toNebuzaradan, commander of the guard,
12 Tolli colui, e poni sopra lui li tuoi occhi, e non li fare punto di male; ma, come vuole, così farai a lui.	12 'Take him, look after him; do him no harm, but treat him as he may ask you.'
13 E mandò Nabuzardan, principe della milizia, e Nabusezban e Rabsares e Neregel e Sereser e Rebmag, e tutti li officiali dello re di Babilonia,	13 He entrusted this mission to (Nebuzaradan commander of the guard,) Nebushazban the high dignitaryof state, Nergal-Sharezer the chief astrologer and al the king of Babylon's other officials.
14 mandorono, e tolsono Ieremia dell' ingresso della carcere, e diederlo a Godolia, figliuolo di Aicam, figliuolo di Satan, acciò ch' egli entrasse nella casa, e abitasse nel populo.	14 These despatched men to take Jeremiah from the Court of the Guard and turned him over toGedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan for safe conduct home. So he remained among the people.
15 E [a Ieremia] era fatta la parola di Dio, quando era chiuso nell' ingresso della carcere, dicendo:	15 While Jeremiah was confined in the Court of the Guard, the word of Yahweh came to him as follows,
16 Va, e di' ad Abdemelec di Etiopia, dicendo: questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti, Iddio d'Israel: ecco io adducerò le mie parole sopra questa città in male, e non in bene; e saranno nel tuo cospetto in quello dì.	16 'Go and say to Ebed-Melech the Cushite, "Yahweh, God of Israel says this: Look, I am about toperform my words about this city for its ruin and not for its prosperity. That day they will come true before youreyes.
17 E libererò te in quello dì, dice Iddio, e non sarai dato in mano delli uomini i quali tu temi.	17 But I shal rescue you that day, Yahweh declares, and you will not be handed over to the hands of themen you fear.
18 Ma liberandoti ti libererò, e non cadrai per coltello; ma sarà a te l'anima tua in salute, però che avesti in me fiducia, dice Iddio.	18 Yes, I shal certainly rescue you: you wil not fall to the sword; you wil escape with your life, becauseyou have put your trust in me, Yahweh declares."
