Isaia 41

BIBBIA VOLGARE	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Tenghino silenzio a me le isole, e le genti mutino la loro fortezza; (vengano e) accostinsi a me, e allora parlino; e approssimiamci insieme al giudicio.	1 Let the islands keep silence before me, and the nations take new strength: let them come near, and then speak, let us come near to judgment together.
2 Chi risuscitò lo giusto dalla parte dell' oriente, lo chiamò che lo seguitasse? Egli darà nello suo cospetto le geuti, e otterrà (a sè) li re; e darà quasi come polvere nel suo coltello, e come uno filo di legne, che lo porta il vento, a lo suo arco.	2 Who hath raised up the just one from the east, hath called him to follow him? he shall give the nations in his sight, and he shall rule over kings: he shall give them as the dust to his sword, as stubble driven by the wind, to his bow.
3 Perseguiterà loro, e passerà pacificamente; e non si vedrà orma a' suoi piedi.	3 He shall pursue them, he shall pass in peace, no path shall appear after his feet.
4 Chi [si] mise a questa opera, e fecela? Chi chiamò le generazioni dal cominciamento ( ch' elle furono)? io sono lo primo Iddio, e l'ultimo.	4 Who hath wrought and done these things, calling the generations from the beginning? I the Lord, I am the first and the last.
5 E le isole (me) viddono, e temerono; e le estremità della terra maravigliaronsi; accostaronsi,	5 The islands saw it, and feared, the ends of the earth were astonished, they drew near, and came.
6 Ciascuno darà aiuto al suo prossimo, è dirà al suo fratello: prendi conforto.	6 Every one shall help his neighbour, and shall say to his brother: Be of good courage.
7 E lo fabbro conforterà lui (cioè quello iddio) percuotendolo (cioè facendolo) col martello, il quale a quel tempo quando si scolpisce (si faceano e batteano in su la incudine) diceva: buono è a fare l'idolo; e con li chiovi lo confortò (cioè che lo firmò) per che non si movesse.	7 The coppersmith striking with the hammer encouraged him that forged at that time, saying: It is ready for soldering: and he strengthened it with nails, that it should not be moved.
8 E tu, Israel servo mio, Iacob lo quale io hoe eletto a me, [tu] che fosti seme di Abraam mio amico,	8 But thou Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend:
9 nel quale io pigliai te delle estremità della terra, e chiamai te delle sue lontane parti, e dissi a te: tu sei mio servo, e io hoe eletto te (a me), e non t'ho scacciato (nè rimosso).	9 In whom I have taken thee from the ends of the earth, and from the remote parts thereof have called thee, and said to thee: Thou art my servant, I have chosen thee, and have not cast thee away.
10 Non temere, però ch' io sono teco; non ti spaventare, però ch' io sono il tuo Iddio; io hoe confortato te, e dato aiuto a te, e la mano diritta del mio giusto ricevette te.	10 Fear not, for I am with thee: turn not aside, for I am thy God: I have strengthened thee, and have helped thee, and the right hand of my just one hath upheld thee.
11 Ecco che saranno confusi e vergognerannosi tutti quelli che combatteranno contro a te; e saranno come se non fussono, e periranno gli uomini che ti contradicono.	11 Behold all that fight against thee shall be confounded and ashamed, they shall be as nothing, and the men shall perish that strive against thee.
12 Tu gli cercherai, e non gli troverai, uomini tuoi ribelli; saranno come se non fussono, e quasi come uno consumamento sarà dell' uomo il quale combatterà incontro a te.	12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find the men that resist thee: they shall be as nothing: and as a thing consumed the men that war against thee.
13 Però ch' io sono lo tuo Signore Iddio, che piglio la tua mano, e dico a te: non temere, però ch' io t'ho aiutato.	13 For I am the Lord thy God, who take thee by the hand, and say to thee: Fear not, I have helped thee.
14 Non temere, tu verme di Iacob, voi i quali siete morti di Israel: io t'ho aiutato, dice il Signore, e sono redentore tuo santo d' Israel.	14 Fear not, thou worm of Jacob, you that are dead of Israel: I have helped thee, saith the Lord: and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel.
15 Io hoe posto te come uno carro nuovo tritante, che averà li denti taglianti; e tritera' li monti, e sì li minuzzera', e li colli saranno quasi polvere.	15 I have made thee as a new thrashing wain, with teeth like a saw: thou shall thrash the mountains, and break them in pieces: and shalt make the hills as chaff.
16 Tu li ventolerai, e il vento li torrà, e li porterà via; e tu averai allegrezza nel Signore; e letizia averai nel santo d' Israel.	16 Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the Lord, in the Holy One of Israel thou shalt be joyful.
17 Li bisognosi e li poveri domandano l'acqua, e non vi sono; e la lingua loro si seccoe per la sete. Io Signore esaudiroe loro, Iddio d' Israel non gli abbandonerò.	17 The needy and the poor seek for waters, and there are none: their tongue hath been dry with thirst. I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
18 Io aprirò nelle parti di sopra de' colli li fiumi, e nel mezzo de' campi li fonti: e porrò lo deserto ne' radunamenti dell' acque, e la terra senza via in rami dell' acque.	18 I will open rivers in the high bills, and fountains in the midst of the plains: I will turn the desert into pools of waters, and the impassable land into streams of waters.
19 E porrò lo cedro nel deserto, e la spina, e l'alboro che farà la mirra, e l' ulivo; porrò nel deserto l'abete e l' olmo e lo bosso insieme,	19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, and the thorn, and the myrtle, and the olive tree: I will set in the desert the fir tree, the elm, and the box tree together:
20 acciò che veggiano e pensino e sappiano e intendano, che la mano di Dio ha fatto questo, e lo santo d' Israel (dice lo Signore Iddio) creò quello.	20 That they may see and know, and consider, and understand together that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
21 Fate presso lo vostro giudicio, dice lo Signore Iddio; arrecate con voi, se forse voi avete niente, dicea lo re di Iacob.	21 Bring your cause near, saith the Lord: bring hither, if you have any thing to allege, saith the King of Jacob.
22 Vengano innanzi, e annunzino a noi qualunque cose debbano avvenire; annunciate le cose che furono in prima; e porremo lo. cuore nostro, e sapremo le cose loro novissime; dimostrate a noi le cose che debbono venire.	22 Let them come, and tell us all things that are to come: tell us the former things what they were: and we will set our heart upon them, and shall know the latter end of them, and tell us the things that are to come.
23 (Venite e) annunciate quello che deve venire nel futuro, e sapremo che voi siete dii; fate o bene o male, se voi lo potete fare; e parliamo e veggiamoci insieme.	23 Shew the things that are to come hereafter, and we shall know that ye are gods. Do ye also good or evil, if you can: and let us speak, and see together.
24 Ecco che voi siete di niente, e la vostra opera di quello che non è; abominazione è a colui lo quale hae eletto voi.	24 Behold, you are of nothing, and your work of that which hath no being: he that hath chosen you is an abomination.
25 Io sì suscitai d'aquilone, e verrà dal nascimento del sole; egli chiamerà il mio nome, e menerà li signori quasi come luto, e come lo pentolaio che preme la terra.	25 I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come from the rising of the sun: he shall call upon my name, and he shall make princes to be as dirt, and as the potter treading clay.
26 Chi annunciò del cominciamento, che noi sappiamo, e (cercò) dal principio, che noi diciamo : tu se' giusto? Or non è chi annuncii, nè chi predica; e non è chi oda li vostri detti.	26 Who bath declared from the beginning, that we may know: and from time of old, that we may say: Thou art just. There is none that sheweth, nor that foretelleth, nor that heareth your words.
27 Lo primo dirà a Sion: io sono presente, e a Ierusalem darò evangelista.	27 The first shall say to Sion: Behold they are here, and to Jerusalem I will give an evangelist.
28 E io vidi che non era alcuno di costoro che facesse consiglio, e che (fosse) domandato ( ch' egli) rispondesse una parola.	28 And I saw, and there was no one even among them to consult, or who, when I asked, could answer a word.
29 Ecco che tutti sono ingiusti, e le loro opere sono vane; e tutti li loro idoli, quanti sono, sono vento e cosa vana.	29 Behold they are all in the wrong, and their works are vain: their idols are wind and vanity.
