Esodo 22

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Se alcuno avrà involato bue ovvero pecora, e uccideralla ovvero la venderà, cinque bue per uno bue restituisca, e quattro pecore per una pecora.	1 'If a thief is caught breaking in and is struck a mortal blow, his blood may not be avenged,
2 Se desfacente lo ladro, ovvero cavante la casa fosse trovato, e ricevuta la ferita morto fosse, lo percuotitore non sarà colpevole del sangue.	2 but if it happens after sunrise, his blood may be avenged. He wil make ful restitution; if he has not themeans, he will be sold to pay for what he has stolen.
3 Ma se, levato lo sole, facesse questo, omicidio avrà perpetrato (cioè fatto), ed egli morrà; se non avrà quello che renda per lo furto fatto, esso sarà venduto.	3 If the stolen animal is found alive in his possession, be it ox, donkey or animal from the flock, he wilpay back double.
4 Ma se fia trovato appresso di lui quella cosa la quale egli avesse (involato o) furato, e viva fosse, cioè o bue o asino o pecora (o simigliante cosa), doppio la restituisca.	4 'If anyone puts his animals out to graze in a field or vineyard and lets them graze in someone else'sfield, he wil make restitution for the part of the field that has been grazed on the basis of its yield. But if he haslet the whole field be grazed, he wil make restitution in proportion to the best crop of the field or vineyard.
5 Se alcuno guastasse lo campo o la vigna, o lasciassevi la bestia sua acciò che pasca l'altrui, qualunque cosa avrà avuta, per la estimazione del danno ristori a cui sia dovuto restituire.	5 'If a fire breaks out, setting light to thorn bushes and burning stacks, standing corn or the field as aresult, the person who started the fire wil make ful restitution.
6 Se venuto il fuoco troverà le spighe, ed arderà li monti delle biade, ovvero stanti le biade nei campi, renda il danno colui che accese il fuoco.	6 'If anyone entrusts money or goods to someone else's keeping and these are stolen from that person'shouse, the thief, if he can be discovered, wil repay double.
7 Se alcuno accommenderà ad alcuno amico pe cunia ovvero vasello in guardia, e da colui che la pecunia avrà ricevuta gli fia involata; se si troverà il ladro, doppia la renda.	7 Should the thief not be discovered, the owner of the house will come into the presence of God, todeclare that he has not laid hands on the other person's property.
8 Ma se si nasconde, lo signore della casa s'ap plicherà alli dii, e giurerà che non abbia isteso la mano alla cosa del prossimo	8 'In every case of law-breaking involving an ox, donkey, animal from the flock, clothing or lost propertyof any sort, the ownership of which is disputed, both parties wil lay their case before God. The party whom Godpronounces guilty wil pay back double to the other.
9 a trovare fraude così nel bue come nell'asino, e nella pecora e nel vestimento, e qualunque danno fare si puote; pervenga alli dii dell' uno e dell' altro la cagione; e se quelli giudicheranno, doppio restori il prossimo suo.	9 'If anyone entrusts a donkey, ox, animal from the flock or any other animal to someone else's keeping,and it dies or breaks a limb or is carried off without anyone seeing,
10 Se alcuno darà in guardia al prossimo suo il bue o la pecora o la bestia, e morto fosse ovvero indebilito, ovvero preso dai nemici (o per atto di ruberia) e niuno questo abbia veduto;	10 an oath by Yahweh wil decide between the two parties whether the keeper has laid hands on theother's property or not. The owner wil take what remains, the keeper wil not have to make good the loss.
11 la ragione del giurare sarà nel mezzo, che non abbia isteso la mano alla casa del prossimo suo; e riceva lo signore lo sacramento, (che non abbia isteso la mano) e quegli non sia costretto di rendere.	11 Only if the animal has been stolen from him, will he make restitution to the owner.
12 La qual cosa, se per furto fosse tolta, restituisca al signore suo.	12 If it has been savaged by a wild animal, he must bring the savaged remains of the animal asevidence, and wil then not have to make restitution.
13 E se mangiato fosse da bestia (o da alcuna fiera), porti a lui quello ch' è morto, e non gliel mendi.	13 'If anyone borrows an animal from someone else, and it breaks a limb or dies in the owner's absence,he wil make ful restitution.
14 Colui che al prossimo suo alcuna cosa di questo chiederà in prestanza, e debilitato o morto fosse, e il signore non vi fosse presente, di rendere sia costretto.	14 But if the animal's owner has been present, he wil not have to make good the loss. If the owner hashired it out, he wil get the cost of its hire.
15 La qual cosa, se nelle dette cose presente fue il signore, non sia mendata, massimamente se fosse venuto condotto per la mercede del lavorio suo.	15 'If a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged to be married, he wil pay her bride-price and make herhis wife.
16 Se alcuno corrompesse alcuna vergine che non sia ancora disposata, e dorma con lei, sia costretto di toglierla per moglie.	16 If her father absolutely refuses to let him have her, he will pay a sum equivalent to the bride-price of avirgin.
17 E se il padre della vergine non glie la vo lesse dare, dia la pecunia appresso il modo della dote, secondo che le vergini sono consuete di ricevere.	17 'You wil not al ow a sorceress to live.
18 Non sostenere che li malfattori vivano.	18 'Anyone who has intercourse with an animal will be put to death.
19 Chi si impaccerà con le bestie inonestamente, di morte morrà.	19 'Anyone who sacrifices to other gods wil be put under the curse of destruction.
20 Chi sacrifica agli dii, se non al Signore Iddio solo, sia morto.	20 'You wil not molest or oppress aliens, for you yourselves were once aliens in Egypt.
21 Lo forestiere non contristerai, nè non affli gerai (troppo); perciò che forestieri voi medesimi foste nella terra d'Egitto.	21 You wil not il -treat widows or orphans;
22 Alla vedova nè al pupillo non nuocerai.	22 if you il -treat them in any way and they make an appeal to me for help, I shal certainly hear theirappeal,
23 Perciò che se offenderai loro, e grideranno a me, e udirò lo rumore loro,	23 my anger wil be roused and I shal put you to the sword; then your own wives will be widows andyour own children orphans.
24 e indignerassi lo furore mio, io percuoterò voi col coltello, e saranno le mogli vostre vedove, e li figliuoli pupilli.	24 'If you lend money to any of my people, to anyone poor among you, you wil not play the usurer withhim: you will not demand interest from him.
25 Se la pecunia prestata darai al popolo mio, lo quale è povero, e il quale abita teco, non (lo) costringerai quasi come esattore, nè coll'usure non l'opprimerai.	25 'If you take someone's cloak in pledge, you wil return it to him at sunset.
26 Se pegno torrai dal prossimo tuo (bestia o) vestimento, innanzi che il sole sia calato, rendigli quello.	26 It is al the covering he has; it is the cloak he wraps his body in; what else wil he sleep in? If heappeals to me, I shall listen. At least with me he will find compassion!
27 Pero che in verità solo quello vestimento è col quale si copre la carne sua, nè non avrà altro nel quale egli dorma. Se egli chiamerà a me, io lo esaudirò; perciò ch' io sono misericordioso.	27 'You wil not revile God, nor curse your people's leader.
28 Ma non dir male degli dii; il principe del popolo tuo non maledicerai.	28 'Do not be slow about making offerings from your abundance and your surplus. You wil give me thefirst-born of your children;
29 Le decime nè le primizie non tarderai di offerire. Lo primogenito de' tuoi figliuoli darai a me.	29 you will do the same with your flocks and herds. For the first seven days the first-born wil stay withits mother; on the eighth day you wil give it to me.
30 E del bue e delle pecore somigliantemente il fa: sette di istia colla madre sua, e il dì ottavo rendi quello a me.	30 'You must be people consecrated to me. You wil not eat the meat of anything in the countrysidesavaged by wild animals; you wil throw it to the dogs.'
31 Comini santi sarete a me: la carne, che dalle bestie sarà innanzi assaggiata, non ne mani cate, ma gittatela ai cani.
