Ester 7

1 Andati che furono lo re e Aman alla regina per mangiare con lei,	1 So the king and Haman went to the banquet with Queen Esther.
2 e (avendo bene bevuto, ed) essendo lo re caldo di vino, disse alla regina Ester: qual è la tua domanda, Ester, acciò che ti sia data, e quello che tu vuoi che ti sia fatto? (Chiedi securamente, chè) se tu domandassi la metà del reame, la metà del reame sì avrai.	2 Again, on this second day, during the drinking of the wine, the king said to Esther, "Whatever you ask, Queen Esther, shall be granted you. Whatever request you make shall be honored, even for half the kingdom."
3 E la regina rispose: se io hoe trovata grazia nel cospetto tuo, e se a te piace ch' io dimandi, pregoti ch' io non muoia, e che il popolo mio non perisca.	3 Queen Esther replied: "If I have found favor with you, O king, and if it pleases your majesty, I ask that my life be spared, and I beg that you spare the lives of my people.
4 Però che con grandi inganni io e il popolo mio ti siamo accusati, perchè noi muoiamo; e piacesse a Dio che più tosto ci avessi venduti per ischiavi e per servi (e avessi posti in grandi fatiche); sarebbe male da portare, e piagnendo saremmo contenti; e costui (che questo hae ordinato, per sua falsità) la benignità dello re hae mutata in grande crudeltà.	4 For my people and I have been delivered to destruction, slaughter, and extinction. If we were to be sold into slavery I would remain silent, but as it is, the enemy will be unable to compensate for the harm done to the king."
5 E lo re (con grande ira) disse: chi è costui che hae avuta tanta potenza e tanto ardire? (Molto me ne maraviglio).	5 "Who and where," said King Ahasuerus to Queen Esther, "is the man who has dared to do this?"
6 Rispose la regina: il nemico e il perseguitatore nostro, pessimo uomo, è Aman. E udendo Aman nominarsi, venne tutto meno; e non ardiva d' alzare gli occhi innanzi al re, nè innanzi alla regina.	6 Esther replied, "The enemy oppressing us is this wicked Haman." At this, Haman was seized with dread of the king and queen.
7 Lo re turbato (con malo animo) levossi da tavola, e andonne nel giardino dove erano molti arbori. Aman si levò per pregare la regina, gli dovesse perdonare; perciò ch' egli conobbe l'ira del re, e perciò egli ebbe grande paura.	7 The king left the banquet in anger and went into the garden of the palace, but Haman stayed to beg Queen Esther for his life, since he saw that the king had decided on his doom.
8 E lo re, tornando dentro, vidde stare Aman ove la regina si posava. E allora il re disse (a coloro ch' erano con lui): non basta ad Aman quello che ha fatto, che anche vuole fare in mia presenza villania alla regina nella casa mia. E giammai niuna altra parola disse lo re ad Aman; e sùbito coprirono la faccia sua.	8 When the king returned from the garden of the palace to the banquet hall, Haman had thrown himself on the couch on which Esther was reclining; and the king exclaimed, "Will he also violate the queen while she is with me in my own house!" Scarcely had the king spoken when the face of Haman was covered over.
9 (Ma i servi, vedendo il re adirato), disse uno, che si chiamava Arbona, eunuco del re: (santa corona), questo Aman pessimo avea fatto fare uno paro di forche, le quali sono alte cinquanta cubiti, in casa sua per appiccare Mardocheo (il quale vi deliberoe dalla morte). E lo re comandò incontanente, che vi fosse posto suso Aman.	9 Harbona, one of the eunuchs who attended the king, said, "At the house of Haman stands a gibbet fifty cubits high. Haman prepared it for Mordecai, who gave the report that benefited the king." The king answered, "Hang him on it."
10 E così fu impiccato sopra quelle, forche le quali avea fatte per impiccare Mardocheo; e la ira del re cessò fatto questo; (sì che chi gitterà la pietra inverso Iddio, ispesso interviene che sopra il capo suo gli ritorna. E così intervenne ad Aman, uomo pessimo e malizioso).	10 So they hanged Haman on the gibbet which he had made ready for Mordecai, and the anger of the king abated.
