1 Ed era Ioatam, quando incominciò a regnare, di XXV anni; e XVI anni regnò in Ierusalem; il nome della madre sua fu Ierusa, figliuola di Sadoc.	1 Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother was named Jerusa, daughter of Zadok.
2 E fece quello ch' era diritto nel cospetto di Dio, secondo quello ch' avea fatto Ozia suo padre, fuori che non entrò nel tempio del Signore; e anco il popolo era delinquente.	2 He pleased the LORD just as his father Uzziah had done, though he did not enter the temple of the LORD; the people, however, continued to act sinfully.
3 Ed egli edificò la porta altissima della casa di Dio.	3 He built the upper gate of the LORD'S house and had much construction done on the wall of Ophel.
4 E ne' monti di Giuda edificò città, e nelle selve castella e torri.	4 Moreover, he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the forest land he set up fortresses and towers.
5 Ed egli combatteo contra il re de' figliuoli di Ammon, e vinselo; e diedero i figliuoli di Ammon a lui in quello tempo. cento talenti d' ariento, e dieci milia corbe di orzo, e altrettante di grano; queste cose diedero a lui i figliuoli di Ammon, nel secondo e terzo anno.	5 He fought with the king of the Ammonites and conquered them. That year the Ammonites paid him one hundred talents of silver, together with ten thousand kors of wheat and ten thousand of barley. They brought the same to him also in the second and in the third year.
6 E fu fortificato Ioatam, però che avea dirizzate le vie nel cospetto del suo Signore Iddio.	6 Thus Jotham continued to grow strong because he lived resolutely in the presence of the LORD, his God.

9 E dormì Ioatam co' padri suoi, e seppellironlo nella città di David; e regnò per lui Acaz suo figliuolo.	9 Jotham rested with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David, and his son Ahaz succeeded him as king.
