Genesis 9

SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Deus abençoou Noé e seus filhos: "Sede fecundos, disse-lhes ele, multiplicai-vos e enchei a terra.	1 God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, 'Breed, multiply and fil the earth.
2 Vós sereis objeto de temor e de espanto para todo animal da terra, toda ave do céu, tudo o que se arrasta sobre o solo e todos os peixes do mar: eles vos são entregues em mão.	2 Be the terror and the dread of al the animals on land and al the birds of heaven, of everything thatmoves on land and all the fish of the sea; they are placed in your hands.
3 Tudo o que se move e vive vos servirá de alimento; eu vos dou tudo isto, como vos dei a erva verde.	3 Every living thing that moves wil be yours to eat, no less than the foliage of the plants. I give youeverything,
4 Somente não comereis carne com a sua alma, com seu sangue.	4 with this exception: you must not eat flesh with life, that is to say blood, in it.
5 Eu pedirei conta de vosso sangue, por causa de vossas almas, a todo animal; e ao homem {que matar} o seu irmão, pedirei conta da alma do homem.	5 And I shal demand account of your life-blood, too. I shall demand it of every animal, and of man. Ofman as regards his fel ow-man, I shal demand account for human life.
6 Todo aquele que derramar o sangue humano terá seu próprio sangue derramado pelo homem, porque Deus fez o homem à sua imagem.	6 He who sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for in the image of God was mancreated.
7 Sede, pois, fecundos e multiplicai-vos, e espalhai-vos sobre a terra abundantemente."	7 Be fruitful then and multiply, teem over the earth and subdue it!'
8 Disse também Deus a Noé e as seus filhos:	8 God spoke as fol ows to Noah and his sons,
9 "Vou fazer uma aliança convosco e com vossa posteridade,	9 'I am now establishing my covenant with you and with your descendants to come,
10 assim como com todos os seres vivos que estão convosco: as aves, os animais domésticos, todos os animais selvagens que estão convosco, desde todos aqueles que saíram da arca até todo animal da terra.	10 and with every living creature that was with you: birds, cattle and every wild animal with you;everything that came out of the ark, every living thing on earth.
11 Faço esta aliança convosco: nenhuma criatura será destruída pelas águas do dilúvio, e não haverá mais dilúvio para devastar a terra."	11 And I shal maintain my covenant with you: that never again shal all living things be destroyed by thewaters of a flood, nor shal there ever again be a flood to devastate the earth.'
12 Deus disse: "Eis o sinal da aliança que eu faço convosco e com todos os seres vivos que vos cercam, por todas as gerações futuras:	12 'And this', God said, 'is the sign of the covenant which I now make between myself and you and everyliving creature with you for al ages to come:
13 Ponho o meu arco nas nuvens, para que ele seja o sinal da aliança entre mim e a terra.	13 I now set my bow in the clouds and it wil be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
14 Quando eu tiver coberto o céu de nuvens por cima da terra, o meu arco aparecerá nas nuvens,	14 When I gather the clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds,
15 e me lembrarei da aliança que fiz convosco e com todo ser vivo de toda espécie, e as águas não causarão mais dilúvio que extermine toda criatura.	15 I shal recall the covenant between myself and you and every living creature, in a word al living things,and never again will the waters become a flood to destroy al living things.
16 Quando eu vir o arco nas nuvens, eu me lembrarei da aliança eterna estabelecida entre Deus e todos os seres vivos de toda espécie que estão sobre a terra."	16 When the bow is in the clouds I shall see it and call to mind the eternal covenant between God andevery living creature on earth, that is, al living things.'
17 Dirigindo-se a Noé, Deus acrescentou: "Este é o sinal da aliança que faço entre mim e todas as criaturas que estão na terra."	17 'That', God told Noah, 'is the sign of the covenant I have established between myself and al livingthings on earth.'
18 Os filhos de Noé que saíram da arca eram Sem, Cam e Jafet. Cam era o pai de Canaã.	18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth-Ham being the father ofCanaan.
19 Estes eram os três filhos de Noé. É por eles que foi povoada toda a terra.	19 These three were Noah's sons, and from these the whole earth was peopled.
20 Noé, que era agricultor, plantou uma vinha.	20 Noah, a til er of the soil, was the first to plant the vine.
21 Tendo bebido vinho, embriagou-se, e apareceu nu no meio de sua tenda.	21 He drank some of the wine, and while he was drunk, he lay uncovered in his tent.
22 Cam, o pai de Canaã, vendo a nudez de seu pai, saiu e foi contá-lo aos seus irmãos.	22 Ham, father of Canaan, saw his father naked and told his two brothers outside.
23 Mas, Sem e Jafet, tomando uma capa, puseram-na sobre os seus ombros e foram cobrir a nudez de seu pai, andando de costas; e não viram a nudez de seu pai, pois que tinham os seus rostos voltados.	23 Shem and Japheth took a cloak and they both put it over their shoulders, and walking backwards,covered their father's nakedness; they kept their faces turned away, and they did not look at their father naked.
24 Quando Noé despertou de sua embriaguez, soube o que lhe tinha feito o seu filho mais novo.	24 When Noah awoke from his stupor he learned what his youngest son had done to him,
25 "Maldito seja Canaã, disse ele; que ele seja o último dos escravos de seus irmãos!"	25 and said: Accursed be Canaan, he shal be his brothers' meanest slave.
26 E acrescentou : "Bendito seja o Senhor Deus de Sem, e Canaã seja seu escravo!	26 He added: Blessed be Yahweh, God of Shem, let Canaan be his slave!
27 Que Deus dilate a Jafet; e este habite nas tendas de Sem, e Canaã seja seu escravo!"	27 May God make space for Japheth, may he live in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be his slave!
28 Noé viveu ainda depois do dilúvio trezentos e cinqüenta anos.	28 After the flood Noah lived three hundred and fifty years.
29 A duração total da vida de Noé foi de novecentos e cinqüenta anos; e morreu.	29 In al , Noah's life lasted nine hundred and fifty years; then he died.
