A Psalm according to Solomon.1 In you, Yahweh, I take refuge, I shal never be put to shame.
Give your judgment, O God, to the king, and your justice to the king’s son, to judge your people with justice and your poor with judgment.2 In your saving justice rescue me, deliver me, listen to me and save me.
Let the mountains take up peace for the people, and the hills, justice.3 Be a sheltering rock for me, always accessible; you have determined to save me, for you are my rock,my fortress.
He will judge the poor of the people, and he will bring salvation to the sons of the poor. And he will humble the false accuser.4 My God, rescue me from the clutches of the wicked, from the grasp of the rogue and the ruthless.
And he will remain, with the sun and before the moon, from generation to generation.5 For you are my hope, Lord, my trust, Yahweh, since boyhood.
He will descend like rain upon fleece, and like showers showering upon the earth.6 On you I have relied since my birth, since my mother's womb you have been my portion, the constanttheme of my praise.
In his days, justice will rise like the sun, with abundance of peace, until the moon is taken away.7 Many were bewildered at me, but you are my sure refuge.
And he will rule from sea to sea and from the river to the limits of the whole world.8 My mouth is full of your praises, fil ed with your splendour all day long.
In his sight, the Ethiopians will fall prostrate, and his enemies will lick the ground.9 Do not reject me in my old age, nor desert me when my strength is failing,
The kings of Tarshish and the islands will offer gifts. The kings of Arabia and of Seba will bring gifts.10 for my enemies are discussing me, those with designs on my life are plotting together.
And all the kings of the earth shall adore him. All nations will serve him.11 'Hound him down, for God has deserted him! Seize him, there is no one to rescue him.'
For he will free the poor from the powerful, and the poor one who has no helper.12 God, do not stand aloof, my God, come quickly to help me.
He will spare the poor and the indigent, and he will bring salvation to the souls of the poor.13 Shame and ruin on those who slander me, may those intent on harming me be covered with insultand infamy.
He will redeem their souls from usuries and from iniquity, and their names shall be honorable in his sight.14 As for me, my hope wil never fade, I wil praise you more and more.
And he will live, and to him will be given from the gold of Arabia, and by him they will always adore. They will bless him all day long.15 My lips shal proclaim your saving justice, your saving power all day long.
And there will be a firmament on earth, at the summits of mountains: its fruits will be extolled above Lebanon, and those of the city will flourish like the grass of the earth.16 I wil come in the power of Yahweh to tel of your justice, yours alone.
May his name be blessed forever; may his name remain before the sun. And all the tribes of the earth will be blessed in him. All nations will magnify him.17 God, you have taught me from boyhood, and I am still proclaiming your marvels.
Blessed is the Lord, God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things.18 Now that I am old and grey-haired, God, do not desert me, til I have proclaimed your strength togenerations still to come, your power
And blessed is the name of his majesty in eternity. And all the earth will be filled with his majesty. Amen. Amen.19 and justice to the skies. You have done great things, God, who is like you?
The praises of David, the son of Jesse, have reached an end.20 You have shown me much misery and hardship, but you will give me life again, You will raise me upagain from the depths of the earth,
prolong my old age, and comfort me again.
For my part, I will thank you on the lyre for your constancy, my God. I wil play the harp in yourhonour, Holy One of Israel.
My lips sing for joy as I play to you, because you have redeemed me,
and al day long my tongue muses on your saving justice. Shame and disgrace on those intent toharm me!
