1 Chronicles 16

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 They brought in the ark of God and set it within the tent which David had pitched for it. Then they offered up holocausts and peace offerings to God.	1 On introduisit l'arche de Dieu et on la déposa au centre de la tente que David avait faitdresser pour elle. On offrit devant Dieu des holocaustes et des sacrifices de communion.
2 When David had finished offering up the holocausts and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD,	2 Lorsque David eut achevé d'offrir ces holocaustes et ces sacrifices de communion, il bénit lepeuple au nom de Yahvé.
3 and distributed to every Israelite, to every man and every woman, a loaf of bread, a piece of meat, and a raisin cake.	3 Puis il fit une distribution à tous les Israélites, hommes et femmes; pour chacun, unecouronne de pain, une masse de dattes et un gâteau de raisins secs.
4 He now appointed certain Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, to celebrate, thank, and praise the LORD, the God of Israel.	4 David mit des lévites en service devant l'arche de Yahvé pour célébrer, glorifier et louerYahvé, le Dieu d'Israël,
5 Asaph was their chief, and second to him were Zechariah, Uzziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel. These were to play on harps and lyres, while Asaph was to sound the cymbals,	5 Asaph le premier, Zekarya en second, puis Uzziel, Shemiramot, Yehiel, Mattitya, Eliab,Benayahu, Obed-Edom et Yeïel. Ils jouaient de la lyre et de la cithare, tandis qu'Asaph faisait retentir lescymbales.
6 and the priests Benaiah and Jahaziel were to be the regular trumpeters before the ark of the covenant of God.	6 Les prêtres Benayahu et Yahaziel ne cessaient pas de jouer de la trompette devant l'arche del'alliance de Dieu.
7 Then, on that same day, David appointed Asaph and his brethren to sing for the first time these praises of the LORD:	7 Ce jour-là David, louant le premier Yahvé, confia cette louange à Asaph et à ses frères:
8 Give thanks to the LORD, invoke his name; make known among the nations his deeds.	8 Rendez grâce à Yahvé, criez son nom, annoncez parmi les peuples ses hauts faits!
9 Sing to him, sing his praise, proclaim all his wondrous deeds.	9 Chantez-le, jouez pour lui, répétez toutes ses merveilles!
10 Glory in his holy name; rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD!	10 Tirez gloire de son nom de sainteté, joie pour les coeurs qui cherchent Yahvé!
11 Look to the LORD in his strength; seek to serve him constantly.	11 Recherchez Yahvé et sa force, sans relâche poursuivez sa face!
12 Recall the wondrous deeds that he has wrought, his portents, and the judgments he has uttered,	12 rappelez-vous quelles merveilles il a faites, ses miracles et les jugements de sa bouche!
13 You descendants of Israel, his servants, sons of Jacob, his chosen ones!	13 Lignée d'Israël son serviteur, enfants de Jacob, ses élus,
14 He, the LORD, is our God; throughout the earth his judgments prevail.	14 c'est lui Yahvé notre Dieu; sur toute la terre ses jugements!
15 He remembers forever his covenant which he made binding for a thousand generations--	15 Rappelez-vous à jamais son alliance, parole promulguée pour mille générations,
16 Which he entered into with Abraham and by his oath to Isaac;	16 pacte conclu avec Abraham, serment qu'il fit à Isaac.
17 Which he established for Jacob by statute, for Israel as an everlasting covenant,	17 Il l'érigea en loi pour Jacob, pour Israël en alliance à jamais,
18 Saying, "To you will I give the land of Canaan as your allotted inheritance."	18 disant: "Je te donne une terre, Canaan, votre part d'héritage,
19 When they were few in number, a handful, and strangers there,	19 là où l'on a pu vous compter, peu nombreux, étrangers au pays."
20 Wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people,	20 Ils allaient de nation en nation, d'un royaume à un peuple différent;
21 He let no one oppress them, and for their sake he rebuked kings:	21 il ne laissa personne les opprimer, à cause d'eux il châtia des rois:
22 "Touch not my anointed, and to my prophets do no harm."	22 "Ne touchez pas à qui m'est consacré, à mes prophètes ne faites pas de mal!"
23 Sing to the LORD, all the earth, announce his salvation, day after day	23 Chantez à Yahvé, toute la terre! Proclamez jour après jour son salut,
24 Tell his glory among the nations; among all peoples, his wondrous deeds.	24 racontez aux nations sa gloire, à tous les peuples ses merveilles!
25 For great is the LORD and highly to be praised; and awesome is he, beyond all gods.	25 Très grand Yahvé, et louable hautement, redoutable, lui, par-dessus tous les dieux.
26 For all the gods of the nations are things of nought, but the LORD made the heavens.	26 Néant, tous les dieux des nations. C'est Yahvé qui fit les cieux.
27 Splendor and majesty go before him; praise and joy are in his holy place.	27 Devant lui, splendeur et majesté, dans son sanctuaire puissance et allégresse.
28 Give to the LORD, you families of nations, give to the LORD glory and praise;	28 Rapportez à Yahvé, familles des peuples, rapportez à Yahvé gloire et puissance,
29 Give to the LORD the glory due his name! Bring gifts, and enter his presence; worship the LORD in holy attire.	29 rapportez à Yahvé la gloire de son nom. Présentez l'oblation, portez-la devant lui, adorezYahvé dans son parvis de sainteté!
30 Tremble before him, all the earth; he has made the world firm, not to be moved.	30 Tremblez devant lui, toute la terre! Il fixa l'univers, inébranlable.
31 Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice; let them say among the nations: The LORD is king.	31 Joie au ciel! exulte la terre! Dites chez les païens: "C'est Yahvé qui règne!"
32 Let the sea and what fills it resound; let the plains rejoice and all that is in them!	32 Que gronde la mer et sa plénitude! Que jubile la campagne, et tout son fruit!
33 Then shall all the trees of the forest exult before the LORD, for he comes: he comes to rule the earth.	33 Que tous les arbres des forêts crient de joie! à la face de Yahvé, car il vient pour juger laterre.
34 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his kindness endures forever;	34 Rendez grâces à Yahvé, car il est bon, car éternel est son amour!
35 And say, "Save us, O God, our savior, gather us and deliver us from the nations, That we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in praising you."	35 Dites: Sauve-nous, Dieu de notre salut, rassemble-nous, retire-nous du milieu des païens,que nous rendions grâces à ton saint nom, et nous félicitions en ta louange.
36 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, through all eternity! Let all the people say, Amen! Alleluia.	36 Béni soit Yahvé le Dieu d'Israël depuis toujours jusqu'à toujours! Et que tout le peuple diseAmen! Alleluia!
37 Then David left Asaph and his brethren there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD to minister before the ark regularly according to the daily ritual;	37 David laissa là, devant l'arche de l'alliance de Yahvé, Asaph et ses frères, pour assurer unservice permanent devant l'arche suivant le rituel quotidien,
38 he also left there Obed-edom and sixty-eight of his brethren, including Obed-edom, son of Jeduthun, and Hosah, to be gatekeepers.	38 ainsi qu'Obed-Edom et ses 68 frères. Obed-Edom, fils de Yedutûn, et Hosa étaient portiers.
39 But the priest Zadok and his priestly brethren he left before the Dwelling of the LORD on the high place at Gibeon,	39 Quant au prêtre Sadoq et aux prêtres ses frères, il les laissa devant la Demeure de Yahvé,sur le haut lieu de Gabaôn,
40 to offer holocausts to the LORD on the altar of holocausts regularly, morning and evening, and to do all that is written in the law of the LORD which he has decreed for Israel.	40 pour offrir en permanence des holocaustes à Yahvé sur l'autel des holocaustes, matin et soir,et faire tout ce qui est écrit dans la Loi de Yahvé prescrite à Israël.
41 With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the others who were chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the LORD, "because his kindness endures forever,"	41 Il y avait avec eux Hémân, Yedutûn, et le restant de l'élite que l'on avait nominativementdésignée pour rendre grâce à Dieu, "car éternel est son amour."
42 with trumpets and cymbals for accompaniment, and instruments for the sacred chant. The sons of Jeduthun kept the gate.	42 Ils avaient avec eux Hémân et Yedutûn, chargés de faire retentir les trompettes, lescymbales et les instruments accompagnant les cantiques divins. Les fils de Yedutûn étaient préposés à la porte.
43 Then all the people departed, each to his own home, and David returned to bless his household.	43 Tout le peuple s'en alla, chacun chez soi, et David s'en retourna bénir sa maisonnée.
