Proverbs 13

1 A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.	1 Syn mądry miłuje karcenie, naśmiewca nie słucha nagany.
2 A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.	2 Z owocu swych ust spożywa się dobro, a gwałtem się sycą przewrotni.
3 He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.	3 Kto ust swych strzeże - ten strzeże życia, kto usta rozwiera - zgubi sam siebie.
4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.	4 Serce leniwego czeka bez skutku, a pilnych zamiary stale się spełniają.
5 A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.	5 Prawy się brzydzi słowem przewrotnym, źle i haniebnie czyni występny.
6 Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.	6 Prawość strzeże dróg niewinnego - a grzeszników powala nieprawość.
7 There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.	7 Jeden udaje bogacza - nie mając niczego, [inny] udaje nędzarza - a opływa w dobra.
8 The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.	8 Bogactwo okupem za życie człowieka, lecz tyran pogróżek nie słucha.
9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.	9 Wesoło błyszczy światło sprawiedliwych, a lampa niewiernych przygasa.
10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.	10 Skutkiem pychy stale są kłótnie, u szukających rady jest mądrość.
11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.	11 Przepadnie bogactwo podstępnie zagarnięte, a krok za krokiem zdobywane - rośnie.
12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.	12 Przewlekłe czekanie jest raną dla duszy, ziszczone pragnienie jest drzewem życia.
13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.	13 Kto gardzi nakazem, ten szkodę ponosi, nagrodę otrzyma, kto rozkaz szanuje.
14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.	14 Nauka mądrego jest źródłem życia, by sideł śmierci uniknąć.
15 Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.	15 Prawdziwy rozum zjednywa życzliwość, droga wiarołomnych niestała.
16 Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.	16 Roztropny czyni wszystko z rozwagą, a dureń ujawnia głupotę.
17 A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.	17 Poseł nikczemny wtrąca w niedolę, wierny posłaniec - lekarstwem.
18 Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.	18 W biedzie jest i hańbie, kto gardzi karnością, we czci zaś - kto strzeże upomnień.
19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.	19 Spełnione pragnienie ukoi duszę, wstrętne głupiemu - od zła się odwrócić.
20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.	20 Kto z mądrym przestaje - nabywa mądrości, towarzysz głupców poniesie szkodę.
21 Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.	21 Nieszczęście pędzi za grzesznikami, a szczęście nagrodą dla prawych.
22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.	22 Mąż dobry zostawi dziedzictwo wnukom, dobrym przypadnie majątek grzeszników.
23 Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.	23 Świeża uprawa ubogich da wiele żywności, majątek niszczeje bezprawiem.
24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.	24 Nie kocha syna, kto rózgi żałuje, kto kocha go - w porę go karci.
25 The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.	25 Mąż prawy ma w bród pożywienia, żołądek niewiernych głód cierpi.
