1 Canto delle salite. Di Davide.Se il Signore non fosse stato per noi– lo dica Israele –,	1 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;
2 se il Signore non fosse stato per noi,quando eravamo assaliti,	2 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:
3 allora ci avrebbero inghiottiti vivi,quando divampò contro di noi la loro collera.	3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:
4 Allora le acque ci avrebbero travolti,un torrente ci avrebbe sommersi;	4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:
5 allora ci avrebbero sommersiacque impetuose.	5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.
6 Sia benedetto il Signore,che non ci ha consegnati in preda ai loro denti.	6 Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.
7 Siamo stati liberati come un passerodal laccio dei cacciatori:il laccio si è spezzatoe noi siamo scampati.	7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
8 Il nostro aiuto è nel nome del Signore:egli ha fatto cielo e terra.	8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
