Amós 2

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Así habla el Señor: Por tres crímenes de Moab, y por cuatro, no revocaré mi sentencia. Porque él quemó los huesos del rey de Edom hasta calcinarlos,	1 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of Moab, I have made my decree and will notrelent: because they have burnt the bones of the king of Edom to ash,
2 yo enviaré fuego contra Moab y él consumirá los palacios de Queriot; Moab morirá en el tumulto, entre gritos de guerra, al sonido de la trompeta;	2 I shal send fire down into Moab to devour the palaces of Kerioth, and Moab will die in the tumult, amidwar cries and the blare of trumpets;
3 extirparé al juez de en medio de él, y con él, mataré a todos sus oficiales, dice el Señor.	3 I shal destroy the ruler there and slaughter al the chief men there with him, says Yahweh.
4 Así habla el Señor: Por tres crímenes de Judá, y por cuatro, no revocaré mi sentencia. Porque despreciaron la Ley del Señor y no observaron sus preceptos; porque los extraviaron sus falsos dioses, a los que habían seguido sus padres,	4 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of Judah, I have made my decree and wil notrelent: because they have despised Yahweh's law and not kept his commandments, since their Falsehoods,which their ancestors followed, have led them astray,
5 yo enviaré fuego contra Judá y él consumirá los palacios de Jerusalén.	5 I shal send fire down on Judah to devour the palaces of Jerusalem.
6 Así habla el Señor: Por tres crímenes de Israel, y por cuatro, no revocaré mi sentencia. Porque ellos venden al justo por dinero y al pobre por un par de sandalias;	6 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of Israel, I have made my decree and wil notrelent: because they have sold the upright for silver and the poor for a pair of sandals,
7 pisotean sobre el polvo de la tierra la cabeza de los débiles y desvían el camino de los humildes; el hijo y el padre tienen relaciones con la misma joven, profanando así mi santo Nombre;	7 because they have crushed the heads of the weak into the dust and thrust the rights of the oppressedto one side, father and son sleeping with the same girl and thus profaning my holy name,
8 se tienden sobre ropas tomadas en prenda, al lado de cualquier altar, y beben en la Casa de su Dios el vino confiscado injustamente...	8 lying down beside every altar on clothes acquired as pledges, and drinking the wine of the people theyhave fined in the house of their god.
9 ¡Y pensar que yo destruí ante ellos al amorreo, cuya altura era igual a la de los cedros y que era fuerte como las encinas: arranqué su fruto por arriba y sus raíces por debajo!	9 Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, he who was as tal as the cedars, as strong as theoaks; I who destroyed his fruit above ground and his roots below.
10 Y a ustedes, los hice subir del país de Egipto y los conduje cuarenta años por el desierto, para que tomaran en posesión el país del amorreo.	10 It was I who brought you up from Egypt and for forty years led you through the desert to takepossession of the Amorite's country;
11 Yo suscité profetas entre sus hijos y nazireos entre sus jóvenes; ¿no es así, israelitas? –oráculo del Señor–.	11 I who raised up prophets from your sons and Nazirites from your young men. Israelites, is this nottrue? -declares Yahweh!
12 Pero ustedes hicieron beber vino a los nazireos y ordenaron a los profetas: «¡No profeticen!».	12 But you have made the Nazirite drink wine and given orders to the prophets, 'Do not prophesy.'
13 Por eso, yo los voy a aplastar, como aplasta un carro cargado de gavillas.	13 Very wel ! Like a cart overloaded with sheaves I shall crush you where you stand;
14 El hombre veloz no tendrá escapatoria, el fuerte no podrá valerse de su fuerza ni el valiente salvará su vida;	14 flight wil be cut off for the swift, the strong will have no chance to exert his strength nor the warrior beable to save his life;
15 el arquero no resistirá, el de piernas ágiles no escapará, el jinete no salvará su vida,	15 the archer wil not stand his ground, the swift of foot wil not escape, nor will the horseman save hislife;
16 y el más valeroso entre los valientes huirá desnudo aquel día –oráculo del Señor–.	16 even the bravest of warriors will jettison his arms and run away, that day! -declares Yahweh!
