Deuteronomio 11

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Amarás a Yahveh tu Dios y guardarás siempre sus ritos, sus preceptos, normas y mandamientos.	1 'You must love Yahweh your God and always keep his observances, his laws, his customs, hiscommandments.
2 Vosotros sabéis hoy - no vuestros hijos, que ni saben ni han visto la lección de Yahveh vuestro Dios, su grandeza, su mano fuerte y su tenso brazo -	2 You are the ones who have had the experience, not your children. They have not had the experience,they have not witnessed the lessons of Yahweh your God, his greatness, his mighty hand and his outstretchedarm,
3 las señales y hazañas que realizó él en medio de Egipto, contra Faraón rey de Egipto y todo su pueblo;	3 the signs and the deeds which he performed in the heart of Egypt, against Pharaoh king of Egypt andhis entire country,
4 lo que hizo con el ejército de Egipto, con sus caballos y sus carros, precipitando sobre ellos las aguas del mar de Suf cuando os perseguían, y aniquilándolos Yahveh hasta el día de hoy;	4 what he did to the armies of Egypt, to their horses and their chariots, by overwhelming them with thewaters of the Sea of Reeds when they were pursuing you, and leaving no trace of them to this day;
5 lo que ha hecho por vosotros en el desierto hasta vuestra llegada a este lugar;	5 what he did for you in the desert, until you arrived here;
6 lo que hizo con Datán y Abirón, hijos de Eliab el rubenita, cuando la tierra abrió su boca y los tragó en medio de todo Israel, con sus familias, sus tiendas y todos los que les seguían.	6 what he did to Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when, with al Israel standinground, the earth opened its mouth and swal owed them, with their families, their tents and al their supporters.
7 Pues vuestros mismos ojos han visto toda esta gran obra que Yahveh ha realizado.	7 Al these great deeds of Yahweh you have seen with your own eyes.
8 Guardaréis todos los mandamientos que yo os prescribo hoy, para que os hagaís fuertes y lleguéis a poseer la tierra a la que vais a pasar para tomarla en posesión,	8 'You must keep al the commandments which I enjoin on you today, so that you may have the strengthto conquer the country into which you are about to cross, to take possession of it,
9 y para que prolonguéis vuestros días en el suelo que Yahveh juró dar a vuestros padres y a su descendencia, tierra que mana leche y miel.	9 and so that you may live long in the country which Yahweh promised on oath to bestow on yourancestors and their descendants, a country flowing with milk and honey.
10 Porque la tierra a la que vas a entrar para tomarla en posesión no es como el país de Egipto del que habéis salido, donde después de sembrar había que regar con el pie, como se riega un huerto de hortalizas.	10 'For the country which you are about to enter and make your own is not like the country of Egyptfrom which you have come, where, having done your sowing, you had to water the seed by foot, as though in avegetable garden.
11 Sino que la tierra a la que vais a pasar para tomarla en posesión es una tierra de montes y valles, que bebe el agua de la lluvia del cielo.	11 No, the country which you are about to enter and make your own, is a country of hills and val eyswatered by the rain of heaven.
12 De esta tierra se cuida Yahveh tu Dios; los ojos de Yahveh tu Dios están constantemente puestos en ella, desde que comienza el año hasta que termina.	12 Yahweh your God looks after this country, the eyes of Yahweh your God are always on it, from thebeginning of the year to the end.
13 Y si vosotros obedecéis puntualmente a los mandamientos que yo os prescribo hoy, amando a Yahveh vuestro Dios y sirviéndole con todo vuestro corazón y con toda vuestra alma,	13 Depend on it: if you faithfully obey the commandments I enjoin on you today, loving Yahweh yourGod and serving him with al your heart and al your soul,
14 yo daré a vuestro país la lluvia a su tiempo, lluvia de otoño y lluvia de primavera, y tú podrás cosechar tu trigo, tu mosto y tu aceite;	14 I shal give your country rain at the right time, rain in autumn, rain in spring, so that you can harvestyour wheat, your new wine and your oil.
15 yo daré a tu campo hierba para tu ganado, y comerás hasta hartarte.	15 I shal provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat to your heart's content.
16 Cuidad bien que no se pervierta vuestro corazón y os descarriéis a dar culto o otros dioses, y a postraros ante ellos;	16 Beware of letting your heart be seduced: if you go astray, serve other gods and bow down to them,
17 pues la ira de Yahveh se encendería contra vosotros y cerraría los cielos, no habría más lluvia, el suelo no daría su fruto y vosotros pereceríais bien pronto en esa tierra buena que Yahveh os da.	17 Yahweh's anger wil be kindled against you, he wil shut the heavens, there wil be no more rain, thesoil wil not yield its produce and, in the fine country given you by Yahweh, you wil quickly perish.
18 Poned estas palabras en vuestro corazón y en vuestra alma, atadlas a vuestra mano como una señal, y sean como una insignia entre vuestros ojos.	18 'Let these words of mine remain in your heart and in your soul; fasten them on your hand as a signand on your forehead as a headband.
19 Enseñádselas a vuestros hijos, hablando de ellas tanto si estás en casa como si vas de viaje, así acostado como levantado.	19 Teach them to your children, and keep on tel ing them, when you are sitting at home, when you areout and about, when you are lying down and when you are standing up.
20 Las escribirás en las jambas de tu casa y en tus puertas,	20 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,
21 para que vuestros días y los días de vuestros hijos en la tierra que Yahveh juró dar a vuestros padres sean tan numerosos como los días del cielo sobre la tierra.	21 so that you and your children may live long in the country which Yahweh swore to your ancestorsthat he would give them for as long as there is a sky above the earth.
22 Porque, si de verdad guardáis todos estos mandamientos que yo os mando practicar, amando a Yahveh vuestro Dios, siguiendo todos sus caminos y viviendo unidos a él,	22 'For if you faithful y keep and observe al these commandments that I enjoin on you today, lovingYahweh your God, following all his ways and holding fast to him,
23 Yahveh desalojará delante de vosotros a todas esas naciones, y vosotros desalojaréis a naciones más numerosas y fuertes que vosotros.	23 Yahweh wil dispossess al these nations before you, and you wil dispossess nations greater andmore powerful than yourselves.
24 Todo lugar que pise la planta de vuestro pie será vuestro; desde el Río, el río Eufrates, hasta el mar occidental, se extenderá vuestro territorio.	24 Wherever the sole of your foot treads wil be yours; your territory will run from the desert al the wayto the Lebanon; and from the River, from the River Euphrates, as far as the Western Sea, wil be your territory.
25 Nadie podrá resistiros; Yahveh vuestro Dios hará que se os tema y se os respete sobre la haz de toda la tierra que habéis de pisar, como él os ha dicho.	25 No one wil be able to resist you; Yahweh your God will make you feared and dreaded throughout theterritory you tread, as he has promised you.
26 Mira: Yo pongo hoy ante vosotros bendición y maldición.	26 'Today, look, I am offering you a blessing and a curse:
27 Bendición si escucháis los mandamientos de Yahveh vuestro Dios que yo os prescribo hoy,	27 a blessing, if you obey the commandments of Yahweh your God which I enjoin on you today;
28 maldición si desoís los mandamientos de Yahveh vuestro Dios, si os apartáis del camino que yo os prescribo hoy, para seguir a otros dioses que no conocéis.	28 a curse, if you disobey the commandments of Yahweh your God and leave the way which today Ihave marked out for you, by following other gods hitherto unknown to you.
29 Cuando Yahveh tu Dios te haya introducido en la tierra a la que vas a entrar para tomarla en posesión, pondrás la bendición sobre el monte Garizim y la maldición sobre el monte Ebal.	29 And when Yahweh your God has brought you into the country which you are about to enter andmake your own, you must set the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.
30 (Estos montes están, como sabéis, al otro lado del Jordán, detrás del camino del poniente, en el país de los cananeos que habitan en la Arabá, frente a Guilgal, cerca de la Encina de Moré.)	30 (These mountains, as everyone knows, are on the other side of the Jordan on the westward road, inthe territory of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, near the Oak of Moreh.)
31 Ya que vais a pasar el Jordán para ir a tomar posesión de la tierra que Yahveh vuestro Dios os da, cuando la poseáis y habitéis en ella,	31 For you are about to cross the Jordan, to enter and take possession of the country given you byYahweh your God. You wil possess it, you wil live in it,
32 cuidaréis de poner en práctica todos los preceptos y normas que yo os expongo hoy.	32 and you must keep and observe al the laws and customs promulgated by me to you today.'
