1 אֵלֶּה מַסְעֵי בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר יָצְאוּ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם לְצִבְאֹתָם בְּיַד־מֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן	1 These were the stages of the journey made by the Israelites when they left Egypt in their companiesunder the leadership of Moses and Aaron.
2 וַיִּכְתֹּב מֹשֶׁה אֶת־מֹוצָאֵיהֶם לְמַסְעֵיהֶם עַל־פִּי יְהוָה וְאֵלֶּה מַסְעֵיהֶם לְמֹוצָאֵיהֶם	2 Moses recorded their starting-points in writing whenever they moved on at Yahweh's order. Thestages, from one starting-point to another, were as fol ows:
3 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵרַעְמְסֵס בַּחֹדֶשׁ הָרִאשֹׁון בַּחֲמִשָּׁה עָשָׂר יֹום לַחֹדֶשׁ הָרִאשֹׁון מִמָּחֳרַת הַפֶּסַח יָצְאוּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּיָד רָמָה לְעֵינֵי כָּל־מִצְרָיִם	3 They left Rameses in the first month. It was the fifteenth day of the first month, the day following thePassover, when the Israelites confidently set out, under the eyes of al Egypt.
4 וּמִצְרַיִם מְקַבְּרִים אֵת אֲשֶׁר הִכָּה יְהוָה בָּהֶם כָּל־בְּכֹור וּבֵאלֹהֵיהֶם עָשָׂה יְהוָה שְׁפָטִים	4 The Egyptians were burying those of their own people whom Yahweh had struck down, all the first-born; Yahweh had carried out his judgement on their gods.
5 וַיִּסְעוּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵרַעְמְסֵס וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּסֻכֹּת	5 The Israelites left Rameses and camped at Succoth.
6 וַיִּסְעוּ מִסֻּכֹּת וַיַּחֲנוּ בְאֵתָם אֲשֶׁר בִּקְצֵה הַמִּדְבָּר	6 Then they left Succoth and encamped at Etham which is on the edge of the desert.
7 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵאֵתָם וַיָּשָׁב עַל־פִּי הַחִירֹת אֲשֶׁר עַל־פְּנֵי בַּעַל צְפֹון וַיַּחֲנוּ לִפְנֵי מִגְדֹּל	7 They left Etham, turned back to Pi-Hahiroth, opposite Baal-Zephon, and encamped before Migdol.
8 וַיִּסְעוּ מִפְּנֵי הַחִירֹת וַיַּעַבְרוּ בְתֹוךְ־הַיָּם הַמִּדְבָּרָה וַיֵּלְכוּ דֶּרֶךְ שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים בְּמִדְבַּר אֵתָם וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּמָרָה	8 They left Pi-Hahiroth, crossed the sea into the desert, and after marching for three days in the desertof Etham they encamped at Marah.
9 וַיִּסְעוּ מִמָּרָה וַיָּבֹאוּ אֵילִמָה וּבְאֵילִם שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה עֵינֹת מַיִם וְשִׁבְעִים תְּמָרִים וַיַּחֲנוּ־שָׁם	9 They left Marah and reached Elim. At Elim there were twelve springs of water and seventy palmtrees; they encamped there.
10 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵאֵילִם וַיַּחֲנוּ עַל־יַם־סוּף	10 They left Elim and encamped by the Sea of Reeds.
11 וַיִּסְעוּ מִיַּם־סוּף וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּמִדְבַּר־סִין	11 They left the Sea of Reeds and encamped in the desert of Sin.
12 וַיִּסְעוּ מִמִּדְבַּר־סִין וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּדָפְקָה	12 They left the desert of Sin and encamped at Dophkah.
13 וַיִּסְעוּ מִדָּפְקָה וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּאָלוּשׁ	13 They left Dophkah and encamped at Alush.
14 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵאָלוּשׁ וַיַּחֲנוּ בִּרְפִידִם וְלֹא־הָיָה שָׁם מַיִם לָעָם לִשְׁתֹּות	14 They left Alush and encamped at Rephidim; the people found no drinking water there.
15 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵרְפִידִם וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּמִדְבַּר סִינָי	15 They left Rephidim and encamped in the desert of Sinai.
16 וַיִּסְעוּ מִמִּדְבַּר סִינָי וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּקִבְרֹת הַתַּאֲוָה	16 They left the desert of Sinai and encamped at Kibroth-ha-Taavah.
17 וַיִּסְעוּ מִקִּבְרֹת הַתַּאֲוָה וַיַּחֲנוּ בַּחֲצֵרֹת	17 They left Kibroth-ha-Taavah and encamped at Hazeroth.
18 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵחֲצֵרֹת וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּרִתְמָה	18 They left Hazeroth and encamped at Rithmah.
19 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵרִתְמָה וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּרִמֹּן פָּרֶץ	19 They left Rithmah and encamped at Rimmon-Perez.
20 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵרִמֹּן פָּרֶץ וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּלִבְנָה	20 They left Rimmon-Perez and encamped at Libnah.
21 וַיִּסְעוּ מִלִּבְנָה וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּרִסָּה	21 They left Libnah and encamped at Rissah.
22 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵרִסָּה וַיַּחֲנוּ בִּקְהֵלָתָה	22 They left Rissah and encamped at Kehelathah.
23 וַיִּסְעוּ מִקְּהֵלָתָה וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּהַר־שָׁפֶר	23 They left Kehelathah and encamped at Mount Shepher.
24 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵהַר־שָׁפֶר וַיַּחֲנוּ בַּחֲרָדָה	24 They left Mount Shepher and encamped at Haradah.
25 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵחֲרָדָה וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּמַקְהֵלֹת	25 They left Haradah and encamped at Makheloth.
26 וַיִּסְעוּ מִמַּקְהֵלֹת וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּתָחַת	26 They left Makheloth and encamped at Tahath.
27 וַיִּסְעוּ מִתָּחַת וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּתָרַח	27 They left Tahath and encamped at Terah.
28 וַיִּסְעוּ מִתָּרַח וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּמִתְקָה	28 They left Terah and encamped at Mithkah.
29 וַיִּסְעוּ מִמִּתְקָה וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּחַשְׁמֹנָה	29 They left Mithkah and encamped at Hashmonah.
30 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵחַשְׁמֹנָה וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּמֹסֵרֹות	30 They left Hashmonah and encamped at Moseroth.
31 וַיִּסְעוּ מִמֹּסֵרֹות וַיַּחֲנוּ בִּבְנֵי יַעֲקָן	31 They left Moseroth and encamped at Bene-Jaakan.
32 וַיִּסְעוּ מִבְּנֵי יַעֲקָן וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּחֹר הַגִּדְגָּד	32 They left Bene-Jaakan and encamped at Hor-Gidgad.
33 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵחֹר הַגִּדְגָּד וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּיָטְבָתָה	33 They left Hor-Gidgad and encamped at Jotbathah.
34 וַיִּסְעוּ מִיָּטְבָתָה וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּעַבְרֹנָה	34 They left Jotbathah and encamped at Abronah.
35 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵעַבְרֹנָה וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּעֶצְיֹון גָּבֶר	35 They left Abronah and encamped at Ezion-Geber.
36 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵעֶצְיֹון גָּבֶר וַיַּחֲנוּ בְמִדְבַּר־צִן הִוא קָדֵשׁ	36 They left Ezion-Geber and encamped in the desert of Zin, that is, at Kadesh.
37 וַיִּסְעוּ מִקָּדֵשׁ וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּהֹר הָהָר בִּקְצֵה אֶרֶץ אֱדֹום	37 They left Kadesh and encamped at Mount Hor, on the borders of the land of Edom.
38 וַיַּעַל אַהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֵן אֶל־הֹר הָהָר עַל־פִּי יְהוָה וַיָּמָת שָׁם בִּשְׁנַת הָאַרְבָּעִים לְצֵאת בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַחֲמִישִׁי בְּאֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ	38 The priest Aaron went up Mount Hor on Yahweh's orders and died there in the fortieth year of theexodus of the Israelites from Egypt, in the fifth month, on the first day of the month.
39 וְאַהֲרֹן בֶּן־שָׁלֹשׁ וְעֶשְׂרִים וּמְאַת שָׁנָה בְּמֹתֹו בְּהֹר הָהָר׃ ס	39 Aaron was a hundred and twenty-three years old when he died on Mount Hor.
40 וַיִּשְׁמַע הַכְּנַעֲנִי מֶלֶךְ עֲרָד וְהוּא־יֹשֵׁב בַּנֶּגֶב בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן בְּבֹא בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל	40 The king of Arad, the Canaanite who lived in the Negeb of Canaan, heard of the Israelites' arrival.
41 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵהֹר הָהָר וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּצַלְמֹנָה	41 They left Mount Hor and encamped at Zalmonah.
42 וַיִּסְעוּ מִצַּלְמֹנָה וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּפוּנֹן	42 They left Zalmonah and encamped at Punon.
43 וַיִּסְעוּ מִפּוּנֹן וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּאֹבֹת	43 They left Punon and encamped at Oboth.
44 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵאֹבֹת וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּעִיֵּי הָעֲבָרִים בִּגְבוּל מֹואָב	44 They left Oboth and encamped in Moabite territory at Iye-Abarim.
45 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵעִיִּים וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּדִיבֹן גָּד	45 They left Iyim and encamped at Dibon-Gad.
46 וַיִּסְעוּ מִדִּיבֹן גָּד וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּעַלְמֹן דִּבְלָתָיְמָה	46 They left Dibon-Gad and encamped at Almon-Diblathaim.
47 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵעַלְמֹן דִּבְלָתָיְמָה וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּהָרֵי הָעֲבָרִים לִפְנֵי נְבֹו	47 They left Almon-Diblathaim and encamped in the Abarim mountains facing Nebo.
48 וַיִּסְעוּ מֵהָרֵי הָעֲבָרִים וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּעַרְבֹת מֹואָב עַל יַרְדֵּן יְרֵחֹו	48 They left the Abarim mountains and encamped on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan oppositeJericho.
49 וַיַּחֲנוּ עַל־הַיַּרְדֵּן מִבֵּית הַיְשִׁמֹת עַד אָבֵל הַשִּׁטִּים בְּעַרְבֹת מֹואָב׃ ס	49 They encamped near the Jordan between Beth-ha-Jeshimoth and Abel-ha-Shittim, on the Plains ofMoab.
50 וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה בְּעַרְבֹת מֹואָב עַל־יַרְדֵּן יְרֵחֹו לֵאמֹר	50 Yahweh spoke to Moses on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan by Jericho, and said:
51 דַּבֵּר אֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם כִּי אַתֶּם עֹבְרִים אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּן אֶל־אֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן	51 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "When you have crossed the Jordan into Canaan,
52 וְהֹורַשְׁתֶּם אֶת־כָּל־יֹשְׁבֵי הָאָרֶץ מִפְּנֵיכֶם וְאִבַּדְתֶּם אֵת כָּל־מַשְׂכִּיֹּתָם וְאֵת כָּל־צַלְמֵי מַסֵּכֹתָם תְּאַבֵּדוּ וְאֵת כָּל־בָּמֹתָם תַּשְׁמִידוּ	52 you wil drive out al the local inhabitants before you. You wil destroy al their painted images, youwil destroy al their metal statues and you wil demolish al their high places.
53 וְהֹורַשְׁתֶּם אֶת־הָאָרֶץ וִישַׁבְתֶּם־בָּהּ כִּי לָכֶם נָתַתִּי אֶת־הָאָרֶץ לָרֶשֶׁת אֹתָהּ	53 You wil take possession of the country and settle in it, for I have given you the country as yourproperty.
54 וְהִתְנַחַלְתֶּם אֶת־הָאָרֶץ בְּגֹורָל לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתֵיכֶם לָרַב תַּרְבּוּ אֶת־נַחֲלָתֹו וְלַמְעַט תַּמְעִיט אֶת־נַחֲלָתֹו אֶל אֲשֶׁר־יֵצֵא לֹו שָׁמָּה הַגֹּורָל לֹו יִהְיֶה לְמַטֹּות אֲבֹתֵיכֶם תִּתְנֶחָלוּ	54 You wil share it out by lot among your clans. To a large clan you wil give a larger heritage, and to asmal er clan you wil give a smal er heritage. Where the lot fal s for each, that wil be his. Your heritage wildepend on the size of your tribe.
55 וְאִם־לֹא תֹורִישׁוּ אֶת־יֹשְׁבֵי הָאָרֶץ מִפְּנֵיכֶם וְהָיָה אֲשֶׁר תֹּותִירוּ מֵהֶם לְשִׂכִּים בְּעֵינֵיכֶם וְלִצְנִינִם בְּצִדֵּיכֶם וְצָרֲרוּ אֶתְכֶם עַל־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם יֹשְׁבִים בָּהּ	55 If, however, you do not drive out the local inhabitants before you, the ones you al ow to remain wilbe thorns in your eyes and thistles in your sides and wil harass you in the country where you are living,
56 וְהָיָה כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּמִּיתִי לַעֲשֹׂות לָהֶם אֶעֱשֶׂה לָכֶם׃ פ	56 and I shal treat you as I intended to treat them." '
