1 Timothy 6

1 Whoever are servants under the yoke, let them consider their masters to be worthy of every honor, lest the name and doctrine of the Lord be blasphemed.	1 Tutti quelli che sono sotto il giogo della schiavitù stimino degni d'ogni onore i loro padroni affinchè il nome e la dottrina del Signore non siano bestemmiati.
2 But those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brothers, but rather serve them all the more because they are believing and beloved, participants of the same service. Teach and exhort these things.	2 E quelli che hanno dei padroni credenti non li disprezzino, col pretesto che son fratelli; ma tanto meglio li servano, appunto perchè sono fedeli e diletti, essendo partecipi del medesimo benefìzio. Cosi insegna ed esorta.
3 If anyone teaches otherwise, and does not consent to the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to that doctrine which is in accord with piety,	3 Se qualcuno insegna diversamente e non s'attiene alle sane parole del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo e alla dottrina che è conforme alla pietà,
4 then he is arrogant, knowing nothing, yet languishing amid the questions and quarrels of words. From these arise envy, contention, blasphemy, evil suspicions:	4 egli è un superbo che non sa nulla, ha il malanno delle questioni e delle logomachie, dalle quali nascono invidie, contese, maldicenze cattivi sospetti,
5 the conflicts of men who have been corrupted in mind and deprived of truth, who consider profit to be piety.	5 controversie di uomini corrotti di mente e privati della verità, i quali consideran la pietà come fonte di guadagni.
6 But piety with sufficiency is great gain.	6 E' davvéro una gran fonte di guadagno la pietà contenta del necessario.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and there is no doubt that we can take nothing away.	7 Giacché nulla abbiamo portato in questo mondo e senza dubbio non possiamo portar via nulla.
8 But, having nourishment and some kind of covering, we should be content with these.	8 E quindi avendo gli alimenti e di che coprirci, contentiamoci.
9 For those who want to become rich fall into temptation and into the snare of the devil and into many useless and harmful desires, which submerge men in destruction and in perdition.	9 Infatti quelli che vogliono arricchire, cadono nella tentazione e nel laccio del diavolo, e in molti desideri inutili e nocivi che sommergono gli uomini nella morte e nella perdizione;
10 For desire is the root of all evils. Some persons, hungering in this way, have strayed from the faith and have entangled themselves in many sorrows.	10 perchè radice di tutti i mali è la cupidigia, abbandonandosi alla quale alcuni han deviato dalla fede e sono incappati in molti guai.
11 But you, O man of God, flee from these things, and truly pursue justice, piety, faith, charity, patience, meekness.	11 Ma tu, o uomo di Dio, fuggi queste cose; segui invece la giustizia, la pietà, la fede, la carità, la pazienza, la mansuetudine;
12 Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you have been called, and make a good profession of faith in the sight of many witnesses.	12 combatti la buona battaglia della fede, conquista la vita eterna, per la quale sei stato chiamato ed hai fatta quella bella professione di fede dinanzi a molti testimoni.
13 I charge you, in the sight of God, who enlivens all things, and in the sight of Christ Jesus, who gave the testimony of a good profession under Pontius Pilate,	13 Ti ordino, dinanzi a Dio che a tutto dà vita, e a Cristo Gesù che sotto Ponzio Pilato rese testimonianza con quella bella professione,
14 to observe the commandment, immaculately, irreproachably, unto the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.	14 di osservare questi precetti, immacolato e irreprensibile fino alla venuta del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo,
15 For at the proper time, he shall reveal the blessed and only Power, the King of kings and the Lord of lords,	15 che sarà manifestata a suo tempo dal beato ed unico e potente Re dei re e Signore dei signori,
16 who alone holds immortality, and who inhabits the inaccessible light, whom no man has seen, nor even is able to see, to whom is honor and everlasting dominion. Amen.	16 l'unico che possiede l'immortalità e alita una luce inaccessibile, e che nessuno degli uomini vide nè può vedere, al quale onore e impero sempiterno. Cosi sia.
17 Instruct the wealthy of this age not to have a superior attitude, nor to hope in the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God, who offers us everything in abundance to enjoy,	17 Ai ricchi di questo secolo raccomanda di non essere alteri d'animo e di non porre la speranza nelle instabili ricchezze, ma in Dio vivo, che ci dà in abbondanza ogni cosa, perchè ne godiamo,
18 and to do good, to become rich in good works, to donate readily, to share,	18 di fare del bene, di diventare ricchi di buone opere, d'esser facili a dare e a far parte dei loro beni,
19 to gather for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may obtain true life.	19 in modo da accumularsi un bel tesoro per l'avvenire o così conquistare la vita eterna.
20 O Timothy, guard what has been deposited with you, avoiding the voice of profane novelties and of opposing ideas, which are falsely called knowledge.	20 O Timoteo, custodisci il deposito, evitando le profane novità di parole e le contraddizioni di una falsa scienza,
21 Certain persons, promising these things, have perished from the faith. May grace be with you. Amen.	21 per far pompa della quale alcuni hanno abbandonata la fede. La grazia sia con te. Così sia.
