2 Thessalonians 2

1 But we ask you, brothers, concerning the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ and of our gathering to him,	1 Or riguardo alla venuta del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo e alla nostra adunata per muovergli incontro, vi preghiamo, o fratelli,
2 that you not be readily disturbed or terrified in your minds, by any spirit, or word, or epistle, supposedly sent from us, claiming that the day of the Lord is close by.	2 di non lasciarvi cosi presto smuovere dai vostri sentimenti nè atterrire da spirito, o da discorso, o da lettera spacciata per nostra, per l'idea che sia imminente il giorno del Signore.
3 Let no one deceive you in any way. For this cannot be, unless the apostasy will have arrived first, and the man of sin will have been revealed, the son of perdition,	3 Che nessuno v'inganni in alcun modo, poiché quel giorno non verrà se prima non sia avvenuta l'apostasia e non si sia manifestato l'uomo del peccato, il figlio della perdizione,
4 who is an adversary to, and who is lifted up above, all that is called God or that is worshipped, so much so that he sits in the temple of God, presenting himself as if he were God.	4 l'avversario che s'innalza sopra tutto, quello che dicesi Dio, od è oggetto di venerazione, fino ad assidersi nel tempio di Dio e presentar se stesso come Dio.
5 Do you not recall that, when I was still with you, I told you these things?	5 Non vi ricordate come, quando ero ancor presso di voi, vi dicevo queste cose?
6 And now you know what it is that holds him back, so that he may be revealed in his own time.	6 E voi ben sapete chi or lo trattiene, perchè non si manifesti che a suo tempo.
7 For the mystery of iniquity is already at work. And only one now holds back, and will continue to hold back, until he is taken from our midst.	7 Già il mistero dell'iniquità è in azione, solamente v'è chi lo trattiene ora, e lo tratterrà finché non sia tolto di mezzo.
8 And then that iniquitous one shall be revealed, the one whom the Lord Jesus shall bring to ruin with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy at the brightness of his return:	8 E allora sarà manifestato l'empio, che il Signore Gesù ucciderà col fiato della sua bocca e annienterà collo splendore della sua venuta.
9 him whose advent is accompanied by the works of Satan, with every kind of power and signs and false miracles,	9 Cotesto empio verrà per opera di Satana con ogni sorta di opere potenti, di segni e di prodigi bugiardi,
10 and with every seduction of iniquity, toward those who are perishing because they have not accepted the love of truth, so that they may be saved. For this reason, God will send to them works of deception, so that they may believe in lies,	10 e con tutte le seduzioni che ha l'iniquità per quelli che si perdono, perchè non hanno avuto l'amore della verità che li avrebbe salvati. E perciò Dio manderà loro si potenti inganni che essi credano alla menzogna;
11 in order that all those who have not believed in the truth, but who have consented to iniquity, may be judged.	11 ed avvenga che sian condannati tutti coloro che non han creduto alla verità, ma si sono compiaciuti dell'iniquità.
12 Yet we must always give thanks to God for you, brothers, beloved of God, because God has chosen you as first-fruits for salvation, by the sanctification of the Spirit and by faith in the truth.	12 Ma noi sentiamo il dovere di rendere continuamente grazie a Dio per voi, o fratelli da Dio amati, perchè Dio v'ha eletti come primizia per salvarvi mediante la santificazione dello spirito e la fede della verità;
13 He has also called you into truth through our Gospel, unto the acquisition of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.	13 alla quale vi ha chiamati per mezzo del nostro Vangelo, per farvi acquistare la gloria del nostro Signor Gesù Cristo.
14 And so, brothers, stand firm, and hold to the traditions that you have learned, whether by word or by our epistle.	14 State dunque saldi, o fratelli, e conservate le tradizioni che avete imparate dalle nostre parole e dalla nostra lettera.
15 So may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who has loved us and who has given us an everlasting consolation and good hope in grace,	15 E lo stesso Signor Nostro Gesù Cristo e Dio, Padre nostro, che ci ha amati e ci ha data la consolazione eterna e una buona speranza nella grazia,
16 exhort your hearts and confirm you in every good word and deed.	16 consoli i vostri cuori e vi conforti in ogni opera e parola buona.
