Joshua 13

1 Joshua was old and advanced in age, and the Lord said to him: “You have grown old, and are aged, and a very wide land remains, which has not yet been divided by lot,	1 Or Josué était devenu vieux et avancé en âge. Yahvé lui dit: "Te voilà vieux, avancé en âge, etpourtant il reste à prendre possession d'un très grand pays.
2 specifically, all of Galilee, Philistia, and all of Geshur;	2 Voici tout le pays qui reste: "Tous les districts des Philistins et tout le pays des Geshurites;
3 from the muddy river, which irrigates Egypt, as far as the border of Ekron toward the north, the land of Canaan, which is divided among the rulers of Philistia: the Gazites, and the Ashdodites, the Ashkelonites, the Gathites, and the Ekronites;	3 depuis le Shihor qui fait face à l'Egypte jusqu'à la frontière d'Eqrôn au nord, c'est compté commecananéen. Les cinq princes des Philistins sont celui de Gaza, celui d'Ashdod, celui d'Ashqelôn, celui de Gat etcelui d'Eqrôn; les Avvites sont
4 truly, to the south are the Hivites, all the land of Canaan, and Mearah of the Sidonians, as far as Aphek and the borders of the Amorite	4 au midi. Tout le pays des Cananéens, et Mearah qui est aux Sidoniens, jusqu'à Aphéqa et jusqu'à lafrontière des Amorites;
5 and his confines; also, the region of Lebanon toward the east, from Baalgad, under mount Hermon, until you enter into Hamath;	5 puis le pays du Giblite avec tout le Liban à l'orient, depuis Baal-Gad au pied du mont Hermonjusqu'à l'Entrée de Hamat.
6 all who live in the mountains from Lebanon, as far as the waters of Misrephoth, and all the Sidonians. I am the One who will wipe them out, before the face of the sons of Israel. Therefore, let their land become a part of the inheritance of Israel, just as I have instructed you.	6 "Tous les habitants de la montagne depuis le Liban jusqu'à Misrephot à l'occident, tous les Sidoniens,c'est moi qui les déposséderai devant les Israélites. Tu n'as qu'à distribuer le pays en héritage aux Israélitescomme je te l'ai ordonné.
7 And now, divide the land as a possession to the nine tribes, and to the one half tribe of Manasseh.”	7 Le moment est venu de partager ce pays en héritage entre les neuf tribus et la demi-tribu de Manassé:depuis le Jourdain jusqu'à la Grande mer à l'occident, tu le leur donneras; la Grande mer sera leur limite.
8 With them, Reuben and Gad have possessed the land, which Moses, the servant of the Lord, delivered to them beyond the river Jordan, on the eastern side:	8 Quant à l'autre demi-tribu de Manassé, elle avait, avec les Rubénites et les Gadites, déjà reçu sonhéritage, celui que Moïse leur avait donné au-delà du Jourdain, à l'orient, comme Moïse, serviteur de Yahvé, leleur avait alors donné:
9 from Aroer, which is situated on the bank of the torrent Arnon and in the midst of the valley, and all the plains of Medeba, as far as Dibon;	9 à partir d'Aroër qui est sur le bord de la vallée de l'Arnon, avec la ville qui est au fond de la vallée ettout le plateau depuis Médba jusqu'à Dibôn;
10 and all the cities of Sihon, the king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, even to the borders of the sons of Ammon;	10 toutes les villes de Sihôn, roi des Amorites, qui avait régné à Heshbôn, jusqu'à la frontière desAmmonites.
11 and Gilead, as well as the borders of Geshur and Maacati, and all of mount Hermon, and all of Bashan, as far as Salecah;	11 Puis le Galaad et le territoire des Geshurites et des Maakatites, avec tout le massif de l'Hermon et leBashân en entier, jusqu'à Salka;
12 the entire kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned at Ashtaroth and Edrei, (he was among the last of the Rephaim). And Moses struck and destroyed them.	12 et dans le Bashân, tout le royaume de Og qui avait régné à Ashtarot et à Edréï, et fut le derniersurvivant des Rephaïm. Moïse avait vaincu et dépossédé ces deux rois.
13 And the sons of Israel were not willing to destroy Geshur and Maacati, and so they have lived in the midst of Israel, even to the present day.	13 Mais les Israélites ne dépossédèrent pas les Geshurites ni les Maakatites, aussi Geshur et Maakasont-ils encore aujourd'hui au milieu d'Israël.
14 But to the tribe of Levi, he did not give a possession. Instead, the sacrifices and victims of the Lord, the God of Israel, these are his inheritance, just as he spoke to him.	14 La tribu de Lévi fut la seule à laquelle on ne donna pas d'héritage: Yahvé, Dieu d'Israël, fut sonhéritage, comme il le lui avait dit.
15 Therefore, Moses gave a possession to the tribe of the sons of Reuben, according to their families.	15 Moïse avait donné à la tribu des fils de Ruben une part selon leurs clans.
16 And their border was from Aroer, which is situated on the bank of the torrent Arnon, and in the midst of the valley of the same torrent, with all the flatlands that lead to Medeba;	16 Ils eurent donc pour territoire depuis Aroër qui est sur le bord de la vallée, avec la ville qui est aufond de la vallée, tout le plateau jusqu'à Médba,
17 and Heshbon, and all their villages, which are in the plains; also Dibon, and Bamothbaal, and the town of Baalmeon,	17 Heshbôn avec toutes les villes qui sont sur le plateau: Dibôn, Bamot-Baal, Bet-Baal-Meôn,
18 and Jahaz, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath,	18 Yahaç, Qedémot, Méphaat,
19 and Kiriathaim, and Sibmah, and Zereth-shahar on the mountain of the steep valley;	19 Qiryatayim, Sibma et, dans la montagne de la Araba, Cérèt-ha-Shahar;
20 Bethpeor, and the descending slopes of Pisgah, and Beth-jeshimoth;	20 Bet-Péor, les pentes arrosées du Pisga, Bet-ha-Yeshimot,
21 and all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdoms of Sihon, the king of the Amorites, who reigned at Heshbon, whom Moses struck down with the leaders of Midian: Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, the commanders of Sihon, inhabitants of the land.	21 toutes les villes du plateau et tout le royaume de Sihôn, roi des Amorites, qui régna à Heshbôn; ilavait été battu par Moïse ainsi que les princes de Madiân, Evi, Réqem, Cur, Hur, Réba, vassaux de Sihôn quihabitaient le pays.
22 And the sons of Israel killed Balaam, the son of Beor, the seer, with the sword, along with the others who were slain.	22 Quant à Balaam, fils de Béor, le devin, les Israélites l'avaient passé au fil de l'épée, avec ceux qu'ilsavaient tués.
23 And the river Jordan was made the border of the sons of Reuben; this is the possession of the Reubenites, by their families, in cities and villages.	23 Ainsi la frontière des Rubénites était le Jourdain et son territoire. Tel fut l'héritage des fils de Rubenselon leurs clans, avec les villes et leurs villages.
24 And Moses gave to the tribe of Gad and his sons, by their families, a possession, of which this is the division:	24 Moïse avait donné à la tribu de Gad, aux fils de Gad, une part selon leurs clans.
25 the border of Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and one half part of the land of the sons of Ammon, as far as Aroer, which is opposite Rabbah;	25 Ils eurent pour territoire Yazèr, toutes les villes de Galaad, la moitié du pays des Ammonites jusqu'àAroër qui est en face de Rabba,
26 and from Heshbon as far as Ramath, Mizpeh, and Betonim; and from Mahanaim as far as the borders of Debir;	26 et depuis Heshbôn jusqu'à Ramat-ha-Miçpé et Betonim; à partir de Mahanayim jusqu'au territoirede Lo-Debar,
27 also, in the valley Beth-haram and Beth-nimrah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the remaining part of the kingdom of Sihon, the king of Heshbon; the limit of this also is the Jordan, as far as the furthest part of the sea of Chinnereth, beyond the Jordan on the eastern side.	27 et dans la vallée: Bet-Haram, Bet-Nimra, Sukkot, Caphôn -- le reste du royaume de Sihôn, roid'Heshbôn --, le Jourdain et le territoire allant jusqu'à l'extrémité de la mer de Kinnérèt, au-delà du Jourdain, àl'orient.
28 This is the possession of the sons of Gad, by their families, in their cities and villages.	28 Tel fut l'héritage des fils de Gad, selon leurs clans, avec leurs villes et leurs villages.
29 He also gave, to the one half tribe of Manasseh and to his sons, a possession according to their families,	29 Moïse avait donné à la demi-tribu de Manassé une part selon leurs clans.
30 the beginning of which is this: from Mahanaim, all of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Og, the king of Bashan, and all the villages of Jair, which are in Bashan, sixty towns;	30 Ils eurent pour territoire à partir de Mahanayim tout le Bashân, tout le royaume de Og, roi duBashân, tous les Douars de Yaïr en Bashân, soit 60 villes.
31 and one half part of Gilead, and Ashtaroth, and Edrei, the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, to the sons of Machir, the son of Manasseh, to one half part of the sons of Machir, according to their families.	31 La moitié de Galaad ainsi qu'Ashtarot et Edréï, villes royales de Og en Bashân, passèrent aux fils deMakir, fils de Manassé, à la moitié des fils de Makir selon leurs clans.
32 Moses divided this possession, in the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan, opposite Jericho on the eastern side.	32 Voici ce que Moïse avait donné en héritage dans les Steppes de Moab, au-delà du Jourdain, en facede Jéricho à l'orient.
33 But to the tribe of Levi he did not give a possession. For the Lord, the God of Israel, is himself their possession, just as he spoke to him.	33 Mais à la tribu de Lévi, Moïse n'avait pas donné d'héritage: c'est Yahvé, le Dieu d'Israël, qui est sonhéritage, comme il le lui a dit.
