2 Corinthians 4

1 Therefore, since we have this ministry, and in as much as we have obtained mercy for ourselves, we are not inadequate.	1 Perciò, investiti di questo ministero per la misericordia che ci è stata usata, non ci perdiamo d'animo;
2 For we renounce dishonorable and hidden acts, not walking by craftiness, nor by adulterating the Word of God. Instead, by the manifestation of truth, we commend ourselves to the conscience of each man before God.	2 al contrario, rifiutando le dissimulazioni vergognose, senza comportarci con astuzia né falsificando la parola di Dio, ma annunziando apertamente la verità, ci presentiamo davanti a ogni coscienza, al cospetto di Dio.
3 But if our Gospel is in some way hidden, it is hidden to those who are perishing.	3 E se il nostro vangelo rimane velato, lo è per coloro che si perdono,
4 As for them, the god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, would not shine in them.	4 ai quali il dio di questo mondo ha accecato la mente incredula, perché non vedano lo splendore del glorioso vangelo di Cristo che è immagine di Dio.
5 For we are not preaching about ourselves, but about Jesus Christ our Lord. We are merely your servants through Jesus.	5 Noi infatti non predichiamo noi stessi, ma Cristo Gesù Signore; quanto a noi, siamo i vostri servitori per amore di Gesù.
6 For God, who told the light to shine out of darkness, has shined a light into our hearts, to illuminate the knowledge of the splendor of God, in the person of Christ Jesus.	6 E Dio che disse: 'Rifulga la luce dalle tenebre', rifulse nei nostri cuori, per far risplendere la conoscenza della gloria divina che rifulge sul volto di Cristo.
7 But we hold this treasure in earthen vessels, so that what is sublime may be of the power of God, and not of us.	7 Però noi abbiamo questo tesoro in vasi di creta, perché appaia che questa potenza straordinaria viene da Dio e non da noi.
8 In all things, we endure tribulation, yet we are not in anguish. We are constrained, yet we are not destitute.	8 Siamo infatti tribolati da ogni parte, ma non schiacciati; siamo sconvolti, ma non disperati;
9 We suffer persecution, yet we have not been abandoned. We are thrown down, yet we do not perish.	9 perseguitati, ma non abbandonati; colpiti, ma non uccisi,
10 We ever carry around the mortification of Jesus in our bodies, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.	10 portando sempre e dovunque nel nostro corpo la morte di Gesù, perché anche la vita di Gesù si manifesti nel nostro corpo.
11 For we who live are ever handed over unto death for the sake of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our mortal flesh.	11 Sempre infatti, noi che siamo vivi, veniamo esposti alla morte a causa di Gesù, perché anche la vita di Gesù sia manifesta nella nostra carne mortale.
12 Therefore, death is at work in us, and life is at work in you.	12 Di modo che in noi opera la morte, ma in voi la vita.
13 But we have the same Spirit of faith. And just as it is written, “I believed, and for that reason I spoke,” so we also believe, and for that reason, we also speak.	13 Animati tuttavia da quello stesso spirito di fede di cui sta scritto: 'Ho creduto, perciò ho parlato', anche noi crediamo e perciò parliamo,
14 For we know that the One who raised up Jesus will raise us up also with Jesus and will place us with you.	14 convinti che colui che ha risuscitato il Signore Gesù, risusciterà anche noi con Gesù e ci porrà accanto a lui insieme con voi.
15 Thus, all is for you, so that grace, abounding through many in thanksgiving, may abound to the glory of God.	15 Tutto infatti è per voi, perché la grazia, ancora più abbondante ad opera di un maggior numero, moltiplichi l'inno di lode alla gloria di Dio.
16 For this reason, we are not insufficient. But it is as though our outer man is corrupted, while our inner man is renewed from day to day.	16 Per questo non ci scoraggiamo, ma se anche il nostro uomo esteriore si va disfacendo, quello interiore si rinnova di giorno in giorno.
17 For though our tribulation is, at the present time, brief and light, it accomplishes in us the weight of a sublime eternal glory, beyond measure.	17 Infatti il momentaneo, leggero peso della nostra tribolazione, ci procura una quantità smisurata ed eterna di gloria,
18 And we are contemplating, not the things that are seen, but the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are temporal, whereas the things that are not seen are eternal.	18 perché noi non fissiamo lo sguardo sulle cose visibili, ma su quelle invisibili. Le cose visibili sono d'un momento, quelle invisibili sono eterne.
