Deuteronomy 14

1 “Be sons of the Lord your God. You shall not cut yourselves, nor make yourselves bald, because of the dead.	1 Hijos sois de Yahveh vuestro Dios. No os haréis incisión ni tonsura entre los ojos por un muerto.
2 For you are a holy people, for the Lord your God. And he chose you, so that you may be a people particularly his, out of all the nations on earth.	2 Porque tú eres un pueblo consagrado a Yahveh tu Dios, y Yahveh te ha escogido para que seas el pueblo de su propiedad personal entre todos los pueblos que hay sobre la haz de la tierra.
3 You shall not eat the things that are unclean.	3 No comerás nada que sea abominable.
4 These are the animals which you ought to eat: the ox, and the sheep, and the goat,	4 Estos son los animales que podréis comer: buey, carnero, cabra,
5 the stag and the roe deer, the gazelle, the wild goat, the addax, the antelope, the giraffe.	5 ciervo, gacela, gamo, cabra montés, antílope, búfalo, gamuza.
6 Every beast which has a hoof divided into two parts and which also chews the cud, you shall eat.	6 Y todo animal de pezuña partida, hendida en dos mitades, y que rumia, lo podéis comer.
7 But those which chew over again, but do not have a divided hoof, you must not eat, such as the camel, the hare, and the hyrax. Since these chew the cud, but do not have a divided the hoof, they shall be unclean to you.	7 Sin embargo, entre los que rumian y entre los animales de pezuña partida y hendida no podréis comer los siguientes: el camello, la liebre y el damán, que rumian pero no tienen la pezuña hendida; los tendréis por impuros.
8 The pig also, since it has a divided hoof, but does not chew over again, shall be unclean. Their flesh shall not be eaten, and you shall not touch their carcasses.	8 Tampoco el cerdo, que tiene la pezuña partida y hendida, pero no rumia; lo tendréis por impuro. No comeréis su carne ni tocaréis su cadáver.
9 These you shall eat out of all that dwells in the waters: whatever has fins and scales, you shall eat.	9 De entre todo lo que vive en el agua, podéis comer lo siguiente: todo lo que tiene aletas y escamas lo podéis comer.
10 Whatever is without fins and scales, you shall not eat, for these are unclean.	10 Pero no comeréis lo que no tiene aletas y escamas: lo tendréis por impuro.
11 All the clean birds, you shall eat.	11 Podéis comer toda ave pura,
12 You shall not eat those that are unclean: such as the eagle, and the griffin, and the osprey,	12 pero las siguientes no las podéis comer: el águila, el quebrantahuesos, el águila marina,
13 the crane, and the vulture, and the kite, according to their kind,	13 el buitre, las diferentes especies de halcón,
14 and any kind of raven,	14 todas las especies de cuervo,
15 and the ostrich, and the owl, and the gull, and the hawk, according to their kind,	15 el avestruz, la lechuza, la gaviota y las diferentes especies de gavilanes,
16 the heron, and the swan, and the ibis,	16 el búho, el ibis, el cisne,
17 and the sea bird, the marsh hen, and the night raven,	17 el pelícano, el calamón, el somormujo,
18 the pelican and the plover, each in their kind, likewise the crested hoopoe and the bat.	18 la cigüeña, las diferentes especies de garza real, la abubilla y el murciélago.
19 And anything which crawls and also has little wings shall be unclean, and shall not be eaten.	19 Tendréis por impuro todo bicho alado, no lo comeréis.
20 All that is clean, you shall eat.	20 Podéis comer todo volátil puro.
21 But whatever has died of itself, you shall not eat from it. Give it to the sojourner, who is within your gates, so that he may eat, or sell it to him. For you are the holy people of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in the milk of his mother.	21 No comeréis ninguna bestia muerta. Se la darás al forastero que vive en tus ciudades para que él la coma, o bien véndesela a un extranjero. Porque tú eres un pueblo consagrado a Yahveh tu Dios. No cocerás el cabrito en la leche de su madre.
22 Each year, you shall separate the tithes out of all your crops which spring forth from the earth.	22 Cada año deberás apartar el diezmo de todo lo que tus sementeras hayan producido en tus campos,
23 And you shall eat these in the sight of the Lord your God, in the place which he will choose, so that his name may be invoked there: the tenth part of your grain and wine and oil, and the firstborn from the herds and your sheep. So may you learn to fear the Lord your God at all times.	23 y, en presencia de Yahveh tu Dios, en el lugar que él haya elegido para morada de su nombre, comerás el diezmo de tu trigo, de tu mosto y de tu aceite, así como los primogénitos de tu ganado mayor y menor; a fin de que aprendas a temer siempre a Yahveh tu Dios.
24 But when the way and the place which the Lord your God will have chosen is further away, and he will have blessed you, so that you are not able to carry all these things to it,	24 Si el camino es demasiado largo para ti, si no puedes transportarlo porque el lugar elegido por Yahveh para morada de su nombre te cae demasiado lejos, cuando Yahveh tu Dios te haya bendecido,
25 you shall sell them all, so as to turn them into money, and you shall carry it in your hand, and you shall set out for the place which the Lord will choose.	25 lo cambiarás por dinero, llevarás el dinero en tu mano e irás al lugar elegido por Yahveh tu Dios;
26 And you shall buy with the same money whatever pleases you, either from the herds or from the sheep, and also wine and liquor, and all that your soul desires. And you shall eat in the sight of the Lord your God, and you shall feast: you and your household.	26 allí emplearás este dinero en todo lo que desees, ganado mayor o menor, vino o bebida fermentada, todo lo que tu alma apetezca. Comerás allí en presencia de Yahveh tu Dios y te regocijarás, tú y tu casa.
27 As for the Levite, who is within your gates, take care that you do not abandon him, for he has no other portion within your possession.	27 Y no abandonarás al levita que vive en tus ciudades, ya que él no tiene parte ni heredad contigo.
28 In the third year, you shall separate another tenth part of all the things which spring forth for you at that time, and you shall store it within your gates.	28 Cada tres años apartarás todos los diezmos de tus cosechas de ese año y los depositarás a tus puertas.
29 And the Levite, who has no other portion or possession with you, and the sojourner as well as the orphan and the widow who are within your gates, shall approach and eat and be satisfied, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the works of your hands which you shall do.”	29 Vendrán así el levita - ya que él no tiene parte ni heredad contigo - el forastero, el huérfano y la viuda que viven en tus ciudades, y comerán hasta hartarse. Y Yahveh tu Dios te bendecirá en todas las obras que emprendas.
