1 And he also said to his disciples: “A certain man was wealthy, and he had a steward of his estate. And this man was accused to him of having dissipated his goods.	1 Diceva anche ai discepoli: "Un uomo ricco aveva un amministratore, e questi fu accusato dinanzi a lui di aver dissipato i suoi beni.
2 And he called him and said to him: ‘What is this that I hear about you? Give an account of your stewardship. For you can no longer be my steward.’	2 Il padrone lo chiamò e gli disse: "E' vero quello che sento dire di te? Rendi conto della tua amministrazione, perché da questo momento non potrai più amministrare".
3 And the steward said within himself: ‘What shall I do? For my lord is taking the stewardship away from me. I am not strong enough to dig. I am too ashamed to beg.	3 L'amministratore disse fra sé: "Che cosa farò ora che il mio padrone mi ha tolto l'amministrazione? Non ho forza per zappare e a chiedere l'elemosina mi vergogno.
4 I know what I will do so that, when I have been removed from the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.’	4 So io che farò, perché quando mi sarà tolta l'amministrazione mi accolgano nelle loro case".
5 And so, calling together each one of his lord’s debtors, he said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my lord?’	5 Chiamò ad uno ad uno quelli che avevano debiti con il suo padrone e disse al primo:
6 So he said, ‘One hundred jars of oil.’ And he said to him, ‘Take your invoice, and quickly, sit down and write fifty.’	6 "Tu quanto devi al mio padrone?". Quello rispose: "Cento barili di olio". Gli disse: "Prendi il tuo foglio, siediti e scrivi cinquanta".
7 Next, he said to another, ‘In truth, how much do you owe?’ And he said, ‘One hundred measures of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your record books, and write eighty.’	7 Poi disse ad un altro: "E tu quanto devi?". Quello rispose: "Cento misure di grano". Gli disse: "Prendi il tuo foglio e scrivi ottanta".
8 And the lord praised the iniquitous steward, in that he had acted prudently. For the sons of this age are more prudent with their generation than are the sons of light.	8 Il padrone lodò quell'amministratore disonesto, perché aveva agito con scaltrezza. Infatti i figli di questo mondo, nei loro rapporti con gli altri, sono più astuti dei figli della luce".
9 And so I say to you, make friends for yourself using iniquitous mammon, so that, when you will have passed away, they may receive you into the eternal tabernacles.	9 "E io vi dico: fatevi degli amici con la ricchezza ingiusta, perché quando essa verrà a mancare vi accolgano nelle tende eterne.
10 Whoever is faithful in what is least, is also faithful in what is greater. And whoever is unjust in what is small, is also unjust in what is greater.	10 Chi è fedele in cosa di poco conto, è fedele anche in cosa importante; e chi è disonesto nelle piccole cose, è disonesto anche in quelle importanti.
11 So then, if you have not been faithful with iniquitous mammon, who will trust you with what is true?	11 Perciò, se non siete stati fedeli nella ricchezza ingiusta, chi vi affiderà quella vera?
12 And if you have not been faithful with what belongs to another, who will give you what is yours?	12 E se non siete stati fedeli nella ricchezza altrui, chi vi darà la vostra?
13 No servant is able to serve two lords. For either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will cling to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”	13 Nessun servo può servire a due padroni: o odierà l'uno e amerà l'altro, oppure preferirà l'uno e disprezzerà l'altro. Non potete servire Dio e mammona".
14 But the Pharisees, who were greedy, were listening to all these things. And they ridiculed him.	14 Ora i farisei, che erano amanti del denaro, stavano ad ascoltare tutte queste cose e lo deridevano.
15 And he said to them: “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the sight of men. But God knows your hearts. For what is lifted up by men is an abomination in the sight of God.	15 Ed egli disse loro: "Voi siete coloro che si mostrano giusti davanti agli uomini, ma Dio conosce i vostri cuori. Infatti ciò che gli uomini apprezzano molto, Dio lo considera senza valore".
16 The law and the prophets were until John. Since then, the kingdom of God is being evangelized, and everyone acts with violence toward it.	16 "La legge e i profeti arrivano fino a Giovanni; da allora in poi il regno di Dio viene annunziato ed ognuno fa di tutto per entrarci.
17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one dot of the law to fall away.	17 E' più facile che finiscano il cielo e la terra piuttosto che cada una sola parola della legge, anche la più piccola.
18 Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery. And whoever marries her who has been divorced by her husband commits adultery.	18 Chiunque ripudia la propria moglie e ne sposa un'altra, commette adulterio; e chi sposa una donna ripudiata dal marito, commette adulterio".
19 A certain man was wealthy, and he was clothed in purple and in fine linen. And he feasted splendidly every day.	19 "C'era un uomo ricco, che portava vesti di porpora e di bisso e faceva festa ogni giorno con grandi banchetti.
20 And there was a certain beggar, named Lazarus, who lay at his gate, covered with sores,	20 Un povero, di nome Lazzaro, sedeva alla sua porta a mendicare, tutto coperto di piaghe,
21 wanting to be filled with the crumbs which were falling from the wealthy man’s table. But no one gave it to him. And even the dogs came and licked his sores.	21 bramoso di sfamarsi con gli avanzi che cadevano dalla mensa del ricco. Perfino i cani venivano a leccare le sue piaghe.
22 Then it happened that the beggar died, and he was carried by the Angels into the bosom of Abraham. Now the wealthy man also died, and he was entombed in Hell.	22 Un giorno il povero morì e fu portato dagli angeli nel seno di Abramo. Poi morì anche il ricco e fu sepolto.
23 Then lifting up his eyes, while he was in torments, he saw Abraham far away, and Lazarus in his bosom.	23 Finito negli inferi tra i tormenti, alzando lo sguardo verso l'alto, vide da lontano Abramo e Lazzaro che era con lui.
24 And crying out, he said: ‘Father Abraham, take pity on me and send Lazarus, so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water to refresh my tongue. For I am tortured in this fire.’	24 Allora gridò: "Padre Abramo, abbi pietà di me e manda Lazzaro a intingere nell'acqua la punta del dito e a bagnarmi la lingua, perché soffro terribilmente in questa fiamma".
25 And Abraham said to him: ‘Son, recall that you received good things in your life, and in comparison, Lazarus received bad things. But now he is consoled, and truly you are tormented.	25 Ma Abramo rispose: "Figlio, ricòrdati che hai ricevuto la tua parte di beni durante la tua vita, e Lazzaro parimenti le sofferenze. Ma adesso lui è consolato, tu invece sei tormentato.
26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chaos has been established, so that those who might want to cross from here to you are not able, nor can someone cross from there to here.’	26 Per di più, tra noi e voi c'è un grande abisso; se qualcuno di noi vuol passare da voi, non lo può fare; così pure nessuno di voi può venire da noi".
27 And he said: ‘Then, father, I beg you to send him to my father’s house, for I have five brothers,	27 E quello disse: "Allora, padre, ti supplico di mandarlo a casa di mio padre.
28 so that he may testify to them, lest they also come into this place of torments.’	28 Ho cinque fratelli e vorrei che li ammonisca a non venire anch'essi in questo luogo di tormento".
29 And Abraham said to him: ‘They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.’	29 Abramo rispose: "Hanno Mosè e i profeti: li ascoltino!".
30 So he said: ‘No, father Abraham. But if someone were to go to them from the dead, they would repent.’	30 Quello replicò: "No, padre Abramo; ma se qualcuno dai morti andrà da loro, cambieranno modo di vivere".
31 But he said to him: ‘If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they believe even if someone has resurrected from the dead.’ ”	31 Abramo disse: "Se non ascoltano Mosè e i profeti, non si lasceranno convincere neppure se qualcuno risorge dai morti".
