Zechariah 8

1 And the word of the Lord of hosts came, saying:	1 E fu fatta la parola di Dio (a me), e disse:
2 Thus says the Lord of hosts: I have been zealous for Zion with a great zeal, and with a great indignation have I been zealous for her.	2 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: io hoe amato Sion con grande amore, e ora l'hoe amata con grande indegnamento.
3 Thus says the Lord of hosts: I have been turned back towards Zion, and I will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And Jerusalem will be called: “The City of Truth,” and “The Mountain of the Lord of Hosts, the Sanctified Mountain.”	3 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: io sono ritornato a Sion, e abiterò nel mezzo di Ierusalem; e Ierusalem sarà chiamata Città di verità; e il monte (della casa) del Signore delli esèrciti (sarà lo) Monte santificato.
4 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Then elderly men and elderly women will dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man will be with his walking stick in his hand, because of the multitude of days.	4 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: ancora abiteranno li vecchi, e l'uomo pieno d' anni nelle piazze di Ierusalem; e li uomini staranno colli bastoncelli in mano per la moltitudine delli dì.
5 And the streets of the city will be filled with toddlers and children, playing in its streets.	5 E le piazze della città saranno ripiene di fanciulli e di fanciulle, e trastullerannosi nelle sue piazze.
6 Thus says the Lord of hosts: If it seems difficult in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, could it indeed be difficult in my eyes, says the Lord of hosts?	6 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: se parrà che sia malagevole nelli occhi delli antichi di questo popolo in quel tempo, or (non) sarà malagevole a me, [dice lo Signore delli eserciti]?
7 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will save my people from the land of the East, and from the land of the setting of the sun.	7 [Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti]: ecco, io salverò lo mio popolo della terra d'oriente, e della terra di ponente.
8 And I will lead them, and they will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And they will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in justice.	8 E menorolli, e abiteranno nel mezzo di Ierusalem; e saranno a me in popolo, e io sarò a loro. Iddio, nella veritade e nella giustizia.
9 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Let your hands be strengthened, you who, in those days, are listening to these words by the mouth of the prophets, in the day that the house of the Lord of hosts has been founded, so that the temple may be built.	9 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: sieno confortate le vostre mani di voi, i quali udite in questi di queste parole per la bocca de' profeti, nel dì che fu fondata la casa del Signore delli esèrciti, acciò che lo tempio fusse edificato.
10 Indeed, before those days, there was no pay for men, nor was there pay for beasts of burden, and neither was there peace for those entering, nor for those exiting, because of the tribulation. And I had dismissed all men, each one against his neighbor.	10 E inanzi a quelli dì non aveano li uomini merito, e non era prezzo di bestiame; e niuno che entrasse e che uscisse avea pace per la tribulazione; e lasciai tutti li uomini, ciascuno contra il suo prossimo.
11 But now, I will not act towards the remnant of this people according to the former days, says the Lord of hosts.	11 Ma ora io non farò secondo li dì che sono andati, alli rimanenti di questo popolo, dice lo Signore delli eserciti.
12 But there will be a seed of peace: the vine will give her fruit, and the earth will give her seedlings, and the heavens will give their dew. And I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.	12 Ma sarà seme di pace; la vigna darà il suo frutto, e la terra darà li suoi germogli, e li cieli daranno la loro rugiada; e farò che li rimanenti di questo popolo possederanno tutte queste cose.
13 And this shall be: just as you were a curse among the Gentiles, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid. Let your hands be strengthened.	13 E sarete; come eravate la maledizione nelle [genti, la] terra di Giuda, e la casa d' Israel, così salverò voi, e sarete benedizione; non temete; confortate le vostre mani.
14 For thus says the Lord of hosts: Just as I intended to afflict you, when your fathers had provoked me to wrath, says the Lord,	14 Però che questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: com' io pensai d' affliggere voi, conciosia cosa che li vostri padri provocassono me ad ira,
15 and I did not show mercy, so have I turned back, thinking in these days to do good to the house of Judah and to Jerusalem. Do not be afraid.	15 e io non ebbi misericordia; così convertito io pensai in questi dì di far bene a Ierusalem e alla casa di Giuda; non temete.
16 Therefore, these are the words that you shall do: Speak the truth, each one to his neighbor. With truth and a judgment of peace, judge at your gates.	16 Queste sono le parole che voi farete; parli ciascuno verità col suo prossimo; e giudicate la verità e il giudicio di pace nelle vostre porte.
17 And let not anyone think up evil against his friend in your hearts. And do not choose to swear falsely. For all these are things that I hate, says the Lord.	17 E niuno pensi male contro al suo prossimo nelli vostri cuori, e non amate lo giuramento bugiardo; però che tutte queste cose sono, le quali ho avuto in odio, dice lo Signore Iddio.
18 And the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying:	18 E fu fatta la parola del Signore delli esèrciti a me, e disse:
19 Thus says the Lord of hosts: The fast of the fourth, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth will be for the house of Judah in joy and gladness and with bright solemnities. So then, love truth and peace.	19 [Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti]: lo digiuno del quarto dì, e lo digiuno del V dì, e lo digiuno del VII dì, e lo digiuno del X dì sarà [al] la casa di Giuda in godimento e in allegrezza e in ispeciali solennitadi; ma pure amate la veritade e la pace.
20 Thus says the Lord of hosts, then the people may arrive and dwell in many cities,	20 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: perchè vengono li popoli, e àbitano in molte cittadi;
21 and the inhabitants may hurry, one saying to another: “Let us go and entreat the face of the Lord, and let us seek the Lord of hosts. I will go also.”	21 e vanno li abitatori l'uno all' altro, e dicono: andiamo, e preghiamo la faccia di Dio, e domandiamo lo Signore delli esèrciti; e anderovvi an ch' io.
22 And many peoples and strong nations will approach, seeking the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat the face of the Lord.	22 E verranno molti popoli, e le genti robuste, per addomandare lo Signore delli esèrciti in Ierusalem, e per pregare la faccia sua.
23 Thus says the Lord of hosts: In those days, then, ten men from every language of the Gentiles will grasp and cling to the hem of one man of Judea, saying: “We will go with you. For we have heard that God is with you.”	23 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: in quelli dì, ne' quali piglieranno X uomini di tutte le lingue delle genti, e piglieranno l'orlo dell' uomo Giudeo, e diranno: noi andremo con voi; però che udimmo che il Signore è con voi.
