Basan has been weakened, and also Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon has languished.	4 Egli sgrida il mare, e lo asciuga, e i fiumi tutti cangia in arida terra: rende sterile il Basan, e il Carmelo, e languiscono i fiori del Libano.
5 The mountains have trembled before him, and the hills have become desolate, and the earth has quaked before his face, both the world and all that dwells in it.	5 Per lui sono scosse le montagne, e le colline son desolate; dinanzi a lui trema la terra, e il mondo tutto, e tutti quei, che lo abitano.
6 Who can stand firm before the face of his indignation? And who can continue against the fury of his wrath? His indignation has broken out like a fire, and the rocks have been dissolved before him.	6 Chi sussister potrà all'apparir del suo sdegno? E chi potrà a lui resistere irato, e in furore? L'indegnazione di lui divampa qual fuoco, e da esso i massi sono squagliati.
7 The Lord is good, and a comforter in the day of tribulation, and he knows those who hope in him.	7 Buono il Signore, e consola nel giorno di tribolazione; e conosce quelli,che sperano in lui:
8 And in the flood that passes over, he brings to consummation the end of his place. And darkness shall pursue his adversaries.	8 Égli con impetuosa inondazione distruggerà la sede di lei, e i nemici di lui dalle tenebre saran perseguitati.
9 What are you thinking up against the Lord? He will accomplish the consummation. There shall not rise up a double tribulation.	9 Che andate voi macchinando contro il Signore? Egli farà fine: non verrà doppia tribolazione.
10 For just as thorns entwine one another, so also, while they are feasting and drinking together, they will be consumed like stubble that is completely dry.	10 Perocché costoro, che ne' conviti sbevazzano insieme, saran consunti come le spine, che tra loro s'intrecciano, e come aridissima paglia.
11 Out of you will go forth one who thinks up evil against the Lord, dragging betrayals through his mind.	11 Da te uscirà colui, che mal pensa contro il Signore, che ha in testa iniqui disegni.
12 Thus says the Lord: If they had been perfect, and many of them so, yet still they would be pruned, and it will cross through them. I have afflicted you, and I shall afflict you no more.	12 Queste cose dice il Signore: Quantunque ei siano fortissimi, e anche in maggior numero, contuttociò saranno recisi, e passeranno. Io ti ho afflitto, ma non ti affliggerò di più.
13 And now I will shatter his rod from your back, and I will break open your bonds.	13 E la verga di lui romperò infesta al tuo dorso, e spezzerò le tue catene.
14 And the Lord will place a commandment over you; nothing more from your name will be sown. From the house of your God, I will order destroyed the graven image and the molten image. I will prepare your grave, because you are not honorable.	14 Il Signore pronunzierà contro di te questa sentenza: non rimarrà più seme del tuo nome: sterminerò le statue, e gl'idoli di getto dalla casa del Dio tuo, e farolla tuo sepolcro, e tu sarai disprezzato.
15 Behold, over the mountains, the feet of the Evangelizer and the Announcer of peace. Judah, celebrate your festivals and keep your vows. For Belial will never again pass through you; he has completely passed away.	15 Ècco sui monti i piedi di colui, che annunzia la buona novella: annunzia la pace: celebra, o Giuda, le tue solennità, e sciogli i tuoi voti; perocché non passerà mai più Belial per le tue terre: egli è perito interamente.
