1 Now you will be devastated, you daughter of a robber. They have placed a blockade against us, with a rod they will strike the jaw of the judge of Israel.	1 - Ma per adesso sarai devastata, o figlia d'un popolo ladro; già hanno posto contro di noi l'assedio, e percoteranno colla verga la guancia del giudice d'Israele.
2 And you, Bethlehem Ephrata, are a little one among the thousands of Judah. From you will go forth he who shall be the ruler in Israel, and his landing place has been set from the beginning, from the days of eternity.	2 E tu, o Betleem Efrata, sei piccola tra le migliaia di Giuda; ma da te mi uscirà colui che sarà dominatore in Israele, e la sua origine è dal principio dei giorni dell'eternità.
3 Because of this, he will provide for them, even until the time in which she who bears him gives birth. 5 And this man will be our peace, when the Assyrian will come into our land, and when he will trample on our houses; and we will raise against him seven shepherds and eight principal men.	5 Quando l'Assiro vorrà entrare nel nostro paese e quando vorrà calcare le nostre dimore, noi faremo sorgere contro di lui sette pastori e otto uomini preclari;
6 And they will graze on the land of Assur with the sword, and the land of Nimrod with its spears; and he will free us from Assur, when he will come into our land, and when he will trample our borders.	6 e daranno la terra di Assur in pascolo della spada, e il paese di Nembrod in pascolo delle loro lance; egli ci scamperà da Assur quando vorrà venire nel nostro paese e mettere piede nei nostri confini.
7 And there will be a remnant of Jacob in the midst of many peoples, like a dew from the Lord and like drops upon the grass, which awaits no man and does not stand before the sons of men.	7 E i superstiti di Giacobbe in mezzo ai popoli numerosi saranno come rugiada che viene dal Signore, come stille sull'erba che non aspettano l'opera dell'uomo e non attendono l'intervento umano.
8 And there will be a remnant of Jacob within the Gentiles, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forests, and like a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who, when he will pass through and trample down and seize, there is none who can rescue.	8 E quelli di Giacobbe rimasti tra le genti saranno, in mezzo a molti popoli, come un leone tra le bestie della selva e come un leoncello in un gregge di pecore, che trascorre, assalta, azzanna senza alcuno che ritolga.
9 Your hand will be exalted over your enemies, and all your adversaries will pass away.	9 La tua mano si alzerà sopra i tuoi avversari e periranno tutti i tuoi nemici.
10 And it will be in that day, says the Lord: I will take away your horses from your midst, and I will utterly ruin your four-horse chariots.	10 - E avverrà in quel giorno, dice il Signore, che io toglierò via i cavalli che sono in mezzo a te e disperderò i tuoi carri;
11 And I will destroy the cities of your land, and I will pull down all your fortifications, and I will take away evil-doing from your hand, and there will be no divinations among you.	11 e rovinerò le città del tuo paese e demolirò tutte le tue fortezze; e strapperò dalle tue mani i tuoi incantesimi, e fattucchierie non vi saranno più in te.
12 And I will cause your graven images to perish, and your statues, from your midst. And you will no longer adore the works of your hands.	12 Manderò in frantumi tutti i tuoi simulacri e le statue che sono in mezzo a te, e non adorerai più le opere delle tue mani.
13 And I will root out your sacred groves from your midst, and I will crush your cities.	13 Estirperò di mezzo a te i tuoi boschi e abbatterò le tue città,
14 And I will exact vengeance, in fury and in indignation, among all the nations which have not listened.	14 e nella mia collera e nel mio sdegno farò vendetta di tutte le genti che non hanno dato ascolto. -
