1 Listen to this word, which I lift over you in lamentation. The house of Israel has fallen, and it will no longer rise again.	1 Hört dieses Wort, ihr vom Haus Israel, hört die Totenklage, die ich über euch anstimme:
2 The virgin of Israel has been thrown onto her land, there is no one who can raise her up.	2 Gefallen ist sie und steht nicht mehr auf, die Jungfrau Israel; sie liegt zerschmettert am Boden in ihrem Land und niemand richtet sie auf.
3 For thus says the Lord God: In the city from which a thousand departed, a hundred will remain, and in that from which a hundred departed, ten will remain, in the house of Israel.	3 Denn so spricht Gott, der Herr: In die Stadt, aus der tausend Männer auszogen, kehren nur hundert zurück, und wo hundert auszogen, kehren nur zehn zurück.
4 For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: Seek me and you will live.	4 Ja, so spricht der Herr zum Haus Israel: Sucht mich, dann werdet ihr leben.
5 But do not be willing to seek Bethel, and do not be willing to enter Gilgal, and you will not cross into Beer-sheba. For Gilgal will be led into captivity, and Bethel will be useless.	5 Doch sucht nicht Bet-El auf, geht nicht nach Gilgal, zieht nicht nach Beerscheba! Denn Gilgal droht die Verbannung und Bet-El der Untergang.
6 Seek the Lord and live. Otherwise, the house of Joseph may be destroyed with fire, and it will devour, and there will be no one who can extinguish Bethel.	6 Sucht den Herrn, dann werdet ihr leben. Sonst dringt er in das Haus Josef ein wie ein Feuer, das frisst, und niemand löscht Bet-Els Brand.
7 You turn judgment into wormwood, and you abandon justice on earth.	7 Weh denen, die das Recht in bitteren Wermut verwandeln und die Gerechtigkeit zu Boden schlagen.
8 The Maker of Arcturus and Orion, who turns darkness into daybreak and who changes day into night; who calls forth the waters of the sea and who pours them out over the face of the earth: The Lord is his name.	8 Er hat das Siebengestirn und den Orion erschaffen; er verwandelt die Finsternis in den hellen Morgen, er verdunkelt den Tag zur Nacht, er ruft das Wasser des Meeres und gießt es aus über die Erde - Jahwe ist sein Name.
9 It is he who smiles destruction on the healthy, and who brings pillaging upon the powerful.	9 Plötzlich wird er den Starken vernichten und über die befestigten Städte bricht die Vernichtung herein.
10 They held hatred for the one who corrects at the gate, and they have abhorred the one who speaks perfectly.	10 Bei Gericht hassen sie den, der zur Gerechtigkeit mahnt, und wer Wahres redet, den verabscheuen sie.
11 Therefore, on his behalf, because you have torn apart the poor and stolen choice prey from him: you will build houses with square stones and you will not dwell in them; you will plant the most delightful vineyards, and you will not drink wine from them.	11 Weil ihr von den Hilflosen Pachtgeld annehmt und ihr Getreide mit Steuern belegt, darum baut ihr Häuser aus behauenen Steinen - und wohnt nicht darin, legt ihr euch prächtige Weinberge an - und werdet den Wein nicht trinken.
12 For I know your many wicked deeds and the strength of your sins, you enemies of the just, accepting bribes, and depriving the poor at the gate.	12 Denn ich kenne eure vielen Vergehen und eure zahlreichen Sünden. Ihr bringt den Unschuldigen in Not, ihr lasst euch bestechen und weist den Armen ab bei Gericht.
13 Therefore, the prudent will be silent at that time, for it is an evil time.	13 Darum schweigt in dieser Zeit, wer klug ist; denn es ist eine böse Zeit.
14 Seek good and not evil, so that you may live. And the Lord God of hosts will be with you, just as you have asked.	14 Sucht das Gute, nicht das Böse; dann werdet ihr leben und dann wird, wie ihr sagt, der Herr, der Gott der Heere, bei euch sein.
15 Hate evil and love good, and establish judgment at the gate. Perhaps then the Lord God of hosts may have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.	15 Hasst das Böse, liebt das Gute und bringt bei Gericht das Recht zur Geltung! Vielleicht ist der Herr, der Gott der Heere, dem Rest Josefs dann gnädig.
16 Therefore, thus says the Lord God of hosts, the Sovereign: In all the streets, there will be wailing. And in every place where they are outdoors, they will say, “Woe, woe!” And they will call the farmer to mourn, and those who know mourning to lamentation.	16 Darum - so spricht der Herr, der Gott der Heere: Auf allen Plätzen herrscht Trauer und auf allen Gassen schreit man: Wehe! Wehe! Den Ackerknecht holt man zur Totenklage, den Kenner der Totenlieder ruft man zum Klagen.
17 And in all the vineyards there will be wailing. For I will cross through your midst, says the Lord.	17 In allen Weinbergen herrscht Trauer; denn ich schreite durch deine Mitte, spricht der Herr.
18 Woe to those who desire the day of the Lord. What is it to you? The day of the Lord is this: darkness and not light.	18 Weh denen, die den Tag des Herrn herbeisehnen. Was nützt euch denn der Tag des Herrn? Finsternis ist er, nicht Licht.
19 It is as if a man flees from the face of a lion, only to have a bear meet him; or, he enters a house and leans with his hand against the wall, only to have a snake bite him.	19 Es ist, wie wenn jemand einem Löwen entflieht und ihn dann ein Bär überfällt; kommt er nach Hause und stützt sich mit der Hand auf die Mauer, dann beißt ihn eine Schlange.
20 Will not the day of the Lord be darkness and not light, and gloom with no brightness in it?	20 Ja, Finsternis ist der Tag des Herrn, nicht Licht, ohne Helligkeit ist er und dunkel.
21 I hate and have rejected your feasts; and I will not accept the odor from your gatherings.	21 Ich hasse eure Feste, ich verabscheue sie und kann eure Feiern nicht riechen.
22 For if you offer me holocausts and your gifts, I will not receive them; and I will not look upon the vows of your fatness.	22 Wenn ihr mir Brandopfer darbringt, ich habe kein Gefallen an euren Gaben und eure fetten Heilsopfer will ich nicht sehen.
23 Take away from me the tumult of your songs, and I will not listen to the canticles of your lyre.	23 Weg mit dem Lärm deiner Lieder! Dein Harfenspiel will ich nicht hören,
24 And judgment will be revealed like water, and justice like a mighty torrent.	24 sondern das Recht ströme wie Wasser, die Gerechtigkeit wie ein nie versiegender Bach.
25 Was it you who offered victims and sacrifices to me in the desert for forty years, house of Israel?	25 Habt ihr mir etwa Schlachtopfer und Gaben dargebracht während der vierzig Jahre in der Wüste, ihr vom Haus Israel?
26 And you carried a tabernacle for your Moloch and the image of your idols: the star of your god, which you made for yourselves.	26 Ihr werdet (den Gott) Sakkut als euren König vor euch hertragen müssen und den Kewan, euren Sterngott, eure Götter, die ihr euch selber gemacht habt.
27 And I will cause you to go into captivity across Damascus, says the Lord. The God of hosts is his name.	27 Ich will euch in die Gebiete jenseits von Damaskus verbannen, spricht der Herr; Gott der Heere ist sein Name.
