Amos 4

1 Listen to this word, you fat cows that are on the mountain of Samaria, you who make false accusations against the destitute and crush the poor, who say to your nobles, “Bring, and we will drink.”	1 Udite la parola di Dio, o voi, vacche grasse, le quali siete nel monte di Samaria, e fate calunnia alli bisognosi, e rompete li poveri; le quali dite alli vostri signori: portate qua, e beremo.
2 The Lord God has sworn in his holiness: behold, the days that will overcome you and that will impale you on poles, and that will place what remains of you in boiling pots.	2 Lo Signore Iddio giurò nel suo santo; però che ecco li di verranno sopra voi, e leveranno voi tra tutti, e lo vostro rimanente metteranno nelle pentole bollenti.
3 And you will go out through the breaches, one over another, and you will be cast out into Harmon, says the Lord.	3 E uscirete per le porte l' una incontro all'altra, e sarete gettate in Armon, dice il Signore.
4 Come to Bethel and behave impiously, to Gilgal and increase betrayals. And bring daybreak to your victims, your tithes in three days.	4 Venite a Betel, (e portatevi) e operate malvagitadi; a Galgala, e moltiplicate la prevaricazione; e offerite la mattina li animali del sacrificio, e (darete) tre dì le vostre decime.
5 And offer a sacrifice of praise with leaven. And call for voluntary oblations, and announce it. For such is your will, sons of Israel, says the Lord God.	5 E sacrificate di fermentato, e date laude, e chiamate (cioè fate) le vostre offerte volontarie, e annunziate; però che voi così voleste, figliuoli d' Israel, dice lo Signore Iddio.
6 Therefore, because of this, I have given you dull teeth in every one of your cities, and a lack of bread in all your places. And you have not been turned back towards me, says the Lord.	6 Per la qual cosa io diedi a voi stupore (e tremore) di denti in tutte le vostre terre; e averete necessità di pane in tutti li vostri luoghi; e non ritornaste a me, dice lo Signore.
7 Therefore, I have withheld the rains from you, when there were still three months left until the harvest. And I rained on one city, and I did not rain on another city; one part was rained on, and the part on which I did not rain, dried out.	7 Io vietai che voi non aveste piova, conciosia cosa che ancora sieno (di soperchio) tre mesi inanzi la ricolta; e io feci piovere sopra una città, e sopra una altra non feci piovere; una parte fu bagnata, e l'altra parte, sopra la quale non piovette, si seccò.
8 And two and three cities went to one city, in order to drink water, and they were not satisfied. And you did not return to me, says the Lord.	8 E vennero due e tre cittadi ad una città, acciò che bevessono l'acqua; non si saziarono; e non ritornaste a me, dice Iddio.
9 I struck you with a burning wind and with yellowing; the caterpillar has consumed your many gardens and your vineyards, your olive groves and your fig groves. And you did not return to me, says the Lord.	9 Io percossi voi con vento ardente [e con] marmaruche; e io guastai la moltitudine de' vostri orti (col vento putrido); e le vostre vigne e li vostri uliveti e li vostri ficheti si mangioe la ruca; e voi non ritornaste a me, dice lo Signore Iddio.
10 I sent death to you by way of Egypt; I struck your youths with the sword, even bringing captivity to your horses. And I made the stench of your camp ascend into your nostrils. And you did not return to me, says the Lord.	10 Io mandai a voi la morte nella via d' Egitto, e percossi col coltello li vostri giovani, d' infino alla prigionia de' vostri cavalli; e feci salire la puzza de' vostri castelli nelle vostre nari; e non ritornaste a me, dice Iddio.
11 I overturned you, just as God overturned Sodom and Gomorrah, and you became like an ember seized from the fire. And you did not return to me, says the Lord.	11 Io rivolsi voi sotto sopra, come lo Signore Iddio rivolse Sodoma e Gomorra; e diventaste come una ritorta nello incendio; e non ritornaste a me, dice lo Signore Iddio.
12 Because of this, I will do these things to you, Israel. But after I have done these things to you, Israel, be prepared to meet your God.	12 Per la qual cosa, o Israel, io farò questo a te, (dice Iddio); e poi ch' io l' averò fatto, apparècchiati in contro al [tuo] Signore Iddio.
13 For behold, he who forms the mountains and creates the wind and announces his speech to man, who makes the morning mist and steps over the heights of the earth: the Lord God of hosts is his name.	13 Però ch' io formo li monti, e creo lo vento, e annunzio lo parlare all' uomo, e fo la nebbia del mattutino, e vo per l'altezza delle terre; e lo mio. nome si chiama lo Iddio delli esèrciti (Iddio d' Israel).
