Hosea 8

1 Let there be a trumpet in your throat, like an eagle over the house of the Lord, on behalf of those who have transgressed my covenant and violated my law.	1 Prépare-toi à sonner de la trompette! Le malheur s’abat comme l’aigle sur le peuple de Yahvé, car ils ont désobéi à mon alliance, ils ont été infidèles à ma Loi.
2 They will call on me: “O my God, we, Israel, know you.”	2 Ils crient vers moi: “Mon Dieu! Nous te connaissons, nous Israël!”
3 Israel has thrown away goodness; the enemy will overtake him.	3 Mais Israël a rejeté le bien, c’est pourquoi l’ennemi le poursuivra.
4 They have reigned, but not by me. Leaders have emerged, and I did not recognize them. Their silver and their gold, they have made into idols for themselves, so that they might cross over.	4 Ils ont établi des rois que je n’avais pas choisis; ils ont établi des chefs que je ne connaissais pas; ils ont fait des idoles avec leur argent et leur or, aussi leur argent et leur or leur seront enlevés.
5 Your calf, Samaria, has been rejected. My fury has been enraged against them. How long will they be incapable of being cleansed?	5 Samarie, tes veaux m’ont dégoûté et ma colère s’est enflammée contre eux. Combien de temps faudra-t-il pour vous en purifier, enfants d’Israël?
6 For it is itself also from Israel: a workman made it, and it is not God. For the calf of Samaria will be used for the webs of spiders.	6 Ce veau n’est pas Dieu puisqu’un ouvrier l’a fabriqué: le veau de Samarie s’en ira au feu.
7 For they will sow wind and reap a whirlwind. It does not have a firm stalk; the bud will yield no grain. But if it does yield, strangers will eat it.	7 Ils ont semé le vent, ils récolteront la tempête; ils sont comme un blé qui n’aura pas d’épi; s’il en a, il ne donnera pas de farine; s’il en donne, des étrangers la mangeront.
8 Israel has been devoured. Now, among the nations, it has become like an unclean vessel.	8 Israël vivait à part, comme l’âne sauvage; il s’est fait dévorer. Ephraïm est maintenant chez les païens comme un objet sans valeur.
9 For they have gone up to Assur, a wild ass alone by himself. Ephraim has given presents to his lovers.	9 Il se rendait en Assyrie pour offrir des cadeaux;
10 But even when they will have brought the nations together for the sake of money, now I will assemble them. And they will rest for a little while from the burden of the king and the leaders.	10 maintenant qu’il a été lui-même livré aux païens, c’est moi qui devrai le racheter. Car en quelques instants ils se sont retrouvés sans oracles, sans rois, sans chefs.
11 For Ephraim multiplied altars to sin, and sanctuaries have become an offense for him.	11 Éphraïm a multiplié les autels: ils ne lui ont servi qu’à pécher.
12 I will write to him my intricate laws, which have been treated like strangers.	12 Si j’écris à son intention mille articles dans ma Loi, il les regarde comme une chose sans importance.
13 They will offer victims, they will immolate flesh and will eat, and the Lord will not accept them. For now he will remember their iniquity, and he will repay their sins: they will be turned back to Egypt.	13 Ils veulent offrir des sacrifices? Qu’ils les immolent et en mangent la viande, mais Yahvé n’y prend aucun plaisir; maintenant il se souvient de leurs fautes, il va punir leurs péchés, et ils retourneront en Égypte.
14 And Israel has forgotten his Maker and has built shrines. And Judah has increased its fortified cities. And I will send fire upon his cities, and it will devour its structures.	14 Israël a oublié Celui qui l’avait fait, il s’est mis à construire des palais. Juda a multiplié ses forteresses; mais j’enverrai le feu dans ses villes pour dévorer ses forteresses.
