1 At that time, Merodach Baladan, the son of Baladan, the king of Babylon, sent letters and gifts to Hezekiah. For he had heard that he had fallen ill and had recovered.	1 En ce temps-là Mérodak-Baladan, fils de Baladan, roi de Babylone, envoya des lettres et un cadeau à Ézékias; il avait appris en effet comment Ézékias s’était remis de sa maladie.
2 And Hezekiah rejoiced over them, and he showed them the storehouses of his aromatic spices, and of the silver and gold, and of the perfumes and precious ointments, and all the repositories for his belongings, and all the things that were found in his treasures. There was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah did not show them.	2 Ézékias en fut si heureux qu’il montra aux envoyés la salle du trésor avec l’argent et l’or, les aromates, l’huile parfumée, et puis ses armes: en un mot, tout ce qui se trouvait dans ses magasins. Ézékias leur montra absolument tout dans son palais et dans toutes ses dépendances.
3 Then Isaiah the prophet entered before king Hezekiah, and he said to him, “What did these men say, and from where did they come to you?” And Hezekiah said, “They came to me from a far away land, from Babylon.”	3 Alors le prophète Isaïe vint trouver le roi Ézékias et lui dit: “Qu’ont dit ces gens? D’où sont-ils venus?” Ézékias répondit: “Ils sont venus d’un pays lointain, de Babylone, pour me voir.”
4 And he said, “What did they see in your house?” And Hezekiah said: “They have seen all the things that are in my house. There was nothing that I did not show them among my treasures.”	4 Isaïe lui dit: “Qu’ont-ils vu dans ton palais?” Ézékias répondit: “Ils ont vu tout ce qu’il y a dans mon palais. Il n’y a rien dans mes magasins que je ne leur aie montré.”
5 And Isaiah said to Hezekiah: “Hear the word of the Lord of hosts:	5 Alors Isaïe dit à Ézékias: “Écoute cette parole de Yahvé Sabaot:
6 Behold, the days are coming when all that is in your house, and all that your fathers have stored up, even to this day, will be taken away to Babylon. There will be nothing left behind, says the Lord.	6 Des jours viendront où l’on emportera à Babylone tout ce qui est dans ton palais, tout ce que tes pères ont amassé jusqu’à ce jour; il n’en restera rien, dit Yahvé.
7 And your children, who will issue from you, whom you will produce, they will be taken away. And they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”	7 On prendra de tes fils qui seront nés de toi, ceux que tu as engendrés, et on en fera les eunuques du palais royal de Babylone.”
8 And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of the Lord which he has spoken is good.” And he said, “But let there be peace and truth in my days.”	8 Ézékias répondit à Isaïe: “Elle est bonne, cette parole de Yahvé que tu viens de prononcer!” et il ajouta: “Car au moins durant ma vie, ce sera la paix et la tranquillité.”
